Chapters It’s a sunny day in Ponyville where Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie are at the train station waiting for Princess Cadence’s arrival. Waiting patiently, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are playing tic tac toe, Rarity is looking in a mirror at her pretty self, and Twilight is sitting looking off into the distance. Fluttershy looks over, seeing Twilight.
“Are you alright Twilight?”
Fluttershy asked in confusion. Twilight snapped out of her gaze realizing she was still waiting,
“Yeah I’m fine”
Twilight says. She sighs looking at the ground. The rest of her friends look over.
“Aren’t you excited Princess Cadence is coming to visit?”
Fluttershy asked she walks over to Twilight putting her hoof on her shoulder. Rarity comes over as well to sit next to her.
“Why of course she is. It’s not every day Princess Cadence comes to stay for a week in Ponyville”
Rarity says. Pinkie Pie hops her way over to join the group as well with a big smile.
“Yeah it’s so amazing to hear! Aren’t you excited Twilight?”
Twilight looks up seeing her friends hugging her she smiles looking up in the sky Twilight takes a deep breath.
“Yes. It’s just so nice to see my sister-in-law coming after a very long time”
She sighs as her face turns a bit sad.
“I just hope everything is going to be great when she stays here for the week”
Rarity walks in front of Twilight lifting her head up to her view.
“Oh don’t threat darling, after all we did overcome all the villains in equestria, there should be nothing to worry about now.”
Fluttershy smiles as she gets up and stands next to Rarity.
“Yeah Twilight. Princess Cadence’s visit will be just fine so don’t you worry”
Twilight smiles and stands up. Happy that her friends are there for her all the time
“Thank you girls. I’m so happy you came here to welcome Princess Cadence.”
Twilight looks around confused of where her two missing friends are.
“Hey where’s Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash?”
Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie inform Twilight that Rainbow Dash had some birds fly into her house and Apple Jack is having troubles again with the fruit bats and that they might be late. Twilight is worried that her friends won’t make it in time for Cadence’s arrival.
“I hope they hurry, Princess Cadence will be here any moment now.”
With the sound of hooves running Apple Jack arrives followed by Rainbow Dash flying in, both panting and gasping for air.
“We’re here!”
Apple Jack said with the little air she had. Rainbow Dash is covered in feathers from the birds in her home she realizes them shaking off every last one All of the feathers falls in Pinkie Pie’s hair, looking like she is a chief.
“Yeah are we late?”
Twilight smiled happy that all of her friends are here.
“No, you came just in time, her train is arriving.”
The Crystal Empire Train comes in, screeching to a complete stop. Two guards come out the door guarding it as Princess Cadence comes out. All of the ponies bow down except for Twilight who is ecstatic to meet her.
“Thank you guards”
The guards say at the same time with their deep voices, bowing to Cadence.
“You’re welcome your majesty”
The guards retreat back into the train, closing the door of the Crystal Train then leaves the station.
“Princess Cadence!”
Twilight shouted trotting to Cadence with a twinkle in her eye and a giant smile on her face.
“Twilight!”
Cadence shouted as well. They both give each other a hug and both of them begin to do their greeting.
“Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake!”
Both laughing, Apple Jack and the rest come over
“Good to see you Princess MI Amore Cadenza”
Cadence giggles looking at Apple Jack.
“Thank you but please you can just call me Cadence”
Apple Jack nods in respect to her.
“Sure can do Princess Cadence.”
Cadence nods as well, looking back over to Twilight.
“So what do you have in plan Twilight?”
Twilight snaps out of her excitement of having Cadence here.
“Pinkie Pie is planning a welcome party for you at sugar cube corner if you would like.”
Pinkie Pie is jumping around almost shaking anxious for an answer from Cadence.
“That sounds wonderful! Thank you Pinkie Pie. So when is it?
Cadence asks but she is also confused of why Pinkie Pie is here.
“Right now…..OH! I’ve got to go! See you there!”
Pinkie Pie runs off so fast her dust cloud is in the shape of her. Cadence looks at Twilight than giggles. Twilight, Cadence and the rest of the gang start leaving the train station to Sugar Cube Corner. Along the way Twilight asks how the Crystal Empire is doing and her big brother.
“The crystal empire is doing great, shining armor helped expand it more to where we can farm now’
Twilight is happy to hear how her brother is doing and the crystal empire. She was about to say something but Rarity interrupts
“Oh how’s the fashion there?”
Rarity wonders. Since their style is flawless in her eyes.
“And the farming?”
Apple Jack asked curiously. She’s curious to know how they can farm in a land full of crystal.
“And the animals. Well if there is anyway”
Fluttershy asked. She wonders if the crystal empire could gain any animals.
“They’re all doing great! Without you guys helping to saving the crystal empire none of this would have happened. Thank you, all of you.”
Cadence said with excitement. Soon the ponies arrive at Pinkie Pie’s party. They enter seeing that sugar cube corner is full of ponies; even Zecora came to greet Cadence. Pinkie Pie is behind the counter giving away cupcakes. Apple Jack went over to her sister Apple Bloom. Rarity and Fluttershy went over to a table and started chatting. Rainbow Dash went in line to get one of Pinkie Pies delicious cupcakes. Cadence and Twilight head down to a big table and sit down. Cadence looks around looking at all the happy ponies. She turns around towards the window. She sees a unicorn walking with a hood on. Trying to look closer to see its face. She leans closer and closer almost seeing its face until Twilight starts a conversation with her.
“I’m so glad you are here Cadence.”
Cadence looks over to Twilight fast seeing a big grin on her little sister in laws face.
“Me too. We have so much to catch up on.”
They both giggle. Pinkie Pie finished giving out her cupcakes and silenced the whole party to welcome Princess Cadence. The ponies line up to greet her as well. Going through many ponies Zecora is next and the last one.
“Greetings and above to the princess of love.”
Princess Cadence nods.
“Thank you.”
Zecora bows her head in respect.
“I see you are doing well. Is ponyville helping you dwell?”
Cadence agrees and happy to meet this amazing rhyming zebra.
“There is much to discover, things to find and uncover. For one way or another. Things will guide you like a mother.”
Cadence is confused as Zecora walks away wondering what the rhyming zebra meant.
“She’s Zecora. She is a bit weird but very wise”
Twilight explained.
“Alright”
Cadence said. The party went on, Pinkie Pie put on some music for ponies to dance to and some games for the little fillies. At the end all the ponies walked home. Twilight and Cadence start walking home, giggling then Cadence starts talking about how shining armor has accomplished so much at the crystal empire. Twilight talked about her time in ponyville, and about how great her friends are. They arrive home and they are exhausted. Twilight has a bed ready for Cadence. Twilight is making her bed. She sees Cadence looking distraught
“What’s wrong Cadence?”
Twilight said, walking over to Cadence who is staring at her bed seeing the faded pink blanket getting placed on her bed then Cadence looks at Twilight.
“I’m fine thanks Twilight. I’m just confused of what Zecora said to me.”
Twilight faintly smiled, putting her hoof on Cadences shoulder
“She is very wise but confusing. Trust me I’ve been there. But it might not be as important as it sounds. Now shall we go to bed?”
Cadence nodded with a smile on her face. The moonlight shines through the window as they get ready for bed, happy that their day was amazing.
“Goodnight Cadence.”
“Goodnight Twilight.”
Cadence lifts up quickly then looks around. She is back in the library. Twilight is not in her bed but downstairs reading a book at a round table, and spike is bringing breakfast. Twilight sees Cadence has awoken.
“Good morning Cadence, I hope you slept well”
Twilight giggles at Cadence because her hair is high from her rolling around in her bed. Cadence was confuse for a moment but then realizes what Twilight is laughing at, Cadence laughs as well. After Cadence gets herself ready for the day she comes downstairs to join Twilight for breakfast.
“So did you sleep well?”
Twilight asks. Spike brings Cadence a bowl of oatmeal setting it right in front of her.
“You could say that”
Cadence says she stares at the bowl of oatmeal. Twilight looks at her with concern.
“Did something happen Cadence?’
Twilight asks. Cadence lets out a big sigh and explains everything that happened in her dream and when Luna came to save her as well. Cadence also explains of how the shadow said her name is if it knew her.
“I’m sorry to hear about your dream Cadence hopefully it’s the last one. But if you do I’m here for you”
Cadence smiles at Twilight.
“Thank you Twilight.”
Cadence and Twilight finish eating breakfast and head out of the library. Twilight has many things planned out for them but she knows she can’t do it all in one day. First they head to Sugarcube Corner to visit Pinkie Pie.
While they were on their way Cadence started getting a slight head ache. It wasn't
strong but it was noticeable to her.
Twilight and Cadence reach sugar cube corner as Twilight was about to knock they hear a scream. It sounded like Rainbow Dash. They burst through the door, they gasp to see the frightening scene.
Rainbow Dash is lying on the ground. She is covered in red her cutie mark, her body and there was red everywhere and Pinkie Pie was standing in front of her holding a butter knife. Her face is covered in red also
“What happened?!”
Twilight yelled. Cadence could do nothing but stare at the horrific scene. Pinkie Pie looks at them and she notices the red on her she licks it all off and eats it. Twilight and Cadences’ eyes widen more with fear
“Rainbow Dash spilled some red frosting right Rainbow Dash”
Rainbow Dash wakes up all dizzy holding her head as her eyes spin around.
“Y-yeah”
Rainbow Dash shakes her head looking around seeing the giant mess she made. She looks at Pinkie Pie and laughs nervously.
“I think the red makes this room 20 percent cooler”
Rainbow Dash said. Twilight looked nervously at Cadence hoping her friends didn't get the wrong impression. Cadence started laughing which made the rest laugh at well. Through the rest of Twilight and Cadences visit they made Rainbow colored cupcakes. Pinkie Pie talked about her time when she was little at the rock farm. Rainbow Dash talked about how she got her cutie mark doing her special rain-boom.
Through the chatting Cadence heard someone whispering almost singing. It was very faint for her to hear. She looks out the window, she sees no one. But the voice grows more distinct
For I will never say goodbye
Cadence’s headache grows more into pain hearing a slight ringing in her ears. Twilight notices Cadence’s distress.
“Sorry girls we have to go now.”
Rainbow and Pinkie both said goodbye then Cadence and Twilight leave.
“Are you alright Cadence?”
Cadence’s ringing in her ear stopped and her headache slowly started fading.
“Oh its nothing I just grew a headache I’m fine now”
Twilight looked at Cadence a bit worried but not much.
“So we have Rarity, Apple Jack and Flutter shy left to visit”
Twilight explained. Cadence paused for a moment to think.
“How about Rarity, she did make the most beautiful dress for me for my wedding.”
Twilight and Cadence leaves sugar cube corner saying goodbye to Pinkie and Rainbow. The princesses then head towards Rarity’s Boutique. While on her way Cadence had a few questions run through her mind.
Why am I having this headache? Was someone really singing to me? Am I just imagining things?
Before Cadence could find an answer the princesses arrived at Rarity’s Boutique.
“Well, we're here”
The princesses entered the boutique and saw Rarity working a piece with her red glasses on. Hearing the bell as they entered Rarity stopped to get up and greet them.
“Twilight, darling” Rarity said with a smile she looked over to Cadence. “And welcome to my boutique Princess Cadence.”
Cadence bowed her head to the unicorn and smiled
“Thank you Rarity”
Cadence looked around the boutique seeing the work environment the unicorn that made her wedding dress has lived
“What have you been working on rarity?”
Twilight said. Cadence looked over to the unicorn as she walked to her project.”
“I actually just finished this for a friend of mine she travels quite a lot and so I made her this beautiful cloak”
Rarity held up a dark blue cloak with holes for wings, grey for the outline. Cadence loved of how rarity always makes the most beautiful clothing.
“That looks great rarity!”
Twilight says. Moved by the luxurious cloak Cadence has a very unusual flashback happen to her she doesn’t know what it was from and why she has this memory but it confused her very much. All she saw was a face, a beautiful pair of green eyes stained with tears giving a smile almost forced onto her face as the rest was covered in silky blue cloth. Cadence hears her name faintly as she broke out of her Trans.
“Are you alright Cadence?”
Rarity says. Both Twilight and Rarity look at cadence in confusion and worry. Cadences eyes were wide staring off into nothing. She batted her eyes regaining herself.
“Oh? ... I’m sorry I just seemed to doze off, that is a very nice cloak Rarity”
Rarity thanked cadence and through the rest she talked about of how it was very difficult making the dresses for her friends at the Grand Galloping Gala but was happy that they accepted her original dresses in the end. Rarity also had fun dressing the two up of course as well in beautiful dresses of every kind Twilight and Cadence say goodbye as the leave the boutique. They decided to head onto Sweet Apple Acres to meet Apple Jack while on the way cadence held her head down ashamed of the last two events that has happened in front of her Sister-in-law’s friends.
“Is everything alright Cadence?”
Twilight said. She was worried about her and has noticed how weird cadence has been acting. Cadence let out a sigh and looked up at twilight.
“I keep having these weird events happening to me… First I have a headache then I heard someone singing to me and back at Rarity’s I had this weird flashback.”
Twilight saw the distress Cadence has
“What did you see?”
Twilight asked. Cadence looked over at her. Twilight had concern in her eyes and she knew Cadence couldn't hide it away from her any longer.
“It was this face i don't know who she was but she was crying but also had a smile on her face i don't know why i have this memory.”
Cadence sighed as she took a deep breath and smiled.
“I'm sure it doesn't mean anything no need to worry Twilight”
Twilight smiled back and soon enough they arrived at Sweet Apple Acres. While heading in they saw from afar Applejack and Big Macintosh fighting. The princesses run down towards Apple Bloom who is sitting looking at the grown angry but also had tears in her eyes. in the meanwhile they hear Apple jack and Big Macintosh yelling.
“I can do just fine Big Mac i don't need your help!”
“You can’t just do everything by yourself AJ you’re still my little sister!”
“Apple Bloom what's going on. Why is Applejack and Big Macintosh fighting?”
Twilight says. Apple bloom still looked down at the ground but saw a pink hoof near her gaze. Apple Bloom looks up to see Cadence and she wiped her tears away.
“Apple jack and Big Mac are fighting because Applejack wanted to plow the fields by herself but she has been sore after since yesterday so Big Mac offered to help but she refused and now they're fighting and i wish could just agree on helping each other and stop fighting now.”
Apple Bloom said very fast as she took a deep breath. Twilight and Cadence looked at each other.
“We need to do something to stop them.”
Twilight said she tried communicating to the arguing sibling but she was drowned out by there uproar. Cadence put her hoof on Twilight's shoulder.
“Don't worry i got this”
With her magic Cadence formed a yellow heart. The heart floated towards the two fighting siblings and with a flash the yelling stopped and the siblings looked at each other. Apple Jack took her hat off. She looked at the ground hugging her hat.
“I'm sorry Big Mac I shouldn't have been so selfish.”
Big Mac put his hoof on Apple Jack
“I'm sorry too AJ I shouldn't be treating you like a baby anymore.”
The two hugged each other as Apple Bloom ran into their embrace as well. Twilight sighed in relief that the fighting was over but was confused of how cadence used her magic on them.
“Cadence i thought your talent was supposed to fix love for couples”
Cadence giggled at her sister and smiled
“ I do fix love but not just couples love I fix any kind of love even brotherly and sisterly love”
The two looked over at the siblings ending their hug apple jack wiped some tears from her face and put her hat back on.
“Well now that we got that out of the way how about we both plow the fields Big Mac”
Big Macintosh nodded
“Eyup”
Apple Jack looked over at the two princesses and made an embarrassed chuckle.
“Sorry you had to see that ya’ll but i'm afraid we have to cut the visit short. we uh been arguing all day and couldn't get anything done.”
The two princesses looked at each other and nodded.
“Thats ok Apple Jack”
Twilight says the princesses say their farewells and head towards the last friend Fluttershy. It is getting close to sundown as a nice orange glow covered Ponyville. The two arrive at Fluttershy’s door. Twilight knocked on the cottage door and soon enough fluttershy opened and welcomed them in.
“I’m really glad you came to visit princess Cadence.”
Cadence thanked the yellow Pegasus and her stomach grumbled. She blushed in embarrassment and laughed nervously.
“I guess I haven't eaten all day sorry about that”
Fluttershy offered for the two princesses to have dinner there. The both agreed, Sitting at a small round table waiting Angel was very affectionate to Cadence hugging her hoof, Twilight giggled. Fluttershy came in with a bunch of salads setting a small bowl next to Angel and three plates in front of each other. The princesses thanked Fluttershy for the dinner. Fluttershy asked Cadence if there was any animals at the Crystal Empire.
“Actually we do. We are finding some really neat species that are part of the Crystal Empire. we
just recently found this crystal peacock. Maybe one day you can come see it.”
“ That would sound lovely Cadence.”
Fluttershy said with a smile just hearing what Cadence filled her with excitement. Cadence looked outside seeing the Everfree and was curious why such a gentle Pegasus lives near such a dangerous environment.
“So i see you live near the Everfree forest Fluttershy, how is it like?”
Fluttershy finished chewing her salad.
“Well I don't like going in the Everfree and usually I don't, but I also found and saved Angel in
there. I also met more of my other animal friends. usually I ignore it and most of the time I forget
that it’s even there”
Fluttershy explained. Cadence nodded.
“I see”
The ponies continued eating. Cadence gazed out the window. Ever since she came to visit Ponyville she has grew very curious and seeing everything inside and around. She looked at the Everfree, being fairly dark, the Everfree looked nothing but darkness. Cadence saw some animals sleeping in Fluttershy’s yard, even a bear sucking his thumb. She giggled and turned her way towards the Everfree again. The same unicorn she saw before. This time its walking very slowly, coming to a stop very limp the unicorn collapsed. Cadence eyes widen and she knew she needed to go help. She politely excused herself from the table.
“I...Need some fresh air”
The two nodded and continued eating Cadence stepped out and closed the door gently. She looks towards the direction where the unicorn fell and it’s still there. Cadence walked quietly for she did not want to wake the bear. After walking past the bear she sprinted to the unicorn. While Cadence was running Fluttershy noticed her from her window.
“Um Twilight, what is Cadence doing.”
Twilight looked out the window seeing her sister-in-law
“I'm not sure”
The two ponies head outside to see what Cadence is up to. Cadence reached the unicorn and she knelt down in front of it.
“Are you ok? Can you hear me?”
The unicorn coughed with very little breath a mare voice spoke to her
“Find me”
Cadence was confused to what the unicorn said.
“Huh?”
Before Cadence could say anything else Twilight called out to her. Cadence looked up to see The two ponies standing outside by the house. Cadence looked back down towards the unicorn, but all that was left is a ripped off piece of a silky blue cloth embroidered with the letter “A”. Cadence grabbed the with her magic and walked back.
“What's that Cadence?”
Twilight asked. Cadence did not say a word and the ponies went back inside to finish their food. Cadence wiped her mouth and spoke.
“Thank you for the dinner Fluttershy, it was real kind of you to do that.”
Fluttershy nodded
“Thank you Cadence.”
Twilight finished and she was very eager to know what cadence has found.
“So do you care to explain what you found out there Cadence”
Twilight held up the cloth with her magic next to Cadence. Cadence grabbed the cloth with her hoof and sighed.
“I found it where i was sitting. but before I saw this unicorn. she was walking along the Everfree, but while was watching her she collapsed. I went to go help her but when I went to her she said Find Me and then she disappeared right underneath me leaving this behind.”
Cadence laid the cloth in the middle of the round table.
“It has the letter A on it do you know if it might mean something.”
Cadence asked. Twilight held the cloth up
“I'm not sure”
Fluttershy looked at the cloth as well.
“That's odd i don't see any pony walking from out of the Everfree besides Zecora.”
Fluttershy explained. Twilight gasped as she had an idea
“That’s it! Maybe Zecora knows what this is.”
Cadence nodded.
“That sound like a great idea.”
The Princesses leave Fluttershy’s house, saying thank you for one last time, and head towards Zecoras house.
“You girls be careful!”
Fluttershy shouted. She closed her door turning off the light ending her day.
The princesses reach Zecora’s house. Twilight knocks on the door and shortly after Zecora answers.
“Zecora we need you help explaining something.”
Twilight held up the blue cloth. Zecora’s eyes widen but then she smiled.
“ I see this is troubling you, come inside i’ll see what i can do.”
The princesses head inside Zecora’s home. Cadence was a bit weirded out by the decor.
“come sit, now Cadence is there something you’d like to admit”
Cadence explained to Zecora the same thing she said at Fluttershy’s
“I see this great confusion, tell me do you know of this illusion.”
Cadence shook her head
“I never seen this unicorn ever.”
Zecora nodded
“It seems the memory of your past did not last, but I know something that could be done. Go see
the princess of the sun. She knows the answers better than i do. Choosing is up to you”
Cadence looked at Zecora confused
“So what do you know of this cloth?”
Cadence asked
“The cloth is part of the lost sisterhood and royalty. An alicorn was born. She holds keys to many
mysteries and pasts for she is the missing royal”
Zecora explained. The two princesses looked at each other very confused.
“So what you’re trying to say is there’s another princess?”
Twilight asked. Zecora handed the cloth to Cadence.
“I think we should also ask Celestia about this.”
Cadence said.
“First go home and rest for the information you’ll receive might not be the best”
The princesses agreed and so they leave Zecora’s house saying farewell. Arriving back home, the princesses climbed back in their beds.
“What do you think Celestia might say Cadence?”
Twilight said. Cadence yawned
“I’m not sure but whatever it is it’ll have to wait for morning.”
Twilight agreed and the princesses fell asleep, waiting until morning.
Very early in the morning Cadence and Twilight headed to the train station to go to Canterlot. Twilight wore her satchel carrying old books of Equestrian history and the cloth inside as well. While on the train to Canterlot Twilight was looking through many books with her magic while Cadence examined the cloth.
“This is very odd I don't see anything in equestrian history about a missing princess at all.”
Twilight grunted of annoyance and put her books back in her bag. Cadence handed her the cloth as she examined the A on it. Soon enough the train stopped at Canterlot. The princesses headed out as they were greeted by guards.
“We would like to see princess Celestia”
Twilight said, the royal guards guided them to the throne room where Celestia was sitting alone.
“Princess Celestia we need your help”
Princess Celestia walked over to Twilight and Cadence.
“Well if it isn't Twilight and Cadence what can I do for you?”
Twilight went into her bag grabbing the cloth and holding it out in front of Celestia. Celestia’s eyes widen
“I found this near the Everfree. Zecora said for us to come talk to you, something about a missing
Princess.”
Cadence explained, Celestia grabbed the cloth with her magic holding in her sadness she took a deep breath.
“I need you two to follow me. We need to head back to Ponyville.”
Twilight was a bit confused but her and Cadence both agreed to follow her. On one of the royal chariots the three princesses has been escorted to Ponyville, but to attract less attention Celestia requested to land near Fluttershy’s house. Cadence and Twilight were confused of Celestia’s behavior. The princesses landed next to the everfree and near Fluttershy’s house. There all of Twilight’s friends where having a picnic. Pinkie Pie ran over to Twilight and hugged her.
“Where have you been this morning?”
Twilight gasped for breath as pinkie was hugging her tight.
“Pinkie…Can't...Breathe”
Pinkie Pie let her go and she saw that Celestia was with her as well. The rest of the ponies walked over towards them. The ponies bowed to Celestia.
“So why is Celestia with you Twilight?”
Twilight held out the cloth. They looked at her confused except for Fluttershy and Rarity.
“Oh my who could ever have done this? Such beautiful silk torn off.”
Rainbow Dash grabbed the cloth and examined it.
“A? What does that stand for?”
Pinkie Pie Jumped up and grabbed the cloth form Rainbow Dash. She ran towards AppleJack shoving it in her face
“OH! Maybe it means AppleJack.”
Rarity grabbed the cloth from Pinkie Pie with her magic and handed it back to Twilight
“It isn't AppleJacks it doesn't really fit her style. Now Twilight what do you suppose it is”
Twilight grabbed the cloth and put it back in her bag.
“I’m not sure, something about a lost princess. That’s why Celestia is with us she knows what this means. By the way Celestia where are we going?”
The ponies looked over towards Celestia.
“We are heading to the old castle of the Two Sisters”
AppleJack walked over to Celestia.
“Sorry to burden on you princess but isn't that place just a wasteland?”
AppleJack asked.
“The castle still hold many books of old equestrian pasts that’s as well as artifacts”
Celestia explained.
“So what you're trying to tell us Twilight is that there is a missing princess”
Rainbow dash asked.
“We’ll just have to find out at the castle.”
Twilight said. The group started heading towards the castle in the Everfree the ponies kept asking Twilight about the missing princess, but Twilight kept telling them to wait till they get to the castle. The group arrived at the castle; Celestia went to the old throne room where in between the two thrones was a small button. Celestia pressed the button which opened a secret door in another part of the castle. Celestia turned and headed towards the west part of the castle, the rest of the ponies followed. There was an opening on the side of a wall. Celestia created a light using her magic and entered. For a short while they walked being a bit scared the ponies didn’t say a word. Celestia stopped, using her magic she Light up the dark room they entered. The Ponies gasped at the new room inside the castle. For how big it was they couldn't imagine it being there, it was a bedroom. The room was separated in different themes. In the middle was sun themed symbolizing Celestia. On the right was moon themed symbolizing Luna. Both withering away as Curtains above the beds where falling apart. The left side was gray and covered in dust
“What is this place?”
Cadence asked. The ponies spread around the room examining. Twilight and Cadence stood by Celestia. Pinkie Pie noticed the dust covered side of the room. She sneezed and Bust from the bed Frame was blown off revealing another symbol. The symbol revealed an orange flower with red tipped petals growing out of a cracked diamond.
“What is this?”
Pinkie Pie asked. The rest of the ponies walked over to the bed as well as Celestia. Rainbow Dash fluttered her wings removing the rest of the dust. The Bed round was blue with a green rim gold colored curtains draped over.
“This is the princess of life.”
The ponies gasped as Twilight and Cadence walked over to Celestia.
“How come we never heard of this princess?”
Celestia walked over to a bookcase that was next to the door and pulled out a book similar to the one of Equestrian history. But the book was a dark maroon color where underneath the horse there are three different colored gems; a dark blue gem, a yellow gem, and a green gem. Celestia opened the book revealing three princesses. There was Celestia in the middle, Luna on the right, and another alicorn on the left. The alicorn was yellow and has a green and blue mane; her cutie mark was the same as on the bed frame.
“This is her?”
Twilight asked. Celestia nodded.
“This is princess Avita. Long before Nightmare Moon came we three kept the land of Equestria nourished and alive while Luna and I raised the sun and moon she helped grow the life in Equestria.”
“Quite a green thumb”
AppleJack whispered to RainbowDash. Celestia continued
“She was the youngest out of Luna and me. After Nightmare Moon was banished she grew her own Empire full of ponies and unicorns.”
Twilight looked at the cloth and thought.
“So this is what the A stand for Avita?”
Celestia nodded. She walked to her old bed and pulled out a cloak from behind. The cloak was white silk with a gold colored design on the end. On the hem her name with gold embroilment.
“It is a cloak she made for all of us but I’m afraid Luna never gotten the chance to receive hers”
Rarity was fascinated by the design
“She has pretty good fashion doesn't she?”
Celestia set the cloak on her bed.
“Avita was very unique in her own way. She is the first one to marry, a regular earth pony.”
Fluttershy walked to Celestia
“Does that mean she had a child?”
Celestia nodded and walked over to Cadence. The rest of the ponies look over to her as well.
“Avita is your mother princess Cadence”
The Ponies gasped. Cadence was shocked and sat down.
“Wow I never thought Cadence had a mom...or how she even became a princess.”
The ponies looked at Pinkie Pie.
“What I never really did know how she became a princess.”
Twilight rolled her eyes.
“That’s because she was born a princess”
Cadence looked over to Celestia.
“You told me I was a selected princess.”
Celestia nodded
“I'm sorry for not telling you but your mother did not want you to know about her.”
“Well that’s not very motherly of her.”
Rarity said
“Why would she want to stay hidden?”
Twilight asked
“Why does Cadence not have a flowing mane?!”
Pinkie Pie exclaimed, the rest of the ponies looked over to her.
“Never mind that the question is why am I seeing these illusions of her.”
Cadence asked
“That I am not sure, you must know I have not seen her for a thousand years”
Celestia explained
“When did she leave?”
Cadence asked
“And where is this mysterious kingdom”
Twilight added
“From what I remember her kingdom was close near the castle. Before this castle lays in ruins The Everfree was not here before. From my knowledge west of here is where her land resides”
Celestia explained. She looked down at Cadence.
“Your mother was very wise and clever at her young age. Maybe she needs your help”
Cadence stayed quiet for a moment. All the information she has received had bewildered her. Questions rushed through her head; she couldn't believe that she was a naturally born princess. Cadence stood up.
Do you know any way of how to guide us?”
Celestia nodded, she went towards the back of the book and pulled out a folded map. Unfolding it the map revealed an older version of Equestria but some of the land farther away has not been written down. West from the castle was clear of the Everfree. Cadence had many questions running through her head.
“This is silly I mean what if she isn’t out there or even here. What if she is just a figment of my Imagination. What if-”
Cadence sighed and sat next to the gold bed
“What if she doesn't remember me?”
Celestia walked over to Cadence.
“If there was anything your mother loved most, it was you Cadence.”
Cadence looked at Celestia and stood up.
“Is there any way you can come with us.”
Celestia shook her head.
“I’m afraid I cannot, I need to stay here, but I am sure that you can bring your mother back.”
Cadence nodded.
“When should we start?”
Cadence asked.
“You guys should start tomorrow for you need to be ready when entering the Everfree.”
Rainbow Dash flew next to them.
“Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. What do you mean us?”
Cadence gave a smirk to RainbowDash; she knew she couldn't do this adventure alone.
“Well who else tougher than you can help?”
Cadence walked over to AppleJack
“As courageous as you AppleJack”
Then to Pinkie.
“Who can keep our hopes up”
To Fluttershy
“As brave as her heart tells her”
To Rarity
“And I’m sure you want to find the rest of that cloth Rarity”
Cadence giggled and walked over to Twilight.
“And there is no other sister in the world I would else travel with.”
Twilight smiled at Cadence. The ponies agreed to travel for Cadence mother. Pinkie Pie pulled Cadence and Twilight in for a hug and the rest of the ponies follow in.
“All of you should head home now and rest now”
Celestia said, and so the group leaves the castle ruins and head home most of the ponies talked about what they might find in the Everfree. Rarity was thinking of an empire as beautiful as the crystal empire. Pinkie Pie wonders if the lost empire knew how to party, Rainbow Dash and AppleJack talked about how they would fight off Timberwolves. When the ponies reached back to Ponyville they all said goodbye. Cadence walks back to Twilight’s Library
“Well this is a fun visit isn't it?”
Cadence said. Twilight felt disappointed in herself.
“I’m sorry this couldn't be a normal visit Cadence”
Cadence smiled and hugged Twilight
“Don’t be. You know it’s actually kind of fun going on adventures with you” The princesses giggled and walked back into Twilight’s library, Preparing for what lies at them ahead.
One beautiful night in the land of Equestria, at the edge of the Everfree forest comes out a mysterious unicorn looking mare. She’s wearing a dark blue hood that covers her entire body. Shading her face to not be visible. She’s holding a basket with her magic with a pink aura around it. With a loud crack of thunder and rain pouring down, a small cry comes from the basket; it’s the sound of a filly. The mysterious unicorn started to sing calmly with such a beautiful voice to the filly.
Sweet little darling
I hear you calling
Don’t fuss for I
Will be by your side
The unicorn started to choke on her words, her ears and her head slowly pointed to the ground. Tears fell from inside her hood. She kept walking and started where she left off.
My words are true
That I love you
Oh my sweet darling
No need to cry
The unicorn stops, her head lifts up showing that she is at the Canterlot doors. Setting the basket down she covers up the basket with a dark blue hood. The sound of the filly peacefully sleeping. The mysterious unicorn finishes her lullaby “But I have to say goodbye,” still eying the basket a pale hoof knocks on the door and quickly leaves. The sound of hooves running fades away only to end the sound with a big whoosh. A gleam of light appears as the Canterlot door opens and two white hooves are next to the basket. A yellow aurora appears lifting the basket up to show Princess Celestia’s face. In confusion, she lifts the hood and is shocked. She then looks sad as she turns around with the basket, closing the Canterlot door, ending the night.
On the same night Princess Cadence tosses and turns in her bed. She opens her eyes in shock. Looking around she has more relief. But something isn’t right to her. She’s outside, in the middle of the night. A moonlit forest Cadence sits in the middle of a bald spot and she is in surrounded by Everfree Forest trees. It has an eerie but beautiful look in the moonlight and Cadence is in the center of it all. She stands up looking around baffled to why she is outside, and in the Everfree Forest.
“Hello?”
Cadence says softly, looking in every direction for any signs of a presence. Her voice echoed into the darkness of the forest. The sound of leaves rumbles fills the background as Cadence is getting terrified. Turning around almost spinning where the core of the sound is coming from. She stops. A dark red light begins to appear getting brighter every second as Cadence’s heart is pumping from extreme terror. She can’t look away. Then the red light turns into a pair of purple evil eyes.
Cadence is shaking no words coming out of her mouth, not even a scream. Taking a step back, trying to move away from this thing. It comes out, but it’s not a pony. It’s a shadow, black and fuming. Stone spikes form on the ground as it moves. The shadow is in some shape of a pony. Cadence snaps, she turns around not even bothering looking back and runs. She doesn’t know where she’s going but as long as it’s away from the shadow. Cadence runs out of breath. She stops then sits down, her hooves are shaky and she is panting, thinking that she has gotten away from the shadow. She finally pays attention to where she is looking around she sees the same trees she’d seen and in the same area where she ran from. Turning around where the shadow appeared is gone. She lets out a sigh of relief.
Without hesitation she turns back around, not knowing that the shadow is right in front of her. She gasps, trying to run but she ends up falling. The shadow looks straight into her eyes letting out and evil laugh then saying Cadence’s name. The figure gives a sharp toothed smile. Its stone spikes form around her hooves. Cadence screams
“Please, leave me alone!”
The shadow comes closer and Cadence tries to scream but she can’t. She closes her eyes as soon as the shadow was about to get to her a light from above shines.
“Be gone!”
A light goes straight through the shadow, the shadow screams as the light is piercing it. The light surrounds it vanishing it from sight.
Cadence opens her eyes relieved that the terrorizing shadow is gone. She gets up looking around to make sure the shadow is gone. Princess Luna flies down to Cadence, landing right next to her.
“Luna?!”
Cadence gets up. She is relieved that the monster is gone and that Luna saved her. Cadence asks why she is here and where they are
“This is a dream there is nothing to fear now.”
Luna explains. Cadence asks what the shadow that was chasing her. Luna says she has no clue. Cadence then asks why the shadow said her name as if it knew her. Luna opened her mouth as to say something but she gets alerted
“You are waking I must flee”
Luna fly’s up out of sight, Cadence is yelling at her to wait but as soon as Luna disappears Cadence wakes up.
