Derpy Hooves and Secrets of Life
Days Long left Forgotten
Previous ChapterWritten Script was born in Canterlot to loving unicorn parents. A few years later their little family gained a new member, a little sister named Amethyst Star. Written Script was so excited to have a sibling at the time, so very happy to have a little sister to look after. Their little family was perfect, until Written Script discovered his parents' secret. One day he found is birth certificate, on it it was stated that he was part of a "multiple birth". Written Script had a twin...
When the colt confronted his parents about it, they refused to admit to having another foal. After a long and heated argument, Written Script decided to track down this mystery sibling himself.
Ditzy Doo sat in an empty classroom, crying softly to herself in the corner. Suddenly the classroom door opened, and a stern looking pegasus entered. Ditzy Doo straightened immediately, wiping tears from her eyes as she did so.
"Well, Ditzy, have you learned your lesson?" The stern mare asked, her voice cracked like a whip in the filly's ears.
"Y-yes ma'am!" Ditzy squeaked, leaping from her chair.
The mare motioned towards the door with her head. "Then you may go." She told the filly. Ditzy Doo hurried from the room and into the empty hallway. The detention room's door closed behind her. Ditzy didn't look back as she walked quickly down the hallway towards the dining room. If she hurried maybe she could catch the end of dinner. The gray filly ran down the corridor, hardly paying attention to where she was heading, running headlong into Raindrops, her best friend. The two fillies collided head first with a loud clack, both getting knocked off their hooves by the impact.
Raindrops, a yellow pegagus with a blue mane, rubbed her head with a hoof, sitting up. "Ow..." She groaned. Ditzy sat up too, also rubbing her head.
"Oh... sorry Raindrops!" The gray pegasus filly squeaked. She quickly got to her hooves before helping her friend to hers.
"That's okay..." Raindrops grumbled, still rubbing her head. "I was just looking for you."
"So... dinner's done already then?" Ditzy Doo asked, her face falling.
"Sorry." Raindrops said with a nod. Ditzy's stomach grumbled slightly at that moment, and the gray filly cringed. Raindrops flicked an ear. "C'mon, lets head to the dorm. We don't want Ms. Leech to find us skulking around here."
"Okay." Ditzy agreed, the two pegasi fillies heading off towards the dorm room they shared.
The next day the dining room was packed full of pegasi foals sitting at the three large tables by the time Ditzy and Raindrops arrived. Ditzy's mouth watered, her stomach rumbling loudly. She hurried to find a free seat, finding one at the end of the second table, far from where Raindrops found hers. Mmmm muffins! Ditzy brightened, grabbing several muffins from the plate at the center and putting them on her own. She dug in, munching happily forgetting about the rough day before, until Ms. Leech entered the room, a stack of mail tucked under her wing. As the stern mare entered the room all the foals got up from their seat, standing to attention.
"Mail is here." Ms. Leech told them. The foals all smiled, eager to read their mail. Though all of the foals here were orphans of some kind, most of them had friends, and less commonly, even family out there to write to.
Not Ditzy Doo. She had no one out there for her.
"Ditzy Doo."
Ditzy blinked, looking up at Ms. Leech.
"Ditzy Doo." Ms. Leech repeated, holding out an envelope. Ditzy stared stupidly for a moment before it clicked.
I... I have mail? Ditzy started to tremble... she never had mail... she slowly moved towards Ms. Leech and timidly took the envelope from her. "Th-thank you Ms. Leech..." She mumbled, her slightly crossed eyes staring down at her letter.
"You're all dismissed, be sure to be ready for class in an hour." Ms. Leech told the foals sharply as she walked stiffly out of the room. The moment the stern caretaker left the foals rushed out of the dining room, each hurrying off either to their room or elsewhere.
Ditzy flew off towards her room, letter in her mouth. The moment she reached her dorm room she tore the envelope open, slamming the door behind her. Hooves trembling, she sat on her bed. With bated breath she slowly removed the letter inside, unfolding it gently.
My Dearest Ditzy Dooit read I've been searching long and hard to find you. My name is Written Script...
Ditzy missed all her classes that day. She sat in her room, crying softly as she read, and re-read her letter over and over. She had a brother. A twin brother at that! All her young life she'd longed for a family, and now her birth family was reaching out to her. Written Script's letter wasn't very long, but that didn't matter. This letter was now Ditzy Doo's most prized possession. After hours of reading the letter over and over, Ditzy finally folded the letter, placing it carefully back into it's envelope, and got out a fresh piece of paper and a quill.
My Dearest Written Script... she began.
