The snow was falling hard in the city of Bridlestone, but the view was beautiful, the castle up on the hill was almost warming to look at, Castle Marefax, it sure was a sight to see. A blue coloured earth pony mare named Lily sparrow looked up as her sister a pegasus mare with a light red coat and crimson mane known as Rose was standing there, they were standing out in the snow by the front of their shelter, it wasn't much but to them it was home, Rose  placed a hoof on her shoulder, suddenly Lily felt a drop hit her mane making Rose pull away her hoof and exclaim “What was that? Oh yuck!” it was a bird, it had taken it upon itself to leave its droppings on Lily’s mane Rose hit Lily lightly on the foreleg and said “Well, I hear that's lucky, like finding a four-leaf clover. Although I think I'd prefer the clover.” they both giggled as Lily brushed the Droppings from her light blue mane. “Look little Sparrow; Castle MareFax looks so beautiful in the snow, just imagine the grand dining hall, I bet lord lucius is having roast lettuce at this time of year” Lily looked up, though still cautious of another pigeon attack, “ i bet he is feeling lonely though, since his wife and little girl died.” they both rubbed their eyes, and Rose chimed in “All alone... in that big castle. I wish we could live there.”

A sound could be heard in the distance, Cheers and clapping and some faint music like that of an accordion and xylophone, and faint lights could be seen round the corner. “what is going on over there?” Rose wondered, as she turned to Lily with a Grin, “come on sis, lets take a look” Rose rushed ahead running round the corner and through the alley way towards the commotion until she was stopped, Lily followed after her Rose was stopped by the dirty slouch Arfur, that unshaved drunk hunched over to Rose “ ‘Ello Rose, have you rethunk my offa’? you look.. peckish” Arfur licked his lips and twiddled his fingers, as Rose retaliated with “We’ll never be that hungry” Arfurs face turned to that of anger as he slurred “you’ll be back… and i’ll be waitin’ for ya!” Rose blurted out “The answer is NO!” she grabbed Lilys arm, pulling her away towards the crowds, “that filthy creep, i hate his perverted face!” Rose said under her breath as they neared the plaza of the town, the two sisters could see a crowd of almost 2 dozen people, grasping eachothers hooves they pushed through to near the front of the crowd.

Peaking through the gaps they could see the commotion was all about a caravan that was parked with an open side, a big sign on the top that read Lulamoon Legends glistened in bright multicoloured letters, the mare in the caravan spoke her cape lightly blowing in the wind “Step right up, step right up as the great and powerful trrrixie prepares some products that will make your eyes shoot right out of your face, like this!” her horn glowed and so did a blanket that was covering something quite tall, suddenly the blanket was lifted and below it was a gold rimmed mirror “this mirror has a magical aura surrounding it, for whenever trixie has looked upon herself through it the mirror has made her look beautiful, how much am i selling this majestic piece of art you ask? why for the low price of 5 bits.” shouted the mare as she lifted the front of her hat, a mare from the crowd screamed aloud “I’LL TAKE IT!”, to which Trixie responded “sold to the mare in the green hat! just remember, the magic only works if you look at it in complete darkness.”, the mare walked up to the front and payed the bits then carried her new mirror away. silence hit the crowd in anticipation of the next product that trixie was peddling, next was a small blue box hexagonal with a set of six keys, Trixie spoke up “this box was created by the ancients, used by the rulers of the old kingdom... “ talking amongst themselves the crowd seemed uninterested but Lily and Rose looked on in amazement at the beauty of the box “simply turn all the keys and make a wish and it will be granted” seeing most of the patrons in the crowd were dis-interested Trixie moved on.

Rose turned to Lily “theres no such thing as magic that can do that, its a myth” they both nodded “grim times we must live in if a child doesn’t believe in magical artifacts, are you too weary of this world? its a pity, normally children your age eagerly believe.” questioned a sweet yet old sounding voice, the pair turned round to see a tall white mare in a cloak though she sounded quite old she looked middle aged with a golden crest around her neck, yet her eyes were all cloudy” Rose looked at the mare and argued “ look i know you can’t see very well but that box is worthless, a piece or trash” the tal mare sighed and smiled “thats what the salesmare thinks too but she has no idea, and i’m willing to bet that somewhere deep in your mind you believe” rose gasped “y.. you really think its real?” the tall mare turned and started walking away “for 5 bits, you could find out” Rose looked at her a bit irritated and exclaimed, “for 5 bits we could eat for a week” the mare turned back and said “Rose, that week would be over and then what, your dream of a castle lifestyle wouldn’t be any closer, of course you could always go for selling the one thing you don’t wish to part with” the mare walked away and the girls both looked at each other and said “how did she know?” Rose spoke up “what do you think we should do Lil sparrow?” Lily thought to herself for a second and then nodded “we should do it, I want to believe in that nice lady” Rose thought for a while looking to the sky for guidance “I bet we could get 5 bits...” Rose turned to Lily and said “ and maybe, just maybe we could find our way out of here, c'mon Lil Sparra’! there must be some way we can earn a few bits!”
