Eyes Of Darkness

It was a quiet, dark night in Ponyville. Every creature slept soundly in their beds,  Luna's moon watching over the dark streets. A shadow moved in the darkness. Not a big movement, but just enough to perceive that something was there. A tail flicked into the moonlight, quick and fast, but you could easily make out the rainbow colors.

Rainbow crept forward, making sure that no pony was around. She wore a black hoodie with her hood concealing her rainbow mane. The newest novel of Daring Do came out, and Twilight Sparkle got the first copy. She was a princess after all. However not for long. She darted into the shadows again as a harsh wind whipped at the trees. She felt her adrenaline speed up as she took off for the castle that towered over Ponyville in a daunting form.

With a quick gasp of breath she plowed through a window that was left open for a cool breeze. Dash couldn't slow herself down enough and smashed against the other side of the wall, finally dropping to the ground in a heap. Despite the loud crash, the house remained still and quiet. Making sure to stay quiet, Rainbow Dash trotted silently down the hall. A beautiful staircase led down to the first floor, and Rainbow Dash flew upwards and gently landed without need of stairs.

She began towards the library which would definitely hold the book she seeked. Her hooves emitted soft clopping noises as she made her way towards the library. That's when she saw it. A simple glass container that held a purple liquid. It was held by a stand, and swirled constantly. It sat between her and the library on a small stand. She approached it with discomfort, her eyes staring at it carefully. A slip of paper was leaned up against the bottle, and Dash carefully unfolded it.

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

I regret to inform you that an epidemic sort has arisen in Manehatten.

I have sent you instructions for the curing potion attached to this. Please review it carefully. After you have made it, please send it to me with great protection and effort. The potion in wrong hooves could be disastrous.

Rainbow Dash widened her eyes at the potion. I wonder what it does, she thought as she used her teeth to pull out the cork. It bounced off the ground and rolled a few feet away. Rainbow stared at the liquid. It was beautiful. A strange emotion went through her. A craving to gulp it down and become a super pony. She thought back to Spike and his comics, and lifted it with her hoof. With a quick prayer to Celestia she tipped the bottle and let the cool liquid run down her throat. It tasted like old medicine a mother would force down her sick foal's throat. She let the bottle crash to the floor, spraying the contents everywhere. It began to burn in her throat and she whinnied loudly as she began having a spasm. Her hooves shot out and she leapt around like a rodeo pony. She snorted and kicked, pain enflaming her esophagus and stomach.

"Rainbow Dash!" Came a quick cry from beside her. She couldn't make out who or what was there because she gave an agonizing scream and collapsed on the spot, her limbs twitching inhumanly.
