Royal Trouble
Newborns
Load Full StoryIt was a summer day in Meldania, and all was quiet and at rest. Well, except for at the hospital, where Marie was waiting on her first child. She was getting very nervous, as she was due any day now. Xavier wasn't much less from nervousness either, he was about to become a father. He wondered how good of a father he would be, and if his children would like him. For one thing, he knew he'd never let anything come to harm his kids.
Nurse Redheart walked in with a clipboard. "Good morning, Marie. How are we holding up?"
"Well, he or she certainly is kicking around a lot..." Marie groaned a bit after being kicked a bit harder by the unborn child.
"I see, well, you shouldn't be worried about anything. We ran some tests from last week, and the birth should go smoothly. I will have the chef's bring up some breakfast for you shortly." The nurse dipped her head and walked out.
Xavier looked at Marie and asked, "Are you alright? Do you want some water?"
"I-I'm fine, but thank you for offering." Marie replied. She looked up at the clock, as the baby would be arriving at any moment. Marie grunted again from her stomach hurting as the baby moved around.
"I'll get you some water anyways, you seem like you need it." Xavier walked out the door, down the the cafeteria and got his wife a glass of water. However when he returned, he gasped, "M-Marie?! Are you alright?!"
"Get...the...NURSE!!!" Marie shouted in pain.
Xavier ran down the hall, he came back with Nurse Redheart and three other doctors. "Could you be so kind as to leave the room until we have delivered the children, your majesty?"
"Oh, sure, no problem. Hang in there, honey!" Xavier said before leaving.
Marie responded, "Gee...thanks for THE SUPPORT!!!" She shouted again from the contractions.
Xavier waited in the lobby, and wondered what was happening. He wondered if the baby would make it, and if Marie would survive the birth. He had remembered what she'd told him before, about her brother not making it. Xavier didn't want the same for his child. After two hours, Nurse Redheart came out.
"Are you ready to see your baby boy?" She asked.
Xavier repeated, "B-Boy?"
Nurse Redheart smiled, "Yes, a boy. Marie's birth went steadily as said, and they're both okay. She's waiting for you in the room."
Xavier went back into the room with the nurse. He smiled down at his new son, in the crib beside Marie's bed.
"We'll have to clean him up first, but we'll return him shortly. For now, let's start running a few more tests, just to make sure no after-affects take place. You'll also need to fill out your release papers." Nurse Redheart said before taking away the baby to be cleaned.
Xavier filled out the papers for her, and then the remaining three doctors ran blood-tests and other necessary runs to make sure she was 100% okay.
One of the doctors spoke as the other two left, "She's in good shape, and is okay to be taken home to the palace. The baby will be back here shortly, please wait." He then left, dipping his head as a goodbye.
Nurse Redheart returned with the baby, "Alright! He's ready to go, take good care of him, and do come see us again if anything is wrong. Have a nice day, and congratulations!"
Marie smiled, "Thank you, Nurse Redheart. Goodbye!" The couple and the child got into the carriage and they returned home safely.
She wobbled a bit, and Xavier took the child with his magic, levitating him. "Maybe you should go lie down for a little. I'll watch after the baby. Oh, speaking of which, what are we going to name him?"
"Hmm...I like the name Ray." Marie responded with a grin.
Xavier smiled, "Prince Ray it is." He went to the nursery, where they were going to keep him. Marie went in the other direction towards their room, and she laid down to take a nap.
Gently, Xavier put the newborn into the crib. Then he smiled like he had when he first saw Ray. "I think you're going to make a great heir some day."
Once Ray had turned three years old, Xavier and Marie decided to have another baby after three years. Again, they were in the hospital after she had entered nine months of pregnancy. They went through mainly the same thing, only this time, it was different doctors, asides from Nurse Redheart, and Xavier didn't fetch her water. This time, the child had been a baby girl. The two parents agreed on the name Princess Aurora for her, since she was as beautiful as the Northern Lights. They took her home, and placed her in the nursery inside of a crib. Ray had been playing with a toy plane on the rug in the same room.
Xavier whispered, "Ray, quiet down a little. Your sister is asleep."
"Okay, daddy." He replied back in a whisper. He made small imitation noises of a plane quietly, rather than loudly.
After raising the kids for a while, two years flew by. Ray was now five, and Aurora was two. The family decided to go on a picnic, and they did. Ray had a scooter he got a while ago for his birthday, and rode it up the trail to their spot. Aurora, on the other hoof, was walking by her parents, even though Ray stayed in their sights.
