It was like most days when the residences ain't doing major works. Usually some ponies including me has to go outside of Stable 141 to get the equipment and supplies we needed for all kinds of possibilities. Repair and Maintenance, Education, you name it. Wait. Did I forget to mention about my past? Well better late than never. My name is Talisman, a Security Officer and Weapons Technician of Stable 141 located in the mountainsides near Los Pegasus (or now better known as The Boneyard). It's been nearly 10 years since the Overstallion decided to open the large door of the Stable to make contact with the outside world much like all the other Stables, well when I say all of them, one Stable near Ponyville refused to open it's door but I guess you know that story by now. You might be wondering how the actual hell did I get 2 jobs at the same time? Well when I went through the C.A.T test, I was expecting a average high score but to my surprise I got the highest score out of everyone. Hell, that's what happens when you study for 7 hours a day. Since I opted for a job as a Security Officer and a Weapons Technician, I always have to deal with trouble in any way I can. Such as stopping a huge brawl (which usually means that I get beaten up a lot and I mean a lot), fixing shrapnel of a broken gun, comforting fillies and colts that are lost and trying not to blow myself up with a faulty frag grenade. Hence earning my reputation as the favorite stallion in the Stable and getting my Cutie Mark, a golden shield with an Infinite Mobius ribbon. Meaning I can take care of myself and that I have so many potentials still in me. My parents said that I was special. Yet, I always wondered what they've meant by that whether is because of my name or something else. Oh Celestia, I missed them so much. I was 13 when they died from a fire in the maintenance room, I was so close to them. My life had been a mixture of happiness and depression but thanks to my friends and countless trips to the therapist, I began to adjust back to my normal average life, I guess that's enough for my personal history for now. I checked the time on the clock on my bedside self for the 6th time today, 2:30pm, right on the dot. I got up and proceeded to make my usual work, Do I get tired of my jobs? Well... Yeah, kind of. But most of the time I enjoy it. Wait, this is a Tuesday so that means it was a free day for me. Wow Talisman, you sure can mix your timetable up... Again. I laughed and facehoofed myself realizing that I made the same mistake for the thousandth time all ready. "For hell sake, when will I learn?" "Accidentally mix up your timetable again?" A familiar voice of a mare asked me, I smiled and turned around to see a Cobalt blue unicorn. "Yes I did, and It's nice to see you too Aurora." Aurora is Stable 141's best nurse and favorite mare, if you're critically injured then she can fix you up in 2 seconds. Her cutie mark is heart with a hospitality cross in the middle, representing her kind hearted and caring manner. Me and Aurora became quite close friends after we've met in our youth and stallions usually bothers me on how to hang out with her. And just to clarify we're not love with each other. We are just close friends. "So how's life Talisman?" Aurora asked me she usually calls me Talisman or Talis but most of the time Talisman. "Just same old things just a different day." I answered, Aurora grinned at my answer as I said it for a millionth time already. "How's it going for you Aurora?" "I'm doing fine." She replied, but her smile to into a frown just after a few seconds. "Actually I'm not alright, Marko and Thunderhead tried to hang out with me." I groaned. "Those idiots again?" "Yep." Marko and Thunderhead are what we call the most annoying pegasi of the Stable. Both of them  always bothers me and Aurora the most, most of the time trying to be friends with us but got other ideas with trying to be friends with Aurora. We try to stay away from them but much to our annoyance, they keep popping out of random places at random times. "Can't you do anything about it Talisman? Aurora asked me, her face mixed between annoyance and sadness. "I'm trying to." I reassured her "But I guess you all ready know that, considering Unicorns can read minds." "Hey, you're a Unicorn yourself Talisman." Aurora laughed. Oh crap, yeah I forget about that! Suddenly there was a large explosion that shook the entire Stable. Everpony came out of their duties wondering what the hell is going. Aurora and I froze as realization dawned on us about where that explosion came from. The Water Reactor Room! We ran down to the lower levels only to discover that our fears were true. The reactor was destroyed. Aurora evacuated everyone working in Maintenance while some security officers and I closed the door leading to the Stable's reactor, preventing a large amount of water from escaping. I knew that the reactor was centuries old and even the Overstallion agreed but the Maintenance workers didn't make a big deal of it and basically said that the reactor was fine, how stupid were they. I was then called by the Overstallion to discuss the Stable's future, either live in here while getting supplies of the outside world or leave the Stable permanently. I wasn't sure which answer I'd pick, then I remembered there was a town not far from here. The town was big enough to fit the entire Stable residences and I was good friends with the Sheriff and some town folks. I knocked on the door of the Overstallion's office, seconds later replied with a "Come In." The Overstallion was talking to a maintenance worker about the accident until he notices me standing by the door. He then dismissed the worker and walked to his window letting out a frustrated sigh. This wasn't a good day him. Actually, this was a bad day for everyone, to be honest. "Talisman, I know you saw what happened to the reactor and the chief engineer reported that it is beyond repair. So what do we do, stay and survive with supplies or leave hoping for a better future?" "Before I can answer the question, Sir. I wanted to ask you. Why did you ask me for decisions instead of anypony else?" "Because everypony looks up to you and you were chosen to become the next Overstallion." He said firmly. Wait a minute, since when I was chosen to become the Overstallion? Oh right, last month's meeting. "So what will it be?" "I think opening the door is the best way for the Stable." I answered. The Overstallion frowned at my answer "Really? and what makes you say that?" "We don't have enough ponies to stay and live down here forever." I replied. Most Stables have numbers between 500-1000, us however has been dropped to... 50. The Overstallion thought for a few minutes before his green rimed eyes widen in realization. "By Celestia, you're right. We won't last for a few year whether or not we get supplies from the outside." "Our race isn't about genetics. It's about never giving up, even now." I response with a smile The Overstallion smirked "I always like your optimism, in a positive way I mean. But I'm not the one who able to lead, I'm resigning my position and as Stable 141's last Overstallion, I'm opening the door permanently. Before we leave, I'd like to give you something." He opened his special cabinet and gave me  a small parcel that was sitting on the middle shelf. The parcel was big enough to fit a 10mm Pistol but why would The Overstallion keep a pistol in his cabinet rather then his emergency ammo box? "What is it, Sir?" I asked, slowing opening the parcel in the process "Your father's advanced Pip-Colt." The Overstallion replied proudly "He was going to give to you before he died. I was minding it until it was the right time." I. Was. Speechless. There, in the parcel, was a Pip-Buck 3000 Mark IV. This model is nickname the Pip-Colt and its a far more advanced and rarer model of the normal PipBuck, though it has the same operating systems as the normal but it has superior hardware and durabiliy. The Pip-Colt is also more lighter. S.A.T.S has also been changed, rather then pausing time completely, it slows down time long enough to still lock on to your enemies. I found S.A.T.S to be a bit overpowered yet I've heard some Stable ponies complaining that their S.A.T.S is pretty underpowered. Something about immunity I believe. "Thank you, Sir." "No problem. Now if you excuse me, there's one last announcement to make." Before I joined the others at the door, there was a few things I needed get. First I removed my Security Armor as it was pretty much almost useless out in the wastelands and replaced it with my Reinforced Wasteland Armor. The Reinforced Wasteland Armor is a black combat armor while wearing a reinforced greyish black one-sleeved leather armor with 141 on the back. The second item was my wasteland two firearm, a unique chromed Desert Eagle .44 named Strike Eagle and a powerful sewed off shotgun called Avenger and finally a photography of me in happier times with Mum and Dad. Arriving at the door just in the right time, I saw danger signs being put up warning everyone about the water levels in the reactor room. Aurora was looking after some children, they looked scared and confused, I couldn't blame them. As we left the Stable for the last time, I remembered the good times and bad times I had, my life and all the residence's in the Stable has ended but I have this feeling that my journey has just began. War never changes. In the year 2045, my great-great grandfather, serving in the army, wondered when he'd get to go home to his wife and the son he'd never seen. He got his wish when the Equestria, thanks to their then allies the Zebra Nation, discovered mass-produced technology and drop the first balefire on Mareoshima at the end of World War 2. The World awaited Armageddon; instead, something miraculous happened. We began to use these technologies not as a weapon, but as a nearly limitless source of power. Everyone enjoyed luxuries once thought the realm of science fiction. Domestic robots, motorized contraptions called cars, portable computers. But then, in the 21st century, everyone awoke from the peaceful dream. Years of consumption lead to shortages of every major resource. The entire world unraveled. Peace became a distant memory. It is now the year 2277. We still stand on the brink of total war, and I am afraid. For myself and my friends - because if my time in the wastelands taught me one thing: it's that war, war never changes.
