Load Full StoryNext ChapterIn a room there slept a stallion, dozing quietly with a peaceful look upon his face. He lived a large house near the middle of ponyville, His name was Bright Idea but he preferred Brighty. The warm golden glow of the sun trickled through the curtain gently illuminating the room. A mess of scattered odds and ends lay around the room making movement similar to going through a maze. On a clustered bedside table his clock read quarter to eight. A single beam of light shone upon his face, he twisted his body away and buried his face under the covers. Now half awake he could hear the sounds of foals laughing and playing games. He slowly drifted back to sleep starting a dream of magic and whimsy.
Sudeley his door slammed halfway open getting stuck on a box of assorted inventions. A strong stallion forced the door all the way open knocking over the box spilling it contents everywhere.
“Get your ass lazy up now!” he yelled
“Mmhhhhh” grounded Brighty
The stallion stepped into the room nearly slipping on pile of diagrams.
“Ugh don't you ever clean your room?” He sighed with a roll of his eyes.
“Mmmmhh… mmh”
“Siriusly get up now”
“Mmhhhhh…”
“Fine lets play that game” He said loudly as his horn began to glow. He ripped the blankets off Brighty and in an attempt to grab them back he fell onto the floor. Brighty wing peaked up at a crooked angle. The stallion waited for Brighty to get up but instead Brighty pulled the blankets over himself as if the cluttered floor was a pegasus feather stuffed bed. With a loud groan of defeat the stallion half levitated half dragged Brightly across the floor collecting junk as he moved across the room. The station mumbled something to himself about buckets of water as he dragged him to the shower. With a final huff he hosted him into the shower and stopped painting lightly. He turned the shower onto cold with a final glance at the sleeping lump was his best friend, he walked away turning on the shower causing a filly sounding scream echoing through the house.

Bright Idea sat shivering like a small dog as he angrily eyed his friend who did nothing to hide the smug grin he wore upon his face like a medal of honor (which he had several of matter of factly). Brighty dramatically sipped his coffee not breaking eye contact with his friend. His friend was first to break the silence.
“You got what you deserved” He said with a raised eyebrow hoping to get a reaction out of Brightly but all he got from him was a extra violent shiver followed by a another dramatic sip.
“If you didn't stay up all night you wouldn't be so tired in the morning” he said as if he was speaking to a foal.
“I was up last night because of work and you know it” said Brightly with a unamused look upon his face.
“Sure… work definitely not Daring Do” he said.
“Hey!” said Brightly jumping to his hooves. A mare casually stepped into the room, she had a light blue mane that had was frizzy from bad bed hair and a beautiful purple body.
“Bright Idea, True heart, please do me the favor of shutting up” she said sleepily before filling her own cup of coffee.
“Good morning Verity” said True Heart.
“make one comment about my hair and I swear to Celestia I will slay you were you sit” she said with a casual sip of her coffee.
“Brighty slowly stood and wobbly walked to the counter where he stood for several seconds before asking,
“how do I Toast?”
“What?” asked Verity and True Heart asked in near unison.
“How do I do the thing with the bread” he asked again as his eyes began to close.
“How much sleep did you actually get last night?” inquired Variety with a worried tone.
“The number after the first one”
“You mean two?”
“No the other one”
“Three?”
“No thanks I just went” his head slowly fell towards the counter and soon connected with a loud bonk.
“Ow” he said with a muffled voice.
“Come on sit back down” coos Verity as True Heart helps guide him to his seat with the help of his magic.
“Just keep drinking til you feel better” she says. Five cups of coffee and two toasts latter Brighty was partly functional
