Twilight became aware of warm, soft and very comfortable sensations enveloping her as she blearily opened her eyes. Looking around, she eventually caught the sight of the window. The curtains were open and Celestia had risen the sun in her drunken slumber. It was too late for Twilight to realise her blunder as the sunlight proceeded to blind her sleep-sensitive eyes. Gah! My eyes! Twilight quickly covered her face with her hooves to protect them, she began to roll away from the sun, gently rubbing her eyes and groaning because of the pain of her eyes being suddenly exposed to the bright solar light.

A midnight blue wing covered her as two strong arms pulled her close, shielding her from the light that poured through the window without a care for ponies who were still asleep or who had just gotten up. However this reprieve was short lived as she eventually became aware of the throbbing headache that was now competing with the pain in her eyes for attention. Twilight groaned. Why!?

As the pain in her eyes had subsided Twilight noted she was still in Celestia’s room, from her position though it seemed as if Mother Yay! First time and I got it right! had put her in Celestia’s bed. I really need to remember to refer to her as Auntie and just after I got Mother right, perhaps i jinxed it. But that aside, it is difficult. I mean, I have always called her princess— Wait! I have been calling her Celestia! When did that happen? Moreover why would I stop referring to her as princess? Shaking her head as she put those two new questions on the ever increasing pile of questions that needed answering in the foreseeable future.

Twilight carefully tried to shift so she could see the foot of Celestia’s bed. A difficult task when your Mother’s wings are in the way! As she struggled she took in the view of the curtains framing the view between the four oak posts like a theatre stage obscuring the rest of the room, and beyond that was Celestia’s desk covered in scrolls, letters and other documents. Sitting at the desk laying face down was Princess Celestia, she still wore her regalia.

I’ll have to ask how Celestia and Luna— grrr! Auntie and Mother could sleep in them. Twilight sighed. I still have to inform my adoptive parents that I know now, so they can stop the charade. I bet they’ll be happy to be rid of me. In fact the moment I was old enough to do magic they practically kicked me out. Signed me up to Celestia’s school for gifted unicorns and that acceptance letter was received far too quickly for my tastes.

The school was dorm room only so had I passed the entrance exam I would have moved out anyway. Did they actually love me or were they pretending? I mean according to Auntie Celestia they had me for up to 2 years before I was accepted at her school as her personal student, and then after I spent the last 20 or so years studying and living at the castle, and only going home on the holidays or in my case leaving home for the holidays.

At least I can be certain Shiny cares. I mean he was definitely there for me all the time. Well that is till high school. When he basically started paying attention to my sister. Huh? That was easier to say than I thought. Calling Celestia Auntie or Luna Mother was proving difficult, but it wasn’t when calling Cadence Sister.

It just rolled off my tongue. Although to be fair Cadence was like a big sister to me, when I was a little filly she treated me like a little sister. Any way I am getting off track. Well if they did want me then I’ll find out when I tell them. As Twilight broke out of her deep introspection and continued to look at Celestia. She noticed that next to the princess, wrapped in her slumbering arms was the bottle of cider they had last night.

Taking her eyes off Celestia Twilight’s eyes moved around the room as she could do nothing else what with being trapped in the vice grip of her mother who was still deep asleep.

Twilight turned to look at her mother “Luna? Luna wake up. Luna~!” Twilight exasperatedly threw up her hooves. Laying back down on the pillow, Unbeknownst to Twilight Luna was very much awake only pretending to still be sleep. A smirk formed on her lips. Which quickly disappeared as Twilight turned back to her. Maybe, nuzzling will help? Twilight brought her face to Luna’s and began nuzzling at her face, “Mother?” Luna smirked and sniggered quietly. Twilight tried again nuzzling more roughly. “Mother, wake up!” Luna’s eyes flew open as Twilight came in for a third nuzzle she was instead met with a hoof.

“Boop!” a large grin plastered on Luna’s face belied her mirth as the unexpected boop on Twilight’s nose sent her into frenzied thrashing as Luna let go of Twilight. She spazzed out causing her to reach the edge which in turn increased her flailing as she tried to stop herself from falling. She sent herself falling off over the edge of the bed in her desperate struggle with Twilight landing upside down, her tail falling between her hind legs hiding her shame as legs which were currently up in the air flailed as she tried to right herself.

Luna crawled over to the edge of her bed a look of concern on her face which melted away when she saw that Twilight was okay. Luna burst out laughing as a huffy unicorn glared at her from the floor. Twilight groaned as she got up. Dusting herself off. As she was about to tell Luna off for doing that to her, a snort to her left interrupted her.

Celestia spoke in her sleep “No cake! I am supposed to eat you, not you eat me!”

Twilight stood there for a moment processing the absurdity of what she just heard from Celestia. Then she looked at Luna who still had a grin on her face, finally they both start laughing.

         “Pfft Tia!” Luna cried out.

“Ow— my sides” Twilight added as they continued to laugh.

Another snort announced Celestia’s return from dream land. “Huh? whut? Where’s the pony eating cake?”

“Good morning Tia!” Luna called cheerfully.

Celestia groaned “I am never eating cake and drinking again!” Celestia sighed bringing a hoof to her forehead, “Oh who am I kidding of course I’ll do it again and then I’ll swear that I won’t again … .”

Slowly Celestia turned to see her sister grinning from ear to ear as she sat watching her. Grumbling to herself Celestia got up wobbled as she tried to regain her balance. Celestia’s horn started to glow after a few moments a golden glow washed over her body.

“That’s better I am glad you invented that hangover cure spell Lulu. Shall we go get breakfast?”

“You go ahead Auntie I need to speak to Mother. We’ll be there soon.” Twilight said Celestia just shrugged as she went towards the door a golden glow encasing the handles as they flew open. Twilight turned to Luna who was looking nervous.

Twilight trotted up towards Luna and embraced her. “First off Mother cast that hangover spell on me.” Luna smirked but complied as the spell completed Twilight breathed a sigh of relief “Now for the matter at hoof Mother, who is my father?”

Luna froze stiff as Twilights question rocked her very being. “Clover— the clever.” A blush filled Luna’s face. As Twilight’s jaw unhinged and fell to the floor. Luna continued “Remember that hearth’s warming eve pageant. I chose you for that role, you look so much like her.” Luna held her hoof to Twilight’s face. “I am sure she’d be proud of you.”

“But how!? She’s a mare, that’s just what!?” Twilight asked flustered at yet another revelation.

“Let’s just say we found a way and leave it at that. Let’s get to breakfast before Tia devours it all!” Luna blushed again as she cantered off in a hurry sparing a glance behind her every so often making sure Twilight was following. Twilight hurried along to keep up with Luna.

As they followed the labyrinthine corridors that filled the castle, they were silent during the journey Luna due to the embarrassment and Twilight the shock of finding out her Father was not only one of the founders of Equestria, Star swirl’s apprentice and a mare.

They reached their destination, the white door with gold curved and spiralling inlay that filled it was closed encased in Luna’s glow the doors were pulled open and then closed as Twilight followed her through, in the center of room a long table with three throne like chairs two on one end of the table and one on the other, where Celestia sat cup of tea in her magic. A newspaper hovering in front of her, as she dug at her large stack of pancakes.

“You finally made it, I was afraid I’d end up dining on my own.” Celestia glanced over her newspaper a grin forming on her lips as she noticed Luna’s still blushing face. “Looks like you told her then.” It was more of a statement than a question, but it was enough to cause Luna’s blush to deepen. Both Twilight and Luna sat down at the other end Luna in the throne chair and Twilight next to her in the smaller chair.

Twilight began to levitate several pancakes to her plate and proceeded to put some butter on top and some drizzle maple syrup over it as well. Luna fidgeted and began to gather her own breakfast from the assortment. If only to beat back the embarrassment she felt.

Luna turned to Twilight, was eating her pancakes. “Have you decided on when you’re going to inform your adoptive parents?

Twilight looked up at Luna, grimace found its way amongst her features “I shall tell them soon.” The obvious venom in her voice caused Luna to flinch while Celestia nearly lost her cup and fork out of her magic.

“Twilight, why are you treating them with such contempt?” Celestia ask worry in her voice.

Twilight turned to answer Celestia her grimace turning into a glare that could melt steel. “They never wanted me and as soon as I was able to do magic they essentially kicked me out! Sure going to your school was a dream of mine, but how long ago did they have me registered that acceptance letter came exactly after I had just learnt how to turn a book page with my magic! How long had they been wanting to be rid of me?” Twilight broke down in sobs as Luna quickly got out of her chair and pulled Twilight into a comforting hug.

“Shh, shh, it’s okay, we’re here for you.” Luna cooed as she held Twilight rubbing her hoof along her back in a soothing gesture. Twilight leaned into the hug and nuzzle Luna’s neck. How long has it been since Twilight Velvet or Night Light had held her like this? As she searched her memories she had found that no such comfort existed outside of interactions with Shiny or Cadence and Celestia. Was I just a burden to them? These thoughts coupled with the revelation that indeed they had never cared at all save for just keeping me alive. Twilight continued to cry as Lu— no her Mother comforted her. She wrapped her hooves around her Mother.

Celestia wore a dour expression. It seems my trust in them was misplaced, well I best send a letter to Cadence and Shining. Twilight needs as much support as possible. Hang on I am missing something wasn’t there somepony else here. at that moment Spike burst in and rushed toward Twilight and with a jump joined the hug with Twilight and her mother Luna.

“Twilight are you okay?” Spike asked concern laced his voice.

“No Spike I am not. I find out I adopted, I then find out that Luna is my Mother and Celestia is my Aunt.” Luna and Celestia both wince at their part in this mess. ”Then I find out that I can melt through marble if I’m embarrassed enough. Oh and my father was Clover the Clever, a mare. As if those revelations weren’t trying enough I discover that now that I analyse it, my adoptive parents wanted to get rid of me the first chance they got! It’s just too much. And now that I think about it why did you need to put me into stasis Auntie? You’re an alicorn you could have protected me. Or pretended to be my Mother.”

Celestia cleared her throat as she began to answer. “I couldn’t, I was too weak from the battle with my sister and the use of the elements.  I could barely stand let alone cast the spells I would have had to cast to defend you and finally I didn’t pretend that you were my daughter because if I had done so for 1000 years and then told you who your real mother is or have her tell you, it was too hard to bear the thought that you’d hate me. I’m sorry I was so selfish!” Celestia broke down sobbing tears staining her coat. Twilight slowly trotted over to Celestia’s side. She held her and the both of them broke down crying again Though I am upset at her, it doesn’t mean I can’t comfort her. Celestia sniffed “So that is why. Many may claim I could have won but not like that, not with how weakened I was. We maybe immortal but we aren’t invulnerable.”

“It’s okay Auntie.” Twilight nuzzled into Celestia’s neck “I forgive you.” Twilight sniffed as once again Celestia broke down into tears. After a few moments Celestia’s face hardened. “They shall pay for hurting you Twilight.” Celestia said angry smashing a hoof into the dining table causing pancakes to fly over them and Twilight to flinch due to her proximity.

Twilight looked up at Celestia she was about to say something when a posh whine came from behind them as a white unicorn with a blonde mane. “Auntie!” Blueblood whined as everyone face hoofed. In stormed Blueblood as he extricated himself from his brief interaction with pancakes that stuck to his face.

“Augh! Who let that commoner back in here? What was her name Twit wit Spankle” Blueblood questioned pointing a hoof in the direction of Twilight.

Twilight Glowered at Blueblood “That’s Twilight Sparkle to you, Blueblood and I am a buck mothering Princess, I made a lot of friends to earn this title. I deserve to be called such.” a smug smile replacing the tears that still stained her face. As Blueblood stood there agape scoffing at Twilight "A title earned does not one royalty make. Out of my sight peasant filth!" disgust clearly expressed on his face.

“Twilight! Language young fillies don’t swear!” Luna admonished, causing Twilight to flinch her ears laid flat against her head. Shortly she started glaring at Blueblood. Meanwhile Celestia snickered. Earning a brief glare herself.

“Auntie surely you didn’t make her a princess!?” Blueblood looked pleadingly at Celestia who returned a glare at him not in the mood to deal with the princeling.

“I didn’t make Twilight a princess.” The prince sighed in relief. “She was a princess long before you were born and let it be known that Twilight is my blood related niece!” A satisfied smile danced across Celestia’s lips as she watched the princeling open and shut his mouth doing an impressive impression of a goldfish.

Luna interjected “And Twilight is my daughter Blueblood!” Before levelling a cold glare at the prince that could freeze boiling lava. “You will treat her with respect a full princess of Equestria deserves!”

Prince Blueblood looked like he was about to argue when Celestia held a hoof out to stop him “Do not even bother trying to argue with us, soon her Alicorn form will return and she will be whole again.”

Blueblood galloped out of the room, spouting curses. Twilight was the first to say something “How is it that a piece of trash like Blueblood is a prince?” Twilight asked no pony in particular.

Celestia still answered well he is the prince of the unicorns, Commander Spitfire is the leader of the Pegasi and Mayor mare is the leader of the earth ponies. They all trace their lineage back to the founders of Equestria prince Blueblood was a descendant of Princess platinum unfortunately this fact has made him grow up into an arrogant foal—”

Luna picked up where Celestia left off “—Our friend princess Platinum was arrogant just like Blueblood. However our friendship tamed her somewhat. However not many ponies have my patience and as such Blueblood doesn’t have friends who look past or help him with his arrogance. Don’t ever let your lineage turn into an arrogant pony my daughter remember your friends and remember your family.”

“My friends!! I have to tell them I am okay!” Luna smiled down at Twilight.

“It is okay Twilight, Celestia sent them a letter to inform them right Tia?” Celestia tried to hide behind her wings, a sheepish smile upon her face.

“I kinda forgot. Sorry.” Celestia said apologetically as Luna face hoofed again and sighed in exasperation.

“Well it looks like we get to write the letter then.” Luna said turning to Twilight who conjured a scroll, quill and ink. All levitating in her magic.

“Well if you’ll excuse me I have to oversee squabbling nobles and sycophants in the day court.” Celestia leant over and nuzzled Twilight and then her Sister.

“Take care you two. Oh you might want to invite Cadence and Shining Armor as well.” Celestia winked back at Twilight.

“Let’s get to it then, Mom!” Twilight exclaimed as she brought quill to parchment.

“Mom!?” Luna sputtered.

“Well yes you are my Mother, however I felt it was too formal and stiff for my liking. So I am just going to call you Mom because it’s more casual and familiar.” Twilight beamed as she explained herself to Luna.

Spike asked “Princess seeing as Twilight is my sister is it okay if I call you Mom too.”

Luna considered it for a couple of seconds her head down and brought a hoof to her chin. “Okay you may Spike.” Luna replied Spike jumped up and wrapped his little arms around Luna’s neck in a hug. Luna draped her left foreleg around Spike to hug him back.

“Well okay then. Let’s get on with this letter.” Luna replied then cleared her throat.

In the frozen north Shining Armor was inside the Crystal Palace’s dining hall, eating corn dogs. Best invention since the Mare Light. As he bit into one as  a loud fillyish squeal erupted causing him to choke on the corn dog he had just bitten off, after a few tries dislodging it himself and aid from one of the crystal pony guards. He gasped for precious air. Coughing in between breaths.

“Soldier, come with me!” Shining ordered the guard who had helped him. It sounded like it came from the throne room.

Racing to the throne room Shining sweated from nerves. The guard bringing up the rear.

They reach the throne room doors and burst through, Cadence sat at the end of the room on the throne a letter floating in her light blue magic. Shining rushed by the many windows as he reached Cadence’s side.

“Cadence honey? What’s wrong?” he ask placing his hoof to her cheek concern evident in his voice.

“Oh nothing’s wrong Shiny! It couldn’t be better! I finally got my Sister back!” Cadence squee’d.

Shining armor scratched at his neck. “Who is this sister? I don’t remember you mentioning her.” Shining asked thoroughly confused.

“Oh Shiny don’t be silly you’ve known her for most of her life. It’s Twilight.”

Shining backed away a bit to look her in the eyes.

“Cadence, Twilight’s my sister.” He looked at her as if she was going crazy.

“Oh, Shiny I am not crazy. I am surprised that your mother and father never told you. Twilight Sparkle is adopted, her real mother was my mother, Princess Luna!”

“What!? I’m not Twilight’s bbbff?” Shining deflated and was lost in thought when Cadence booped him on the nose.

“Silly, you’re still her bbbff. Nothing can change that and she’s going to need us more than ever. I mean look at it this way if you’re freaking out imagine how Twilight is taking the news?”

“Celestia’s beard!” Canterlot is in danger. Shining Armor grabbed Cadence’s hoof and her emergency luggage and dragged her to the Crystal empire train station.

“I’m coming Twily!— Please don’t go on a rampage!” Shining said panting as he ran through the castle corridors. Cadence sighed and rolled her eyes as Shining levitated her behind him.
