~1500 years ago~
It was midnight. Everypony was snuggled up in their beds, some were foals, some were stallions, but they were all asleep waiting for the next day to arrive.
In a sophisticated elegant mansion there was a little filly snoring peacefully in her heavenly bed. A beautiful pearl white blanket with the finest tiny suns were patterned all over it covered the little pony.
She was special from all the over ponies, because this pony had a pair of white wings and a horn which made her an Alicorn. An Alicorn was the highest and most rarest of breeds to be found, they were considered to be the rulers of Equestria because ponies believed that they represented the trust and harmony between all tribes. This certain Alicorn had the whitest of white coats and a rose pink mane flowing naturally down her head. Her mauve eyes were closed and she had a yellow sun on her flank as her cutie mark.
Suddenly Celestia's eyes opened. She could her somepony trotting through the hallways. She didn't scream as she learned from her father that the best solution was to get a good eye on the burglar and then reported to the police.
The sound of hooves was getting louder and louder, Celestia realised the were heading to her! The door was ajar so the mysterious pony just had to push it a bit to enter the room. Although the door creaked a bit, it did not wake up any other soul. This pony was wearing a clock that covered them entirely, so Celestia couldn't identify them.
Celestia's breathing pattens were more rapid with every hoof step. Then the pony ripped off the blanet of the filly.
"Ahhhh!" Celestia screamed before a hoof stopped her.
"Jeez, Tia! What you tryin' to do? Wake up everypony in the mansion," a calmer yet much more mischievous feminine tone entered the room. Celestia instantly knew the 'mysterious' mare.
"Phew," Celestia sighed,"Amberina Rose, you scared me to death, how could you?" She was quite angry, I thought that YOU our eldest sister would be more mature than this, but silly me... "Why aren't you asleep!? Our coronation to be true rulers of Equestria is TOMORROW for crying out loud!"
The sly pony's emerald eyes locked on Celestia and a smirk grew on her face. Oh Tia, you are such a worry guts. Sometimes I wonder if you're nuts. The filly knew better than to say it out loud...just. "Don't worry 'bout tomorrow little sis, everypony will be looking at ME! I'll be suprised if any pony notices you."
Celestia sighed. "Well anyway, I have to catch on my beauty sleep for tomorrow because unlike you, I actually HAVE some responsibilities to take care of tomorrow. What are you going to do?" Celestia interrogated.
"Take care of Luna, Duh!" Amber replied, as if that was the most important thing in the world.
Celestia rolled her eyes. "Well I need to sleep, and so do you," she bluntly said before showing her sister of her and pulling the blanket back on her. "Goodnight!"
It was the coronation day and everypony was excited!
The sisters were behind the curtain waiting to face their to-be subjects.
"So, who's ready to give me my tiara? 'Cause I am,"Amber entered the scene showing off as usual.
Celestia gulped,"Um... Well you see... I...um... I forgot to tell you this last night, but..."
Amber's ears dropped, she realised something was wrong."What did you do? I am getting a crown, right?"
Celestia' mother, Sunlight jumped in before things could get any worse. "Now Amberina, your father and I have decided that you're not... ready yet to become a princess, I hope you're not upset."
Realising this wasn't a joke, Amber sighed and slowly trudged out of sight.
Luna looked upset and started welling up,"Ambwer, where's Ambwer going?" The puzzled foal asked.
Celestia sighed, why did she have to be the one doing this? "It's okay Luna, she'll come around...I hope." She muttered the last part not wanting to scare Luna any more. Yet why did she feel worried?
Celestia and Luna were standing on the stage, tiaras sparkling in the sunlight. Everypony was cheering for the new princesses, Princess Celestia of the Day and Princess Luna of the Night. Celestia was proud, but also upset. How could she be up here celebrating her new title, when her sister just lost out? She groaned, this was all her fault, SHE was the one who told her parents about her sisters pranks.
While Celestia was lecturing herself, she notice the tiniest glimpse of a pony with a black cloak in the corner. Yet what struck her the most is that they had an indigo mane peeaking out of the cloak. Celestia rubbedher eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things, but just like that the figure was gone.
Amber was standing in a corner, watching as the coronation went on. Why am I the one missing out? I should be there. Celestia doesn't want me to be a ruler 'cause she feels scared. Well I'll show her! Amber started heading to their home, if she is gooing to miss out on something, then so will Celestia. Now it was time for sweet revenge!
Amber was trotting around their new home. An elegant castle, located in the Everfree Forest. She knew that there had to have been something to help her get revenge. There she found it, the Alicorn Amulet! Amber smirked, she heard plenty of stories from her mother to know that it held unlimited power.
"Hah, when I have this Equestria will pay for of having me as their ruler," she announced to no one in particular. She took the amulet out of the protective cover and slipped it on.
Then her coat turned as black as the night sky and her mane and eyes bright red. Amber laughed as she felt the power running through her hooves.
"First order of business, getting rid of my sister Tia forever," Amber eyes the hallway, looking for her sister's room.
Celestia pondered over the day's events that happened. How will her sister forgive her for doing that? Sure her mum and dad decided Amber shouldn't be a ruler but she could have stopped them. Celestia closed her eyes as tears streamed down her face. "Oh Amber, I'm so sorry," she broke the unbearable silence in her room.
"Don't worry, soon everypony else will be too," a second voice chimed in. Celestia fixed her eyes on the door.
"Huh, Amber what are you doing here?" Celestial eyes grew when she realised her transformation. What should she do?
"DON'T act so innocent with me 'cause I won't fall for it. You know exactly why I'm here, I should have gotten a crown but you felt threatened by me so you cast me out, but now you'll know how much you truly hurt me!" Amber's eyes glowed as she let out her angry, all her new power flourishing to her horn. "I guess you know how powerful the Alicorn Amulet is, don't you teacher's pet!?"
Celestia shut her eyes, terrified off what might come next. Suddenly two other ponies bursted in. Sunlight stood up and announced,"Stop Amber, we were he ones who made the decision not Celestia, so take off the Alicorn Amulet and let's talk." Sunlight and her husband Blue Moon toke one step.
"No! Celestia is going to pay, you will all pay! But unfortunately I'm gonna have to get rid of you Mom, Dad! Long live the queen," Amber shot a powerful magic blast, but not before Blue Moon got out a wierd looking object and held it out. When the shot hit them, Amber felt a strange sensation, her Alicorn Magic was being drained. Soon she was nothing but a unicorn. The Alicorn Amulet unclasped from her her neck. "No.." Her voice was nothing but a mere whisper.
Blue Moon stood up, hurt from the attack. "We're sorry Amber but it was the only way. Unless you can control your temper, you shall remain a unicorn forever." He stepped forward, but Amber ran swiftly out of the door and said "One day I will come back for revenge and no pony will stop me."
Celestia started to cry, sure her sister was reckless but she was also fun. The thought of never seeing her again filled Celestia with sadness. Starlight came and gave Celestia a cuddle,"It was the only way..."
~Present~
Celestia walked through he Canterlot castle and spotted and old picture of Amber. She picked it up and held it to her heart. "Oh Amber I wish you were here..."
