“I'd rather be not the light in your life
The bright day might make me obscure
I'd rather be the cold darkness
For it remains, unseen, uncertain and unsure”

Darkness
Spike was ready to execute his vengeance that same afternoon. He got a gun from Big Macintosh (as an added benefit, he knew Big Mac would never talk about the topic with anyone). While he was ready to go about with his revenge, he still felt unsure about if he wanted to kill Rarity or try to save her, or if even she could be saved at all.
He was thinking about his vengeance when his phone rang. He pulled it out, fully expecting it to be Rarity or Sombra calling to mock him. Spike said “Hello?” loud, and aggressively. He was surprised to hear a young woman’s voice on the other end.
“Spike?” the girl said, and Spike immediately recognized it was his friend and adoptive big sister, Twilight Sparkle, who recently moved to another city. It was also immediately apparent that she was very scared. “Spike, it’s me, Twilight.”
“Twilight?” Spike said, his head spinning. So much was going on, it was hard to stay ahead of it all. “Twilight, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“I’m in my library right now, Spike,” Twilight said. “I, I got jumped last night by some masked people. I think there were, five of them. Big men. They came out of nowhere and, and,” Twilight was getting a little choked up. She wasn’t just in pain but obviously upset too. Spike just waited and listened. He knew this was no coincidence, but he had no idea what to say. “Spike, they just beat me up for some reasons. They took me to a back alley. They removed my clothes and...”
“D-did they...?” Spike asked, feeling as if he was going to puke.
"No. It seemed like they were ready to rape me, but apparently their intention was just to scare me." Twilight sounded so weak and help;ess when she said that.
"When did this happen?" Spike had the uncomfortable certainty that it was no mere coincidence.
“Last night,” Twilight was crying “I wanted to call you earlier, but I’ve been in pretty bad condition. Listen, Spike, you have to listen to me. This was no mugging. They didn’t take anything. They just said one thing. It was a message. They said, ‘Tell Spike to be a good boy.’ That’s all they said. What the hell is going on Spike? Are you in trouble with some organized crime or something?”
Spike stood there in the middle of his ruined living room, listening to the faint beep sound from the other end of the phone. What could he say? The message was clear. Don’t do anything, anything at all, to come after Rarity or Sombra. Otherwise your friends will be next. He felt like he had been punched in the gut, as all his intentions of vengeance now seemed completely unrealistic. King Sombra was obviously bigger than he had contemplated. Spike didn’t have the kind of resources to take down some kind of… whatever the man was. Was he a mafia boss? Was he truly able to use magic to get what he wanted? Spike didn’t know how to explain the situation, didn’t know if he even understood what it was, didn’t know if he could describe it to Twilight without completely humiliating himself or looking like a madman.
But what worried him the most was that if he said anything to her and she tried to act against Sombra he might be putting Twiligt in risk of her life...or something else. Not to mention the rest of their friends.
Spike collapsed onto the couch. “Hello? Spike? You there?” Twilight said. “Spike, talk to me, what the hell is going on?”
“I’m sorry Twilight,” Spike said, completely defeated. “I can’t say anything, because I don’t want to put you in any more danger. Please, just trust me on this. I’ll come out and see you as soon as I can.”
Spike spoke with Twilight a little more, to calm her down, and get more details, and tried to play everything down as much as possible, which wasn’t very possible. In the end, Spike had to just insist that he would talk more later. He hung up the phone.
Spike suddenly threw his phone against the wall and it broke into a few, unrepairable pieces. He screamed at the top of his lungs. It was so unfair. It was so unfair that she could do that to him and get away with it. He was full of a rage and pain like he never knew he could feel. He was so wrapped up in agony that he couldn’t do anything except wail and rage to nobody.
He looked at the loaded gun at is disposal. It would be so easy to use it, to put an end to his suffering. Did he had the courage? He remembered Sombra’s words, about how he would live with the pain in his heart forever. The bastard thought that Spike wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. In a sudden fit of rage, he took the gun and was few seconds away from shooting himself before a gentle knocking on the door interrupted his thoughts.
“Spike, Spike, open the door, please” The voice was that of Sweetie Belle, Rarity younger sister. He knew her almost for as long as he had known Rarity, and since the day they met Spike had always been something of an older brother for the girl, even though he was just two years her senior. “I know you are there, I heard you screaming, please, open the door”
“This is not a good moment Sweetie Belle, go away” Spike was too tired and too mad to feign courtesy at the moment.
“Is it because you had a fight with Rarity?” Sweetie voice was slow, as if she was afraid of something.
Spike couldn’t believe his ears “Have you talked with your sister!? How much do you know? Tell me?” Spike tone was abrasive and demanding, right then he had no interest for subtleltly.
“Spike, let me in, I feel silly talking to a door.” Sweetie voice revealed that Spike had scared her, but she kept insisting “Please?”
There was a long silence, finally broken by the creaking door as it opened. Sweetie Belle walked slowly into the apartment, watching the horrible sight of the whole place trashed. “Your fight with my sis must have been pretty intense.”
“You could say that.” Spike said as he and Sweetie were sitting on the couch. “Rarity talked with you?”
“Uhmm…no” Sweetie Belle blushed. “I just guessed you know, Rarity and you have been so distant from everyone else for a long time now, those kind of things happen when a couple fight, I think. I’m not precisely someone with experience in those things.”
“Well, you are right; we had a very hard falling.” Spike voice was a sad monotone. “Everything ended for both of us, she cheated on me with someone.”
Slightly more relaxed, Spike told a condensed version of his ordeal to Sweetie Belle. He left the more unbelievable elements out, and tried to reduce as much as he could of her sister evilness. He was not completely sure if he did so because she still believed that deep down Rarity was being manipulated, or because she feared how Sweetie Belle would react to learning the full story of how Rarity had acted.
Sweetie Belle believed Spike’s tale completely. “I feared so. I was worried for her…and for you.” Her final words were almost a whisper, but she instantly perked up “Come on Spike, cheer up, it can’t be that bad. Perhaps Rarity and you just were not meant to be together.”
“It is worse than that. We were not only meant to be together. It was our destiny. But she doesn’t love me anymore.” Spike seemed to be on the verge of crying “Perhaps she never did.”
“And you Spike?” Sweetie Belle, took his hand between hers “Do you still love my sister?”
Spike’s face lost color at that question. He looked at Sweetie Belle as if it was the first time she saw her and he could feel his rage burst. “Is this another one of your games? You are here to mock me?”
Sweetie Belle looked genuinely scared, she tried to stand up and separate from Spike but he was clutching her hand with far too much strength. “I don’t know what you are talking about Spike! Please, release my hand, you are hurting me!”
“Release you? And then what? You are going back to your new boyfriend and laugh about how I’m such a loser, a fucking idiot!? You... you... you bitch!” Spike was completely out of control, he pushed Sweetie Belle to the couch face down, the sweet girl eyes tearing “You... bloody... self-righteous... whore!”
“Spike! Spike! Stop it, please. We need to talk about your feelings. Spike, what happened…AHAHH!” The innocent girl cried in pain and shame, as spike took one of her well developed breasts and groped it with excessive force trough her white dress.
“You know what I really want to do with bitches such as you?” Spike sounded completely crazed, like a beast. He was licking her neck and smelling her hair “I want to fuck you in all your holes. Because you are such a bitch, I want to use you, not caring if you enjoy it or not. I’d like to take you solely for my pleasure and not give a damn if you like it, or how much I would hurt you. Hell, I’d even hurt you on purpose; just to show you my power.” As he said all that, he was groping Sweetie’s legs, ass and tits. Spike was raising her dress and groping every inch of her body in animalistic lust.
Sweetie Belle was crying softly and struggling weakly, but made no serious attempt to escape the imposing hands that were continuously invading her privacy. Her face completely obscured by the couch and between moans, she said in her gentle sweet voice “Please Spike, no!”
In his lust, Spike barely could hear the words of the squirming girl below him. “You have been a bad girl you slut. I will give you the punishment you deserve.”
"Spike! Y-you're not REALLY gonnAHHH!" Sweetie's voice failed her when she felt Spike's palm smack against her soft bottom. The slap wasn't hard, in fact she only should had felt a tingle after the initial sting, but the shock of actually being struck made Sweetie scream in panic.
"AHHH-Ekk!" Again, Spike struck her wiggling ass with his hand, slightly more powerfully this time, but still without much force behind it.
Sweetie felt Spike's palm smack again and again into her bottom cheeks. Progressively, Spike's spanks became a bit more forceful with each slap. Sweetie's eyes released quickly the tears she had been gathering as she felt her bottom begin to ache from the pain.
Drooling with desire, Spike completely lifted the moaning girl dress, in order to rip her thong and fuck her right then and there. He noticed the big white pristine panties covering her ass and pussy, the undergarment slightly wet. It seemed weird, Rarity always used black thongs and other types of overly sensual lingerie…
Then it struck him like a freight train, the reality of the situation. He noticed that the girl below him was not a laughing Rarity, but actually a sobbing Sweetie Belle. Looking at the sweet girl in that state completely crushed him. She was trembling furiously, both hands covering her crying face, the absolute fear she felt palpable on the air.
"Sweetie Belle…" Spike felt like a piece of the worst trash after what he had almost done to her. And even now, he needed to use all his concentration to avoid imagining Sweetie face and body as if she was Rarity.
Silently, Spike waited for the sweet girl to release all the tears she needed and calm herself down. After she stopped crying and fixed slightly her appearance, she excused herself, and left his apartment. As he saw her go, Spike realized that she was deeply scarred with the incident, and her eyes had a light of pure fear against him. Hating himself perhaps more than ever, but conscious that sooner or later he would need to speak with Sweetie Belle and repair the damage he had done, he forgot all about his suicide plans for now.
“You left the card in the apartment floor?”
“Yes, I did.”
“What about the toys?”
“They are on the main room. Thought I still don’t know what is this all about, Crystal, I can’t believe our Majesty really ordered this.”
“We have no need to understand the reasons behind. As slaves, we must follow our Majesty orders.”
“I still can’t believe it though. What If the dragon doesn’t act as predicted?”
“Unlikely, his soul will force him to go sooner or later. But if the need arises, either us or the King would do the job himself when the moment comes.”
“So it's all decided already.”
“Indeed, that person is a loose end in the King’s plans, and shall be eliminated. Now we just need to wait for the dragon to make his move.”
What Sombra said proved to be truer as the weeks went on afterward. Spike wanted to hate Rarity with the same equal murderous rage that he felt for King Sombra. However, he found himself missing her, and wanting her, and needing her. When he masturbated, he thought of her. He sometimes called her phone, and though she never answered, it was still in service, so he left all sorts of messages. Sometimes he would scream angrily, sometimes he would beg to be with her. He always felt stupid for doing it, because he knew that she would just laugh at him while fucking Sombra. And still he kept doing it, almost daily.
And in the night, he thought endlessly about the weird things the King had said. That somewhere, in an unlimited number of alternate universes, he and Rarity were together and happy. He imagined different versions of him, all of them enjoying a good happy time with their friends, in loving and joyous situations. The knowledge did not comfort him on the least. Quite the contrary, he resented those hypothetical alternate realities, for having everything he would never had.
His friends started to drift away one by one as he became more bitter and short tempered, and he was afraid of involving them in Sombra and Rarity twisted games. Only Sweetie Belle tried to keep in touch with him, even after the horrible things he had done to her and even after he tried to distance himself from the girl. He couldn’t tell her, that every time he was in front of Sweetie Belle cute smiling face, his mind painted Rarity evil laughing visage. Spike was afraid he could lose his control again and hurt Sweetie Belle, or do something worse to her.
Spike was not an idiot, he was quite aware that Sweetie Belle had a massive crush on him, and deep down, he had knew it for years before marrying Rarity. But apparently, his cruel destiny did not want for him to ever return her feelings. First because he was stupidly loyal to Rarity and right now because he still was unable to forget about Rarity and quite frankly he believed that Sweetie Belle deserved someone better than him.
Finally he reached a breaking point. A couple of months after being left by Rarity he decided to end everything. Sweetie Belle deserved someone better than him. And he had to do something to bring closure to his life, otherwise he would go mad and the poor sweet girl that had a crush on a stupid pathetic loser like him would never be free to look for someone worthy of her affections.
He took his gun, checked the address in the black and red card one last time, and went to the center of the city. He needed to end this just as it began, with the three of them together.
