"It has been awhile since I visited ponyville, no doubt pinky will throw a party," he thought chuckling and thought what there reactions would be, Pinky would throw a party, Twilight would probably start talking about arcane theories, Rarity would want to go to the spa and talk about modeling for suits, Rainbow would want him to see her new tricks, and Fluttershy, she would want to rack his mind for all of the animals he had seen in his travels. "I know Applejack wanted me to teach her some combat training," he thought Its not like they haven't talked to him before, but never more then a hour or two, this vacation would be at least a week knowing Celestia's tendencies. The train came into the station rousing him from his thoughts, the whistle blew as the train stopped to let passengers off, some stopped and stared for a minute, others just walked by. "They must be new in Canterlot." I thought. "This might be the first time they see an alicorn up close." As the last of the pony's got off a familiar voice said "Ah quicksilver welcome a board laddie, how are yah?" "I'm good, I'm actually off to Ponyville for a mandatory extended vacation," Quicksilver smiled at his old friend Rusty gears. "Mandatory extended vacation, you need the princess to order you to go out side and get some fresh air?" Rusty laughed. "Well at least I get a vacation," Quicksilver said stepping into the train cart. "Well when I get wings, a horn ,and boring desk job will talk about this again," Rusty returned, looking at his pocket watch "Well all aboard next stop ponyville," he yelled as the train started down the track. "I need to get him a vacation lined up for him." Quicksilver sighed. "He works so hard to keep this train on time." The ride was uneventful and didn't take long and soon he was at the ponyville train station. Hadn't taken more then a step when a blast of confetti assaulted his face, a pink pony was not far after, tackling him to the ground. "Its so good to see you," Pinky shouted. "Its good to see you too" Quicksilver trying to get up only to be tackling again. "wow quicksilver you really should keep your guard up," a rainbow mained pegasus said quickly rolling off of him. Quicksilver got up again only to be clocked with a book, a very heavy book "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry i was just so excited to show you this theory I found," twilight said panicked, looking at the unconscious form of quicksilver. "Would y'all stop tackling him," Applejack said along pulling a wagon of fresh hey "now why don't y'all get him in the wagon and will take him to sweet apple acres" Apple jack moved the cart over to the boarding platform. "That's a great idea apple jack" Twilight lifted the male alicorn into the soft hey. 3 Home away from work (WIP)three home away from work Quicksilver woke up to the smell of apple pie, sitting up and looking around he found he was in the apple's residence "What happened" he said rubbing his aching head "You were hit with a pretty big book." A familiar southern pony said pulling out a fresh pie from the oven. "hungry?" "Yes thank you" Quicksilver said taking a slice. "So what brings you in town?" she said sitting down next to him. "Mandatory extended vacation" he said munching on a piece pie. "She ordered you to go on vacation, well I guess after what you went though, she would have too" she said chuckling. "I sure wasn't ready for it." he shook his head. "some generals could learn how to set up a better ambush from those three." "Yeah so I didn't see any bags or luggage with you, I hope we didn't miss them" she said nervously. "No I have a house on the outskirts of ponyville, it has anything I need" quicksilver said reassuringly. Applejack smiled "Good, that's a relief, when will you be headed off to your house," she said standing from the couch. "I probably should go now." Quicksilver stood up and turned to the door. "thank you for the pie." "Nah twas nothing" she said as Quicksilver left and started down the path. After walking on the edge of the everfree for about fifteen minutes he reached the clearing were his house was, it was a decent sized house but not much bigger then most others, the first room was large with thick shag carpet, a plush couch, and a warm fireplace. The kitchen was basically a master chef's paradise, two stoves, two sinks, plenty of counter space for any culinary use, and a large pantry filled to its max. The study had walls upon walls of books, scrolls, and artifacts from ancient civilizations. But Quicksilver spent most of his time in the garden, most of it was covered in zebra violets and silver roses. A stone path led to a large pond, the crystal clear water was smooth and unaffected by the wind. Quicksilver would often meditate in front of it, staring deep into the water and some times visions would come to him, visions of joy and love or visions of loss and sadness, he saw them all. "Well its been a while since I was here," he said. Opening the door and stepping inside, he walked in the the main room and flopped onto the couch. "Ah this feels so good" he sighed sinking into the plush cushion he was about to fall asleep when there was knock on his door, standing from the couch and as he was walking to the door he thought. "I wonder who is there, Twilight and her friends don't know were I live do they?" He opened the door to find Rainbow dash, Pinky pie, and Twilight. "uh how did you find my house?" he said "well celestia wrote directions in the last letter she sent" twilight said rummaging in her saddlebags for the letter. "Not to mention Rainbow dash saw you walking this way and remembered seeing a house on the edge of the everfree" Pinky explained "yeah I was wondering why there was a house out here," Rainbow said "so its your house, I didn't know you had property in ponyville." "well I its not really in Ponyville but I needed a place besides my office in Canterlot so I had this house built as a vacation home," Quicksilver explained 1 The militiaChapter one The militia The day started like any other day, Quicksilver was working at his desk, reviewing reports and paper work, he sighed as he looked out the window at a bright summer afternoon "How can ponies do this all day without stop?" he thought "I would go crazy if this was all I did." shaking his head and trying to focus on the papers in front of him. He was trying to decide whether or not to increase the salaries of the guards. "Were already paying them to just stand around all day, and now they want more for it? he thought. A knock on his door brought him back to reality. "Come in" he said, the door opened reveling that Princess Celestia was his surprise visitor. "Your highness what is it" Quicksilver said looking up from his work. "I came to see if you had finished that report" she said, the report she was taking about was recruitment report, a report of all the new recruits of the last month, "Ah yes here it is" Quicksilver said levitating a scroll to her, she opened it and started reading over its contents, it didn't take her long the list was very small. "Not very many this month is there" she said rolling up the scroll and returning it to him, "I'm a afraid not, outside of ceremony there hasn't been much need for a standing army," Quicksilver said rubbing his temples. "That is true but, we cant just ignore the possibility of war," Celestia said sitting down on a couch in the room, he knew that she was worried, that something is going to happen, and soon. She sighed "I don't wish for war its just" - she paused trying to get her feelings and thoughts together - "we must be ready to defend are selves, twilight can't keep solving all of are problems," she said her tone slightly rising. He could see the tiredness in her eye's, this was a subject that had weighed heavily on her mind, "well I have to agree that is true" he said sighing. "I'll commission a training yard for the training of the militia" he said grabbing a pen and a blank piece of parchment and began writing the request. "Thank you Quicksilver," she said rising and walking to the door, but just as the door shut, it opened again "oh one last thing," she said with a small smile "After you're done with that, you're going on mandatory extended vacation" she then shut the door and left him process what just happened, "Do I seriously have that many unused vacation days" he thought. He shrugged and left to take his request to the blacksmith for the training weapons.
