Most people don't usually let their differences get in the way of socializing or befriending others. But Benjamin Curtis is not like most people. For a long time, this person has kept interaction with others to a minimum. Not because he wants to, but because he feels like he has to.

Benjamin's not the kind of person who thinks the world is better off without him. In fact, he used to have a very friendly personality. Nowadays, he practically never leaves his house, except for when he's at his high school. But even there, he still continues to avoid others by occupying himself with a book. But for what reason?

Well, the best way to summarize that reason is with one word: Protection. You see, at age 12, Benjamin discovered the existence of an extraordinary power within him, and how to use it. Keeping this ability a secret, he began using it to his own advantage and benefit, growing more and more careless as time went on. But after accidentally inflicting a serious injury on someone with his power, his confidence and behavior took a tremendous downfall.

The current year is 2015, 2 years after the accident. And Benjamin, now 16 years old, still hasn't changed. Though he does occasionally wonder why his power still exists, he never uses it anymore, knowing how much of a threat it really is to others, and to himself. Little does he know that this power will play a vital role in the journey that awaits him. A journey that will not only introduce him to some friendly new faces, but will also reveal his power's origin, and restore the kind, welcoming nature he once possessed.
