Catching him in the act
Aiden lay in his cot.
His little dumpster base was hidden near the castle of the two sisters, covered in moss and foliage. The door barely worked.
'This forest certainly isn't like the ones back home', Aiden had thought very often.
The small base had retained all its medication, parts, and weapons that it had in the previous world. Aiden had been especially cautious when he crept up to the unstable chemical components that might have been jostled in the teleport.
His computer worked, but in a strange way. He couldn't access the internet, which wasn't surprising. What was surprising was that bursts of static came in waves whenever he used it.
When investigating the source of this interference, he found high levels of electricity in the air around him. He couldn't track the source to any device, so he assumed it was because of the horned horses.
When he had first gotten there, he had crawled out of the base to find tall trees surrounding him. He quickly adjusted and discovered that this was not a digital trip, and set out to find civilization, if there was any.
Upon stumbling upon Ponyville, he quickly hid back in the bushes. There were horses out there!
After more spying, he quickly determined there were three types of horses. Horses with horns, which he dubbed "unicorns," due to there similarities to the mythical animal. The horse with wings he had seen was probably a pegasus, due to its similarity to the mythical Greek godly horse. The last ones were just... well, horses.
They also all had strange tattoo-like marks on their flanks. Aiden took note of this, reminding himself to learn about this later.
Under closer inspection, the unicorns could levitate things and cast spells, or in simpler terms, magic.
Aiden was surprised by this until he noticed their extreme lack of technology and its replacement by this "magic."
He fiddled around with the electricity tracker on the profiler. There was electricity coming from the unicorn's horns, the... (pegasuses's? pegasi's? He decided to settle on "pegasi") pegasi's wings, and the regular horse's whole body. He wondered why the normal horse had magic until he saw one of them buck a tree. Yeah, those muscles were definitely not big enough to rattle a whole tree!
Aiden had dashed back to the small room of his, and immediately began tweaking his phone. It now was able to tap into the specific magical signatures that each of these horses had. When testing the device in the field, he had learned different equines had slightly different magical traces, somewhat like a magical fingerprint.
This lead to him formulating a plan to identify the miniature horses.
One dark night, he had snuck into the largest building in town, the one with a large spire that he assumed to be the town hall. He snuck into it under the cover of night, easily getting past the single horse guard that lacked a weapon of any sort. He riffled through the records, grabbed the lists of residents, then snuck out with the information containing the horses' names, address, physical description... and the marks on their flanks, labeled as "cutie marks," which Aiden frowned upon and deemed an exceedingly dumb name.
Now, he could profile anyone in the area of "Ponyville." Aiden decided that they should probably fire whoever named the towns. According to the records, he found that the normal horses were actually called "earth ponies" and the was one resident of a different species, called an "alicorn" named Twilight Sparkle.
That night, he decided to do some field testing.
Under the cover of the abnormally large moon (He'd checked- it was over two times the size of Earth's moon!), he climbed up onto one of the building's roofs with a grunt. He was more careful then usual because of the unusual material used for roofing.
He pulled out his phone, looking for potential criminals. He was rewarded with a blue hexagon, a "crime in progress" marker. He found that it was coming from the purple, white, and gold spire. He ran, jumping off the lowest part of the roof and only taking about a four foot fall. After about two minutes, he reached the front door.
"Ow! Get out, you ruffian! You are a crime against fashion!" a voice yelled from the interior.
Aiden ran through the already smashed door to find two ponies fighting. There was an earth pony dressed in black about to knock out a unicorn with a white coat and purple mane. Aiden pulled out his M8-M revolver and fired in into the earth pony's right leg. He fell down.
"What was that? Ow!" he yelled.
Aiden clubbed him across the head with his baton, shutting him up.
"Er... well... thank you?" the unicorn mare said, looking at the creature that towered over her.
Aiden allowed himself to smile a bit underneath his neck-warmer scarf. "Haven't you heard? I'm the vigilante. I clean up mess like him."
He then ran out the front door back into the forest.
