Welcome to the Badlands
Chapter 1: It exists - Discovery of Equestria
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI began to laugh and cry at the same time as I fell to my haunches , dropping my small amount of luggage, that consisted of a small sack tied to a stick, and let my face small into the stream of CLEAN and CLEAR water. I quickly launched back up, and grabbed my canteen from around my neck and began to fill it, after dumping out the muddy water that was in it before. I noticed my changeling friend doing the same, and smiled at him, as he smiled back at me. I drank the water faster than I had ever drank water before, and was quick to refill it. I usually didn't let my guard down like this, but with soft grass beneath my hooves, and greens trees littering the hilly landscape around us, I couldn't care less. My dirty gray coat was only muddier, since I had fallen into the small stream in front of us, but I, again, couldn't care less.
Me and Sparky were smiling ear to ear, which was an odd thing to do in the badlands. Sparky, whithout a word, pulled out a small device.
"A tune," his gender neutral voice sighed, "to Equestria!"
"To Equestria!" I quickly chanted after him. He began to play a tune from the small device, a classic. We were so happy, we began to sing!
"Blue Moon"
Blue moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon
You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And when I looked to the moon it turned to gold
Blue moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And when I looked the moon had turned to gold
Blue moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon
Now I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
( Ambiance for you music fiends out there! Also, congrats if you knew Blue Moon because of Fallout!)
After aimlessly wandering around for a few more days, we were still lost as fire ants in a hornets nest, but we couldn't care less, Equestria was just way to beautiful to care.
"My legs are tiiiirrred!" Groaned Green Spark to my left.
"Ante up bug!" I shouted at him playfully, "Don't be gettin' weak on me cause' we found a possible paradise," I laughed out.
"Speaking of anteing up, how bouts' we rest a bit an' play some poker-" He rattled off quickly.
"Ehhh-NOPE!" I puffed my chest out and smiled broadly at him and we continued to trot along a path we found. Well, we trotted on the side of the path because we didn't wanna get shot down easy by some bandits on a wagon. Also partly because we liked the feeling of the grass on our hooves. Sparky even changed into his pony form, which he only did when we came across the occasional racist group of ponies, to feel the gentle breeze on his coat, and the damp green grass on his hooves. His pony form was a male pony with a black coat a little darker than mine with cyan eyes, and a cutie mark of a small green flame. His light green mane was shortened, because he wanted to feel the breeze on his scalp.
My dirty gray coat, and red tinted mane that was more tinted towards the end of my hair was caught is the breeze, and I enjoyed the feeling as my deep blue left eye roamed the luscious landscapes. My right eye was just a milky white after a fire gecko got a lucky hit. I quickly shot the thing with my revolver, but the damage was done. My cutie mark, or as he had called them in the wasteland (badlands), Emblem, was tingling with magic, which only happened when you would find the occasional gem deposit in a rock somewhere. They were brimming with magic. My emblem was two revolves, barrels crossed, with peace signs embroidered onto the cylinder. Hence the name Faithful Sinner I suppose.
I almost tripped when we heard the sound of a wagon's wheels rolling over the unpaved dirt. WHAT!? Equestria was supposed to be an uninhabited sanctuary. I realized this had to be populated as I starred at the ROAD we had been walking next to. We were too happy to point out the obvious. We both looked into each others eyes and whispered 'hide!' Scrambling for a tree or rock we could hide behind. We both tripped and fell. Maybe we should have rested? We tried to press ourselves to the ground, but it was to no avail. We heard the wagon pull up to us and prayed.
"Ya'll okay, pard'ners?" Said an accented female voice, "Ya'll two don't look so good."
Oh no! It's one of those crazy doctor types, I've had my fair share of pony dissection thank you very much! Wait, what was with that tone of voice? It wasn't crazy it was... concerned? Against my will, I calmed down. This reminded me of my mother and Sparky. They were the only two people (By the way, people don't mean human, it means sentient beings) that ever used that tone of voice to me. Call me mushy, but it's true okay! I looked up slowly at the orange mare with an old dusty hat on. She had an apple emblem, and has attached to a cart, carrying what I expected, apples. Sweet, plump, red apples. Not the dusty, dry, brown apples from back home. Her eyes held worry and concern as she looked down at my scars. her blonde mane and tail drifted in the wind as I groaned, and took a nap on the ground. The sight of food had taken me over the edge, and I felt safe enough, Sparky was there, so I had to be safe. Only, he launched himself at her apple cart and began to devour the juicy apples.
I woke up a few seconds later. Sparky was on the floor, passed out, and the orange mare was... protecting me?
"You okay there fella'?" She asked, eyes fixed on Sparky, "Did y'all know your friend there was a monster?"
Oh, a racist. Sparky must've been to excited and dropped his disguise. Wait, why was his head bleeding... SPARKY!
