SPOILERS!
I lose motivation fast...
Today I awoke like any other day: I rolled on to the side of the bed, rolled my Copper Fit™ knee braces up over my knee caps, and grabbed my cane. With a loud groan of pain I stood up and hobbled over to the closet to get dressed. I decided today's outfit would comprise of blue jeans and a grey t-shirt with the words "Just One Drop of Jesus' Blood Washed Away My Sins." on the chest. Checking myself in the mirror I run my fingers through my hair. 'Almost time for another haircut,' I thought.
After I had gotten dressed, eaten, and performed all of my bathroom duties I kissed my mother goodbye and began my trek towards the bus stop. This was the hardest part of my day. Not because of any bullies, or because of the stairs on the bus and in the school, no I was left alone for the most part and I had plenty of help getting around. It was because I knew I was about to waste another day of my childhood learning something I didn't need in life. The bus pulled up just as I arrived at the stop and I board it with a sigh of discontent.
The school day went by pretty smoothly. My knees gave me minimal trouble since I took some Ibuprofen during lunch time. The real trouble happened when I got home as there were police men parked in the yard and a couple of paramedics rolling my mother out on a stretcher. I limp over to the men rolling her towards the ambulance and ask what happened.
"Are you the son?" The first one asks, to which I just nod. " Your house was broken in to and your mother was shot point blank in the chest.. We're so sorry for your loss." Without another word he rolls her into the ambulance. I'm left alone in my drive, crying silent tears that burned my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. That night I cried myself to sleep.
