Chapters A Week In The Life of Sunset Shimmer
It was a hot, summer day in Canterlot. One that was good for getting some band practice in. Though it was just Sunset and Rainbow in Rainbow's garage, it was still band practice in their eyes. Sunset had presented Dash with the lyrics to a song she had written a while back and the two had just finished coming up with music for the song.
"And from the second chorus, Rarity will come in with her keytar, Pinkie goes crazy on the drums, and then me and you share an awesome shredding gutiar solo towards the end. Sounds good?" Rainbow explained, making playing movements with her hands.
Sunset, who was sitting on top of a nearby amp nodded. "Mhmm. Quick question though. Who's gonna sing? Twilight's not exactly going to be our singer every gig,"
Rainbow grinned. "I was thinking you could sing."
The guitar pick in Sunset's mouth dropped to the floor. "What?! Dash! You know me singing at the Battle of Bands was a one time thing! You guys were in trouble and if I hadn't done something we would have all-"
Dash put a hand on the other girl's shoulder. "Come on, Sunset! You're a good singer! Plus you wrote these lyrics! They're your creation. It wouldn't sound right if any of us sung it!"
"Why not?! We sang Fluttershy's song!" Sunset protested, standing up.
"Yeah, because she had been asking for weeks. Plus we needed a song to defeat The Dazzlings with." Rainbow reasoned.
"But I don't think I can play and sing at the same time!" Sunset whined.
"Weren't you a unicorn? You used to be able to hold things with your magic and walk right? It's like that. Patting your belly and rubbing your head and all that." Dash said, churning her wrist.
"It's patting your head and rubbing your belly, Rainbow."
"Whatever." Dash dismissed. "Look, the point is, we all know you can do this. It's as simple as one, two, three. We'll practice and then in no time, you'll be in tip top shape."
"Says the girl who forgot her solo for Awesome As I Wanna Be during the senior talent show," Sunset teased, sticking her tongue out as she picked up her guitar.
"I-I didn't forget! My hand just cramped up! I was playing video games the night before and I got carpool tunnel!" Rainbow insisted.
"It's carpal tunnel, and sure you did," Sunset told her smugly. She draped the guitar strap over her shoulder. "Alright. Let's take it from the top."
Two hours of practicing (and a few snack runs) later, both girls found themselves lying on the rugged floor of Rainbow's garage, staring up at the late afternoon clouds, a bottle of cola in their hands.
"I still think you're crazy for wanting me to sing, " Sunset told Rainbow, turning to look at her.
Rainbow drummed her fingers over her stomach. "And I still say you should. It's your song, dude. Plus you've got the most mature voice out of all of us. You look and sound like you're twenty or something."
"Look?" Sunset repeated, puzzled.
"You know," Rainbow made the hourglass shape with her hands. "You've got a nice body. Plus your voice is really hot. Twilight's got the whole cute nerd thing going on, but you've got this mysterious bombshell bad girl thing going on for you and it's really sexy," A slight blush rose to Rainbow's cheeks as she continued.
Sunset raised a brow. "My, my Rainbow Dash if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were hitting on me. I didn't know you were into older girls," She winked playfully.
Rainbow scratched behind her ear, embarrassed. " I'm not. I just notice what's attractive in you guys, you know? Like Fluttershy is shy and cute, Rarity has this assertiveness to her that makes you want to worship the ground she walks on, Applejack has her muscles, and trust me, you have not lived until you have seen her in a tank top on a hot summer day," She gushed, counting off their friends on her fingers. "Pinkie's got a cute butt, and I already explained for Twilight and you, so yeah."
"What about you?" Sunset asked.
"What about me?" Dash repeated.
"What do you think people notice in you that could be deemed attractive?" Sunset clarified, sitting up.
Dash tapped her chin. "Well, I wouldn't really know because I'm not looking at myself from an outside perspective." She shrugged.
"You're the most confident out of all of us. Surely you can think of something," Sunset assured her.
Dash shrugged again. "I'm confident, not narcissistic. I don't pay attention to myself all that much."
Sunset put a hand to her chin. "Hmm...well if I've got the whole bad girl thing going on, then you've definitely got the whole jock thing going on," She said, giving Rainbow a once over. "I don't exactly know how people can find that attractive though,"
"Eh, I think attractiveness only matters for the lead singer." Rainbow said, cracking her knuckles. "But between me and you, I'd definitely hit that." She told Sunset, pointing to her with a cheeky grin.
The older girl snorted, picking up her gutiar again. "In your dreams, Dash." She nudged the girl playfully. "But thanks for the compliment. It really boosted my ego," She smiled, strumming out a few chords. "And you know what? Maybe I will sing for this song."
"Yes!" Rainbow cheered. "And don't worry, I'll be standing next to you the entire time!" She quickly promised excitedly. She pointed a thumb at herself. "I am the Element of Loyalty after all."
Sunset laughed as she turned on her amp. "I don't doubt you for a second."
Rainbow scrambled over to her guitar and quickly turned on her own amp. "How about we have a shred off before we go inside?" She proposed with a competitive smirk.
Sunset matched hers with her own. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

A Week In The Life of Sunset Shimmer
One With Nature
"Thank you so much for coming to help me walk the dogs," Fluttershy said to Sunset as they strolled through Canterlot Park, both with dog leashes in each hand.
Sunset laughed. "No problem, 'Shy. I had nothing to do this afternoon and since I had the song writing session with Rainbow yesterday, I thought getting some sun for one day wouldn't hurt."
Sunset had met up with Fluttershy at the Canterlot Animal Shelter earlier that morning, after stopping by Sugarcube Corner to bring the girl some coffee and donuts.
They talked about their senior year and college plans over breakfast, and at eleven, they got the dogs ready for their afternoon playdate at the park.
Sunset took on the bigger dogs since she were a lot stronger than Fluttershy. A Golden Retriever named Blondie, a Bulldog named Butch, and a Grey Hound named Kermit.
Fluttershy got the small lap dogs; Glitter, Buttercup, and Happy, (who were sibling yorkies) and Floyd, a dash hound.
It was a nice day in Canterlot, the summer sun had eased up a bit, letting a cool summer breeze blow through the park. Definitely a cooler day than the day before.
Sunset reached into her shorts for her phone. "It's almost twelve thirty. You wanna sit down somewhere to take a break?" They had been walking for a while, letting the dogs do their business and play with the other dogs at the park. Today seemed to be a day everyone decided to bring their dogs because everywhere they looked someone had their pup with them. Sunset guessed the heat was tiring for dogs too.
"Sure," said Fluttershy, who was pulling out a picnic blanket from her messenger bag. Sunset held onto the other dogs while she laid down the blanket.
"There," Fluttershy said smiling down at her work. She had used their bags as anchors so that the blanket wouldn't blow away. She sat down. "Sunset, could you get them some water? They must be really thirsty after all that walking we did."
Sunset nodded. "Sure. Are you sure you can watch them?" She asked in concerned tone, watching Fluttershy struggle with the leashes.
"No, no I'm fine. Just get a couple of bottles out the vending machine please," Fluttershy responded, her voice strained.
Sunset shrugged. "Okay." She wasn't exactly sure if Fluttershy was truly fine on her own, but she believed in her.
A few minutes later she came back with the water to find Fluttershy covered in dirt and panting. She arched a brow as she sat down. "Uh, what happened to you?" She handed her one of the many bottles in her hands.
"Blondie and Kermit wanted to play tag." The meek girl explained. "I got taken along for the ride," she sighed, putting the bottle to her forehead. She hummed in relief when she felt the cool water touch her skin.
Sunset giggled. "If I wasn't here how would you have taken on all these dogs by yourself?" She asked.
"Oh, I wouldn't be by myself. Flash stops by sometimes to help. Especially during the summer. He hasn't come around as of late because of his summer school schedule, but he usually walks with me," Fluttershy saw the look on the older girl's face. "Oh! I'm sorry! I forgot you two broke up!"
Sunset let out a humorless laugh. "It's...Alright, 'Shy. We're friends. We worked everything out. And I mean I realized after a while I did kinda have real feelings for him, but I saw how much he was into Twilight. I didn't wanna get in the way of their...thing."
"Oh, Sunny...I'm so sorry..." Fluttershy put a hand on her shoulder. "I don't exactly know how you feel right now, but I want to let you know that I'm here for you," She told her, hugging her.
Sunset breathed in her scent. Fluttershy smelled like the flowers in the flower beds around them, and thegrass beneath their feet. She smelled like a warm summer afternoon just like this one, and she realized that there was no one else she would rather be sitting under a giant oak tree on a old picnic blanket with.
When Fluttershy let go of her, Sunset started the conversation up again. "Since Flash is busy and all, do you mind if I come over to the shelter every Tuesday to walk the dogs with you?"
Fluttershy's eyes lit up. "Really?! You'd do that?! Oh you've been such a big help already! I couldn't possibly ask you to-"
Sunset put a finger on Fluttershy's lips to shush her. "Relax. I'm offering. Besides, you and the girls have shown me nothing but kindess and it's time I show some in return."
A stomach grumbled and Sunset looked over at Fluttershy, who was blushing.
"Um...speaking of kindness...Could you...Kindly buy me some lunch at Sugarcube Corner? I kinda forgot my wallet at the shelter," She admitted sheepishly.
Sunset let out another laugh, genuine this time. She smiled brightly as she linked arms with the younger girl. "Sure, 'Shy. Sure."

A Week In The Life of Sunset Shimmer
Wednesday was a dark and stormy day, something Sunset had not been anticipating. She had promised Pinkie she would help her bake cupcakes for the Cake twins' birthday, and she wasn't about to break a Pinkie Promise.
When she stepped into Sugarcube Corner it was a little after twelve. It must have been a slow day because the front was empty except for Mr. Cake sitting at a booth reading a newspaper.
Sunset took her soaked hoodie off and hung it up before donning an apron and joining Pinkie in the kitchen.
"Wow! It's raining cats and dogs out there!" Pinkie commented, getting all their supplies out of the industrial refrigerator.
Sunset laughed. "Tell me about it! I couldn't even use my phone to tell you I was on the way because it would have gotten pelted by rain!"
Pinkie giggled. "Well, I'm glad you're here Sunny! I need all the help I can get! Pumpkin and Pound's birthday is tomorrow and there's gonna be at least thirty little kindergarteners running around!"
Sunset dumped some flour into a bowl. "Sounds fun," she responded with a smile. "I know how much you love entertaining the little ones so it should be a breeze for you!"
Pinkie nodded eagerly. "Yep! It's almost like my name is Pinkamena Responsibility Pie!" she said proudly, pointing to herself.
Sunset gave her a humored smile. "I thought it was Diane?" she asked, adding sugar, vanilla extract, and two eggs to the bowl of flour.
Pinkie waved her hand dismissively with a giggle snort. "Eh, same thing!"
The time passed quickly with them laughing and joking and talking of times with their friends from the previous school year.
"Remember when Rainbow put that whoopie cushion in Rarity's chair right after she got her seat switched in Ms. Cheerilee's class next to Trender?" Pinkie said, pouring the cake mix into the greased pans on the counter.
Sunset snickered from the sink as she washed their dishes. "Holy crap, how could I not? She wouldn't shut up about it for a month! The whole entire class heard the sound! Trender couldn't even look at her after that! I felt so bad for her but it was so funny!" She wouldn't be honest with herself if she said she didn't wish she had've thought of it first. Rarity had had a huge crush on Trender and wouldn't shut up about it. The girls decided that they were tired of hearing about him, and Rainbow decided to do something about it.
"Oh! What about the time Twilight had come through the portal on Halloween and you and Rainbow scared her with those horse masks?" The red and gold haired girl said, already feeling another fit of laughter bubbling inside her.
"Haha! She thought she had came to the wrong world! She was so scared! I kinda feel bad but it was such a good prank!" Pinkie giggled, slipping the pans into the oven.
Sunset dried her hands after she had finished washing the bowls and measuring cups, leaving them on a towel on the counter to dry. "So? What do you wanna do while we wait for them to finish baking?" She asked.
"Well, we could get the frosting out and let it soften so that when the cupcakes are ready we can just put it on them bad boys!" Pinkie suggested excitedly.
Sunset smiled. "Cool. Sounds like a plan." She reached into the fridge for the big tub of frosting and put it on the counter.
As she did, an idea brewed in her mind. Pinkie had her back turned to her, which meant it was a perfect opportunity for her to sneak up on her and hit her with some frosting. Dipping a finger into the tub, Sunset tip toed behind Pinkie and said, "Hey Pinkie!"
When the younger girl turned around, Sunset smeared vanilla frosting all over the side ofher face, catching her off guard just like she had planned to.
"Nice one, Sunny!" Pinkie giggled, licking the icing off her face. "But it's gonna take more than that to pull one over on me!" She reached into the tub herself and threw some frosting at Sunset. The glob hit her in the middle of her forehead and Pinkie busted out laughing.
Sunset grinned. "Oh yeah? Two can play that game!" She threw some back at her, but Pinkie dodged it easily, letting it smack against the kitchen counter.
She stuck her tongue out. "Missed me! Missed me! Now you gotta kiss me!" she taunted, smearing some frosting over her pink lips.
Sunset took that as a challenge. She tackled Pinkie, sending the both of them to the floor in a fit of laughter.
As their laughter died down, they soon realized the predicament that they were both in. Sunset was very much on top of Pinkie and their faces were very much close to each other.
Without thinking about it, Sunset effectively closed the space between them, pressing her lips to Pinkie's and began licking all the icing off of them. When she finished, she leaned back to see the slight blush on the younger girl's face.
Licking her lips, she grinned. "Well, you did say I had to kiss you."
