//-------------------------------------------------------// One Princess to Rule Them All -by Rubbaduckwolf- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Conversation to Blame //-------------------------------------------------------// The Conversation to Blame Celestia and Luna were eating dinner. Of course, it was a fancy dinner, with them being princesses and all. Even the very room sparkled with gold and silver decorations of the finest detail. Tantalizing smells rose from the lightly toasted hay. The conversation, however, went something like this. "Tia, I don't know why I can't control the sun too. I raise the stars, and the sun is a star." "We've discussed this already, sister. If you controlled the sun, what would I do?" "You mean you would sit around in the castle even more?" "No! What in Equestria makes you think that I sit around all day doing nothing?" "I don't think it, I see it." The squabble went on from there. It involved lots of cussing, shoving, throwing forks, and other un-royal behavior. Luckily, no Canterlot guards were around to watch. Finally, the sisters came to an agreement. "Okay, Lulu, we will have a competition. " "What kind?" "Same one as last time." "You mean all the Nightmare Moon stuff? Not gonna happen." "Okay, then, we choose somepony to fight for us." "Lazylestia is on the case, huh?" "Luna! It's more fair this way if we choose a normal citizen to fight in our place, and much safer." "Fine. Be that way." The fate of Equestria was sealed. Each alicorn princess had three days to choose a champion, and the news spread to those vying for a heroic life. Or, rather, those vying for publicity. Applejack rolled her eyes. Rainbow Dash was doing wing-ups for the fifth time that morning. "Dash, are ya just gonna buff up your wings to get one a' them princesses to chose ya?" "Oh, pshaw, everyone knows I'm the obvious choice. I got moves, you know!" she replied, not even breaking her pace. Fluttershy edged towards them. "Are you all right, Rainbow Dash? I can get some water if you need, or a towel, or maybe some dumbbells for your next set of training, or maybe all three. Do you need them?" Rainbow Dash grinned from her position on the ground. "I don't need anything but to be a princess' choice for champion." Rarity had joined the conversation. "Again with all the winning and the competition and the 'professionalism is my middle name' thing. Rainbow Dash, can't you be just the slightest bit logical? It decides who gets to control the sun!" "I will if you will," taunted the sky blue Pegasus. "There's no way I'm going to sit on the sidelines for this. One of the princesses is gonna choose me, I can feel it from my hooves to my mane." "I just don't know why Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are acting so irrational," said Twilight Sparkle, adding to the snowballing conversation. "It's not like them." Suddenly, Pinkie Pie popped out of nowhere, scaring the Cutie Marks off the others. "Oh, look, the gang's all here! I was just going to throw a sun-moon-controversy-crisis party! Won't that be fun?" Again, Applejack rolled her eyes, adding in a bonus facehoof at the end. "This is gonna be one hay of a wild ride, sugarcubes."
