A soon to be mother with foals coming on the way, is abandoned by her clan; for they saw no further use in her after her mate had died. Surviving in the harsh cold of Freywall (early Equestria) was one problem, but now the mother must deal with teaching her foals how to survive. But her troubles have only just begun there.

After being attacked by a wolf, the young mother and her children are adopted into a small group. A traveling pair with their offspring. But her differences from her saviors may prove to be a source of continual conflict.
