Author's Note
Hey guys, it's me, MelchiorFlyer! Let me tell you that this story takes place after the first Equestria Girls, which explains why Twilight is an alicorn but still lives in Golden Oaks Library. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! :D
This is my first fic, so it does kiiinda suck. I will get better at writing, I just need time to develop my "skills"
Watch Where You Step
The lavender alicorn ran around the Golden Oaks Library, locking all the doors, and windows. She looked around wildly. Her ears were pinned down and her eyes wide with paranoia. "Spike?" she called out. There was no answer. She ran up the stairs to her bedroom. "SPIKE!" she shouted again. She looked around wildly for her number one assistant, in hopes that he wasn't in any danger. Fortunatley, she got an answer, and she breathed a deep sigh of relief.
"Twilight! I'm down here!" Twilight Sparkle searched for the sound of his voice.
"Spike? Where are you?" she shouted once more, less frantic this time. The Princess of Friendship jumped when she heard a sharp pang against the window behind her. She peeked out between the tightly closed blinds. "Spike!" she gasped,"What in Luna's name are you doing out there?" Her horn glowed with a pinkish aura. She focused hard on Spike. There was a loud poof, and a little purple and green dragon appeared in the room with Twilight. "There." she sighed, "Didn't I tell you to stay inside?"
"Yes, not quite sure why, but you also told me to go find the others," the baby dragon said. Twilight opened her mouth to reply, but a loud knock on her front door interrupted her. Twilight screamed, and jumped up so high so clung to the rafters. "Geez, Twilight. Calm down," Spike reassured her. "Why are you acting so jumpy? You've been like this ever since we got back from the human world!"
"What? Jumpy? I-I'm not jumpy!" Twilight responded defensively. Spike rolled his eyes and walked over to unlock the front door. Twilight's eyes widened in fear, and her horn glowed with magic.
"Woah, hey!" Spike exclaimed, as he was suddenly ripped from the ground. He shot up to meet Twilight's gaze. "Don't. Unlock. That. Door," Twilight said. Her eyez darted around nervously. She brought Spike closer to her face, and she whispered violently, "They're EVERYWHERE!"
Spike struggled free of Twilight's magical grip and he fell to the floor. "Knock it off Twilight! You're freaking me out!" he said, picking himself up and dusting off his arms and legs. He proceeded to unlock the door, against Twilight's vauge warning. Five ponies rushed in. Twilight gasped, clutching the rafters closer to her body.
"Twilight!" They said collectively. With another sigh of relief, Twilight fell to the ground. She picked herself up of the ground and flew down the stairs to meet her friends.
"Girls. Thank goodness it's you!" The young Princess said, glancing around nervously. "Come in, come in." She motioned with her hoof towards the inside of the library. The five friends exchanged looks of confusion.
"Uh, Twilight," Rainbow Dash said, "we're already inside," There was a long pause as the six ponies stared at eachother. Twilight glanced at them blankly.
"Oh," she said simply. She then ran behind them and relocked the door, shooting a glare at Spike. He shrugfed defensively. Twilight turned back towards the group. "L-let's go into the kitchen, then we can talk," she said with a nervous smile.
"So, what exactly is going on here?" Rainbow asked. Applejack gave Twilight a look of concern. The alicorn had neglected to talk to any of them since she returned from the human world. She had seemed awfully paranoid and nervous lately.
"Yeah, Twilight. You're more nervous than a prisoner on de-," Twilight slapped her hoof acrossed the Earth pony's mouth and looked around wildly. "Shhh! They're listening!" the lavendar unicorn hissed. Rarity raised an eyebrow.
"Erm...who is listening?" stated a very confused Rarity. Fluttershy nodded, her brow laced with concern. Twilight stared at the two ponies like they had become conjoined twins.
"They are listening!" The new Princess repeated. Rainbow smacked a hoof onto her face in frustration.
"Twilight, we don't know who they are!" Rainbow said, hovering in mid air with her arms folded across her chest. Twilight shifted her nervous gaze towards the blue pegasus. She sighed and sat down, slowly removing her hoof from Applejack's mouth. Applejack frowned, shaking her head, and rubbing her jaw in the spot that Twilight had smacked so violently. The alicorn took a deep breath, and began to explain what was going on.
"When I went to the human world this last time, I discovered this thing called "The Internet". The humans use it to keep in touch with one another and to conduct research," Rarity raised her hoof, politely interrupting Twilight Sparkle.
"Why don't they just send letters or visit each other like we do?" She asked in confusion. It seemed so obvious to Pinkie Pie why the Internet was clearly the superior race.
As such, the pink party pony jumped in, resting her hoof on Rarity's head, "Well, DUH! The Internet is OBVIOUSLY much faster than the mail! Plus, they're probably to lazy to get out of bed every morning to walk to visit their friends!" She ruffled Rarity's mane. The white unicorn gasped and frantically fixed her perfectly curled, violet locks. Twilight looked at the two with a straight face, then continued:
"Pinkie's right. Anyways, I did my own research using the Internet and I learned a few things. For one, do NOT visit sites that end in XXX," Twilight shivered violently, turning green at the horrific images that flooded back to her, "Trust me, you will be appalled beyond belief at the things these people do," She shook her head, clearing her mind of the pictures plaguing her conscience. "I also learned that the humans know who we are and what we do. They know where we live, what we ate for lunch last week, what we say. Every hour, of every day!" The girls exchanged alarming looks, gasping in shock at the horrible realization.
"Like super, secret spies?" Rainbow asked, her forehooves grasping her horrified face.
Rarity blushed violently, 'S-so you mean...,"
"They're watching us right now?" Fluttershy finished.
Twilight nodded, "There is probably someone writing down exactly what we are saying as we say it!" The girls screamed in terror. Fluttershy jumped into Rainbow Dash's hooves, shaking like a leaf in the wind. Dash looked down at her, raising an eyebrow. The yellow Pegasus smiled shyly, a blush creeping across her face as she slowly climbed down. Pinkie Pie was the only one who didn't react so strongly to the news.
"You JUST figured that out? I've known for 3 years now!" she turned to face a wall adorned with variou, (totally unrelated) photos of Twilight and Spike, smiled, and waved, "HI AUDIENCE!" She shouted.
Her friends stared at her with wide eyes. "You knew and you ever thought about telling us?" Twilight said, glancing around again.
Pinkie Pie nodded matter-of-factly, "Of course! I didn't want to tell you because I knew you'd get all freaked out!" She got up, jumped around the girls, "And I was riiiiight!" she said with a sing-song tone, complete with a bought of laughter.
Rainbow Dash folded her wings, falling into a conveniently placed chair, and held her hoof to her forehead. "Man, this is too much to take in,"
"How in tarnation do they do it?" Applejack said.
Fluttershy's eyes filled with terror, "They must have cameras placed all over the place!" She said as she dropped under the table, covering her head with her hooves in terror.
Rarity patted Fluttershy's back reassuringly, "It's okay darling! Everything will be okay," she said, turning to Twilight, "Twilight will figure out a way to stop this, right Twilight?" She smiled nervously at the lavender alicorn. Her eyes pleaded for an answer.
Twilight sighed, "I don't know, what to do. Maybe we just need to...um...," she looked at her friends desperately for an answer. They shrugged, clearly knowing next to nothing about magic. "Um...I don't think there is anything we can do," After a breif look of disbelief, the girls turned and looked at Pinkie Pie for an answer.
"Oh! You want my help! Okay! Um, weeeell, all you have to do is act completely normal! The humans love us for the way we are, and they are harmless! For the most part....SO, just pretend like they aren't there and act normal!" she said with a smile.
"I don't think I could ever act normal again! I'm to scared to even sleep!" Fluttershy said, and she started bawling. The simplistic news had really taken a toll on her.
Applejack looked to Twilight, "I don't feel comfortable neither, knowin' people can see everything I ever do!" The girls were scared, even more so now that Twilight had no solution. Twilight thought hard about what she could do.
Her friends talked around her, their voices shaking in nervous paranoia. "I have an idea," Twilight said tentatively, "but I'm not sure you'll like it,"
Rainbow Dash grabbed Twilight's shoulders and shook them desperatly, "I'll take ANYTHING right now!" Twilight took a deep breath, and looked at her friends with sympathetic eyes.
"I'll erase the memory of this conversation from all our minds, and then it will never had happened,"
Her friends exchanged worried glances. She hung her head, avoiding the looks her friends were giving. "I'm so sorry I told you all about this. I wish I never would have found out about it myself. I haven't been the same knowing that someone out there is constantly observing me, judging my actions, and documenting every aspect of my life,"
Applejack put her hoof around Twilight's shoulders and giving her an awkward, one-arm hug. "I'm sorry, sugar cube. I realize how hard it is for ya. Trust me, it's hard for all of us. I will let you erase this darn conversation if it means I can live in peace like I used to," the orange Earth pony said,a small smile on her face.
Rarity sighed, then smiled sympathetically at Twilight as well. "Okay, I'll do it," Fluttershy rose up from underneath the table and nodded quietly, hugging Rarity.
Rainbow Dash responded hesitantly, "Alright, let's do it!"
Pinkie Pie, on the other hoof, was reluctant.
"No! But then I'll forget all the cool friends I made! I DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU GUYS!" she said, hugging the fourth wall ferociously. Twilight pulled her off the wall with her magic, and stared directly into Pinkie's eyes.
"Pinkie Pie, I'll erase this conversation from your mind. You've known about the humans way before any of us had. It won't affect you at all, with luck," Twilight said. "Just promise you won't tell us?"
Pinkie stared at Twilight for a moment, then broke into a huge smile. "Oh! Okay! But wait, if I promise you know, and you erase my memory, than I'll forget the promise! And if I forget, then I might accidentally tell you! Then everyp-" Twilight zipped the pink pony's lips. Quite literally. She then released Pinkie from her magical grip, and stood up slowly. Pinkie struggled, and released herself from the zipper.
"Okay everypony, gather around me," Twilight said nervously. As her friends formed a tight group around her, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and focused on her friends. Her horn glowed pink. The glow grew bigger and bigger as she focused. Her eyes flew open, harmless white light spewed out of them like a nightlight. An intense bright pink light enveloped the Main Six. There was a loud boom and-
The End.
