Twilight shot awake in the golden oak. The dream left her shuddering. She wondered if the dream meant anything. She looked out the window, it was midday in ponyville, ponies bustling to the market, buying their groceries, going along with life. Twilight realized that she had an incredibly Important meeting with Celestia in just fifteen minutes.
She pushed the dream to the side of her head and got everything ready. She organized books, dusted the shelves, prepared an empty table with a small vase, and took two small teacups. She boiled some tea while also organizing elsewhere with her magic. She heard a knock on her door, she ran to it and opened it.
“Celesti-huh?” Said Twilight, “um, hello there, who might you be?”
A male pony in a suit was standing there, staring contentedly at Twilight. “Good morning ma’am. My name is Quill And Ink, but just Quill is fine.”
He spoke in a light accent, with a voice that was pleasing to Twilight’s ear. His coat was white with small splotches of light grey. He had maroon eyes that stood out from his coat.
“Uh, yes… Quill, by Quill and Ink, do you mean the explorer and archaeologist? The stallion who recovered the lapis pony sculpture from the Paleopony Era!? Cause if you are, then come on in, I'm expecting a conference with Celestia.” There was a whistle from the kitchen. “Oh, there goes the tea,” she said.
Twilight grabbed another glass and brought it to the table. She poured the tea while Quill was looking at the various collections of books. “Is all this yours?” he asked.
“Well I kind of live here so yeah, all these books are of my collection, of course I had more back in my Canterlot suite-”
“You lived in Canterlot?” He inquired. “I used to live there as a filly, back before I started my career in adventure. Turns out I ran away from home because I never got the attention I wanted.”
“You know, I think you would like to meet my friend Rainbow Dash, She’s a lot like you.”
Just then, a knock sounded at her door. She raced towards the door and opened it. There stood a Regal Celestia with her royal guards.
Her gentle eyes flashed like amethysts in the sunlight. She had a warm smile on her face, as if welcoming all creatures to equestria. Her white coat gleamed in the sunlight.
“Hello Twilight, I see you’ve already met Quill, I say you two will get to know each other better soon.”
“SPIIIKE!” Twilight called, “WHERE ARE YOU SPIKE!”
Twilight was tramping through a dark forest with nothing but the light of her own horn. She could barely see her hoof in front of her face. She was at risk by using magic. The presence of her aurora would attract the creatures of the Woods. Where am I? This was never in any of my books? How did I get here?
Thoughts were buzzing in her head. She wondered if she’d ever see her friends again. Would she ever be at another one of Pinkie’s parties? Would she ever watch Rainbow Dash become a wonderbolt? How about Rarity and Applejack? Would they ever get along? Would Fluttershy ever learn to be brave?
She kept moving at a pace between a trot and a gallop. She knew anything was possible, but she hoped the worst hadn’t happened. At last she came upon a clearing. The sky was dark and looked reddish, like a tinge of blood. The trees around her were shriveled and their roots poking out of the ground. They almost looked as if the faces of terrified ponies were merged into them. The soil was almost maroon in the light, the ground was marked with a symbol, a pentagram. It seemed as if the air air around her smelled of death.
A loud crash sounded behind her. She turned around to see what was there. A large scarlet creature appeared. With hideous serrated talons, it tried to swipe at Twilight. She deflected the swipe with a magic blast. She tried to drive it backwards with telekinesis, but it held its ground. She tried to fly above it, but she had injured her wing while falling into the woods from the rift.
The rift, she remembered. she was in the basement of the golden oak when she muttered an ancient incantation. She tried it to see the effects, but it took her to this place. Now Spike is missing and I don’t know if I’ll ever see Ponyville again. The beast struck her and she flew into the trees, unconscious.
She woke with a jolt, still in the forest. She saw a distant glowing in the clearing. That wasn’t there before. she thought to herself, what could it be? She trotted towards it. “AAAHHHHHH!” She screamed. Before her were the gored up remains of Spike the dragon.
