World Of Ponycraft (Legacy of the Rainbow)
Prologue
I sit in the library wing of one of Dalaran’s many towers trying to focus on studying about the ways of fire magic… Which is really difficult since…
“Gwen!” My best friend Rainbow Dash yells, just ignore her, anyways. “Gwen, Gwen, Gwen!” She persists as I try to focus on my studies, again sorry, as I was saying. “GWEEEEEN!”
“What do you want!” I yell at her while slamming my book on the table.
“I’m bored!” She moans while laying on the ground drawing circles on the floor with her hoof.
“So?” I ask with a cocked eyebrow.
“So I want to do something fun!” She states standing up on all fours and starting to run back and forth.
“You know you don’t have to stay here right?” I ask eyeing the younger pegasus.
“Yeah but I want to do something fun with you!” She says with hopeful eyes.
“I have studies to do though. It’s easy enough for you to just go outside, learning about wind and weather magic.” I ridicule her.
“So is that a yes?” She asks.
“No!” I yell picking up my book again. Now let’s get back to….
“Come on let’s go outside.” Rainbow groans while falling onto her back. She begins to start running her legs through thin air. “Walk, walk, walk.” She drones on.
“No, no, and again no!” I yell back trying to focus on my work.
“Walk.” She yells from the top of the spiral staircase in the room. “Walk.” She yells again from the door to the room. “Walk!” She yells from on top of a bookshelf. “Walk!” She yells appearing right in front of me. She scares me so much that I fall backwards off the chair and onto the ground. I roll onto my front and my hair falls in front of my face, I blow the hair out of my face partially. I inhale deeply trying to contain my anger.
“Fine, after I finish this chapter, Rainbow.” I state standing back up and taking a seat again.
“Awesome!” Rainbow replies while sitting down on her hind legs.
“Thank you.” I say, sighing in relief. So a fireball spell takes…
“Are you done yet?” She asks.
“No.” I reply. Now back to…
“How about now?” She asks again.
“No!” I reply louder this time. I stay looking at her for a while to see if she says anything. I go back to the back and right on que.
“Now?” She asks. I shut the book and sigh.
“Fine, we’ll go outside.” I reply with a deep sigh.
“Yay!” Rainbow yells and dashes to the door in a flash. “Do you want to race when we’re out there, huh huh huh!” She adds running back over to me.
“Titans no, I remember what happened the last time.” I reply.
“Hey I had no idea where that tree branch came from.” She says with her best puppy dog eyes.
“Sure you don’t, now get moving.” I reply ushering her towards the door. I know it’s weird, me a pony and her a pegasus being best friends, but somehow we just click as friends. Again weird because of the scene just before, but she’s fun to be around and honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way. She was there when I was little a few years after I got orphaned here. So I guess that kind of makes her like a little sister to me. We make our way through the hallways and I hear screaming from down the corridor. Without a second thought I run down the corridor.
“What is it?” Rainbow yells after me.
“Someone’s in trouble!” I yell back to her.
“Oh, I’ll wait for you outside then!” Rainbow calls back after me. That’s one of her bad traits, she’s kind of a bitch sometimes.
World Of Ponycraft (Legacy of the Rainbow)
Chapter 1
And so it Begins
I run as fast as my hooves will carry me through the hallways towards the sound of the screaming and now coughing. I reach the scene of the crime to find a burning library. Irony, am I right? I lean into the room, to find another pony in the corner of the room trying to back away from the flames. “HOLD ON!” I yell into the room as I cast a fire shield to protect myself from the flames. I step into the room and inch my way through the flames so as to not overtax the shield. I reach the blonde haired pony, she looks to still be breathing but she’s been rendered unconscious due to the smoke, and not half bad of a looker… focus Gwen I have to get her out of here. I stand on my hind legs and scoop her up into my arms. The shield begins to fail so I decide to throw caution to the wind and run for the exit. I make a jump for the door as the room collapses behind me as well as my shield. “Well that was close.” I joke as I turn to the pony in my arms. “Right your unconscious.” I add while trying to lay her against the wall beside the library. Thing about me is that I’m not just a fire pony, I’ve also studied light magic, the first ever to master both… If I can actually get one of my spells to work properly, heh. Hey guess what, field test day! Alright Gwen showtime… What was it that master Rivand always said… Stay calm, think happy thoughts and it will come to you. I think of the day I first saw the violet arch mage tower and try to cast the heal spell, nothing happens. Think happier, the day I started my training. Still nothing. Happier, I think of the first day I met Rainbow Dash. I feel a strange sensation emanating from horn, A ray of light appears from my horn and shines down on the blue pony. She slowly comes to, coughing violently.
“Hey, are you ok?” I ask putting a hoof on her shoulder.
“Wha-(cough) what happened?” She asks disoriented, she tries to stand up but falls back quickly.
“Woah there, you’ve just been through a great ordeal and your body is still in shock.” I reply trying to steady her.
“Mind my manners, but who are you?” She asks suddenly.
“Oh right introductions, well my name is Guinevere, but people just call me Gwen.” I reply a bit flushed.
“Nice to meet you, Guinevere my names Jaina.” She says with a shining smile.
“Nice to meet you Jaina.” I reply returning the smile. Our eyes meet suddenly and I am mesmerized by her blue eyes that shine like the sun, I start to realize how beautiful she is. “So Jaina…” I start before I hear yelling from down the hallway.
“JAINA!” The voice calls getting closer. Another pony rounds the corner, fumbling a bit across the floor. “Jaina, are you alright?” He yells engulfing her in his arms. Don’t worry it might be her brother, maybe, Hopefully.
“I’m fine, Arthas if it wasn’t for Gwen here, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here right now.” Jaina says and Arthas stands back up. He’s at least a head taller and has blonde hair like Jaina and has brown fur.
“I am in your debt!” He says and gives me a bear hug.
“It was really no problem, so you are…?” I ask, secretly hoping it wasn’t what I thought it was.
“Oh right, Gwen this is Arthas, my boyfriend.” She says, my heart drops like a bag of rocks at the last comment. Of course that’s what it is.
“GWEN!” I hear Rainbow Dash from down the hallway. She comes barrelling down the hallway wiping out the guards that were probably coming to put out the fire.
“About time too.” I say to her as she skids to a halt in front of me.
“I heard something about a fire, is there a fire here?” She asks. A piece of burning wood falls down in the room behind me.
“Oh no, no fire that’s just an illusion right there.” I reply mocking her.
“Oh, very funny, Gwen.” She replies.
“Just get in there and fix it.” I say trying to stay calm.
“Got it, everyone stand back.” Rainbow replies and puts her goggles on.
“What is she going to…” Arthas starts.
“Watch and learn.” I reply as Rainbow winds up and in a flash she flies into the room and in a few seconds the tower flame is put out.
“What just happened?” Arthas asks.
“I just sucked up all of the air in room, no oxygen then no fire.” Rainbow replies coming out of the library.
“So you use wind magic?” Arthas asks.
“Yep, bonus of that is increased flight capability and speed.” She states practically beaming.
“And hyperactivity 24/7.” I mutter under my breath. “Ahem, I hate to interrupt the peanut gallery but Jaina needs to get back to her room to rest.” I add gesturing towards Jaina.
“Right.” Arthas says. “No fear Arthas is here.” He adds as he scoops Jaina into his arms. An ego as well, I wonder how narcissistic he is?
“I can walk by myself you know.” Jaina states indignantly crossing her arms.
“Oh really?” He responds putting her down. “Prove it.” He adds with a knowing smile.
“I will.” Jaina replies, she tries to walk to walk a few steps and shakes slightly, she makes it a few more steps before she collapses, I quickly catch her before she falls flat on her chest.
“Woah there, I don’t think you're ready for that just yet.” I say with a laugh while I haul her back to her feet and I hand her back to Arthas.
“Fine, but don’t think this gets you brownie points, Menethil.” Jaina says eyeing Arthas suspiciously.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, lady Proudmoore.” Arthas replies with a smile. We make our way through the hallways in relative quietness apart from Rainbow stating that Jaina’s wounds can’t be that bad, and why we were staying around In which I reply that Jaina is my patient in this circumstance and I must attend to her health.
“So?” Rainbow starts. Uh-oh I don’t like that tone. “What are your intentions with my friend?” She asks getting in Jaina’s face.
“What do you mean?” She asks.
“Oh I think you know, are you planning on stealing her from me?” Rainbow states.
“Umm, no?” She says confused with what’s going on and looks to me for an answer.
“Alright, Rainbow back off, I’m not going anywhere.” I answer for Jaina as I pull Rainbow away.
“Promise.” Rainbow asks with her puppy dog eyes.
“Promise.” I reply. She cheers ecstatically and starts running up and down the hallway.
“She seems fun.” Arthas says with a laugh.
“She is, and she always knows how to make me laugh.” I reply with a wide smile. “Even if she is a bit insensitive sometimes.” I add with a laugh.
“I am not insensitive.” She states and starts pouting.
“Oh come on, that doesn’t make you any less of a person in my eyes.” I say and pull her into a hug. Rainbow stops pouting then and we continue towards Jainas quarters. “So back there you called Arthas ‘Menethil’ didn’t you?” I ask.
“Oh right, umm… Arthas is kind of the crowned prince of Lordaeron.” Jaina replies.
“Cool!” Rainbow yells. “I’ve always wanted to meet nobility, is it true that you have five course meals every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner?” She asks.
“What did I tell you about listening to Rivands crazy rumors?” I ask her.
“Hey, that one about the banshee in the outhouses could’ve been true.” She states indignantly.
“In all of them? there would be no way for it to travel between them quickly enough, and really the banshees one is the one you thought was true?” I ask her in disbelief.
“Yep.” Rainbow states with glee. I sigh at her comment.
“So this doesn’t bother either of you?” Arthas asks.
“Not at all, you're a prince, so what, do you want us to bow?” I ask him.
“Light no, I hate that regal stuff anyways.” He replies.
“Then there’s nothing to worry about.” I state with a smile.
“Well here we are.” Jaina states pointing towards our target. I open the door and Arthas steps inside. I step inside and stand in awe of her luxurious quarters, she must be nobility, some of this furniture looks way too good to be available to just anyone.
“Nice place.” Rainbow states as she rushes inside.
“Being a noble has it’s privileges… and it’s drawbacks.” Jaina adds sadly. Arthas lays her down on her bed. “Why don’t we do this again? Not the burning library part, I think we can do without another near death experience.” Jaina states with a laugh.
“Yeah, just hanging out just the four of us.” I reply happily.
“I don’t mind, it would be an honor, Gwen.” Arthas states with a smile.
“But now we need to let you get some rest, in a few days you’ll be back up and running, but until then just rest.” I say.
“Yes, ma’am.” Jaina replies with a mock salute. We make our way toward the door and we turn around as soon as we step outside.
“Goodnight, Jaina.” I state.
“Goodnight, love.” Arthas says.
“Goodnight.” Rainbow says simply.
“Goodnight, all of you.” Jaina replies as she settles in to sleep. I slowly close the door.
“I must make my leave as well, princely duties, but I will see you later.” Arthas states with a big smile on his face.
“See you later, Arthas.” I reply returning the smile.
“Thank you again.” Arthas says before taking his leave. Me and Rainbow make our way back towards our quarters which we share, seperate bedrooms of course.
“You're into that Arthas guy aren’t you?” Rainbow asks.
“Titans no, not him anyways.” I reply.
“That Jaina girl?!?” She asks slightly shocked. I just blush in response. “You are!” She screams unable to contain her excitement.
“Fine, yes I like her.” I reply with a slight smile on her face.
“Wait doesn’t that make you a lesbian?” She asks.
“Yep.” I reply simply.
“Does that might mean you're going to come onto me soon?” She asks slightly scared.
“Ew no, that would be like doing it with my sister.” I state slightly disgusted by the thought.
“Phew, just checking.” She replies regaining her composure.
“You’re the worst sometimes.” I state.
“But you still love me right?” She asks using her puppy dog eyes again.
“Yeah I do.” I say with a laugh. I could never stay angry with her for long. This sure is going to be an interesting year, two new friends and probably a treasure trove of adventures to be had… And I’m raring to get going
