Prologue: Times Have Changed
The year, XXXX, and as I lay in my cot... I can't help but feel like I have failed. My grandson has shown cruelty to all the younger fillies in his class, and his teacher receives cruel and spiteful remarks for no reason. This is a world of piece and harmony... Why has my grandson grown so? Why has the foul disharmony tainted my heir? We taught him well, and he belittles everyone, even me, and I gave our family it's rank and honor...
I have even heard him murmuring foul things, about uprising against the Princesses, and start a proper rule... Darkness... Why have you decided to taint the family name? We gave you everyone you asked...
But he's not the only one murmuring of change... Some of my companions have begun the talk of heresy: Mares should not have rights.
What hogwash is that? We have always had our rights. We are even the dominant gender! This is madness! We should never be degraded or treated unequally!
Oh, someone's at my door... Probably poor Lily again... She might want to cry on after Blueblood beat her again... Oh that girl. I told her he's not the stallion for her, but she feel head over hoof for him like a filly for sweets....
My Only awaits....
~Sweet Pepper
The bottom of the scroll is stained with dried blood... 'Poor great grandma...'
Many Years Prior:
The fragile old mare got off her small cot, leaving the warm embrace of her shawl and blanket, trying hard to stand steady. Her legs weren't working as well as they did when she was a young filly. But as long as she had a daughter to care for, she would never give up.
She opened the door widely for the young one behind the door, finding only Blueblood there to greet her, "Hello mother." He said calmly.
"What are you doing here?" The old made asked, scorn and malice in underlying her every word, "Come to threaten me again, you trash?"
"No." He replied, ice warmer than his tone, "We're finished here."
"Good, GO BACK FROM WHERE YA CAME YA FILTH-" blood sprayed across the room, the mare crumpling to the floor like a brick, falling limp, a long cut across the back of her neck pouring with blood down her back, the walls forever stained.
The mare once known as Sweet Pepper, was no more. But what she received that fateful night, was mercy compaired to what Equestria received the following years.
