Training

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The next day, the General and I discussed a few things. "Well then lad, you're going to training." I was so excited at the time, I think I may have started to faint. About an hour later, we arrived at a island. The Generald said it was a unhabitated island so it didn't really have a name. Most of the men on the shore eyed me and scratched their head wondering what I was.

     *Dong Dong Dong*

"Ok men, it's 4 o'clock. Get ready for Training." There were two parts: First part was basic training, which let the Supervisor get and understanding of us. And then there was part two, which he chose what role we would play. Part 1 was brutal. Men crawled through the mud and under barbwires. When I began to crawl through, the guys up on top began shooting guns above our heads to imitate a battle. The noise nearly made me deaf. After the crawl-through, we had to run 3 miles. Most men passed out, and I had to stop every while and catch my breath. We finally stopped at 1 o'clock in the morning. "Alright men, I have decided your roles." I was ready. "James, Scott, John...you three will be with the machine guns." They cheered. "Bob, Evans, Jake, Bill, Robert, Gause, and Grace...you will be in the rifle corps." Everyone except Evans was happy. "Marcus, Adam, and Pony...you will be medics."

A medic. I didn't want to be a medic but I didn't complain. The Supervisor told us what we would be to balance out number of units in battle. I mean, really, you don't want 60 riflemen and 100 medics. Those who were in different groups separated to different parts of the island. A cargo truck came and picked us up. I woke up at about 9 o'clock in the morning and reported to the Training area. The trainer there told us to call him 'Laddy'. Medic training was more interesting than I thought. The training area was huge. There was a small beach along with actors to portray a real war event. A Training building, and a agility course.

First, we went to the training center. We did basic warm-ups at first. Me and the others did a 50-yard dash to calculate speed. Next, we would practice basic workout techniques to get our muscles working. Laddy had then gave us a new challenge. "Men, I have came up with a little game." Me and Adam exchanged looks. "I have set up mannequins with blood, guts, and all that in them." Marcus gave Laddy a disgusted look. "We will practice your medical needs there." Once we got there, we saw all the tools we would use. We had Radios, First-Aid kits, Needles, Bandages, and other stuff.

We practiced regular sew-ups. With my hoofs, I found it rather hard. However, I managed to pull through. Me, Adam and Marcus completed that part fast. We then practiced knowing the tools. We examind tools, learned the parts, and then took a test. Adam and Marcus scored a Hundred. I scored a Ninety-Five. After that we went to the ability course. We ran up to the mannequin in a run to see how fast we could get to a Injured soldier. We did more running moves and other techniques. But then, we would head to the beach. The military gave us a landing craft. There would be me, Marcus, Adam, and other actors in the boat. When we got out. The actors on the beach shot out blanks. Our men acted as if they got hit. The sound nearly deafend me. I ran up too a guy a practiced on him. 1 down. Marcus and Adam went up the beach and got three more guys. 3 down. We continued for about another hour.

At the end of the day, Laddy said he was pleased. Just then, a U-boat came to pick us up. I fell asleep as I saw the USS North Carolina approaching us.
