//-------------------------------------------------------// What happens in the Dark -by Sea_Swirl- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Night One //-------------------------------------------------------// Night One Flash cradled himself under the desk, a monitor in hoof as his wide, beat red, and terrified eyes stared at it. His eyes blurred every once in a while as he tried to hold back tears. “She’s at the door…” He whispered to himself as she rocked back and forth, keeping a close eye on the glowing screen in front of him. On the screen, the camera showed a yellow mare with a pink mane staring off to the side where Flash assumed the door is since the camera he was looking at was right outside his door. With the right door shut and locked tight, flash decided he was safe from her. At least for now. He quickly checked the camera recording the pirate cove and was expecting to see the rainbow haired Pegasus still standing by the ‘out of order sign’, besides she was there for about ten minutes. Only, she wasn’t any more. He eyes widened to their limit as he frantically check each camera, flinching when he saw the blue eyes of a pink pony staring into the camera, but he continued on. “Where are you…? Where are you…?” He repeated over and over again before coming into the hallway. He was just able to make out the rainbow blur that zoomed into the direction… of his… room- “OH MY GOSH, SHE IS COMING THIS WAY!!!” Flash quickly jumped up from under the table, barely missing from hitting his head on it as he ran towards the door. Just as he hit the button to the left door, he saw the blue coat and there were two loud bangs... (-.(-.(-.-).-).-) Flash looked around as he quietly shuffled through the papers. The fan on his desk blew his mane out of his face, making sure it didn’t interrupt his work. Flash wasn’t doing any paper work; rather he was doing a bit of research on the place. He looked through the files and cabinets and found some notes and newspapers and many other things. This was such a boring job so far. He had gotten a night watch job so he could get enough money to move out and go to college. Sadly, there were not many jobs that would allow him to work without experience. It just probably pure luck that Big Mac’s Pizza just had somebody fired, the job opened up and Flash was able to catch it before anybody else. Luckily, they were quick to hire him and tell him what he needed to do, though they made him sign a contract saying he would work there for at least a month before quitting. It was a strange request but he didn’t really think anything of it. He jumped, startled at the sound of the phone ringing. Who would call this late night? Was that a good sign? He was about to pick it up after the third ring but it seemed to have picked up itself. “Hello? Hello, hello?” Flash was going to answer, but he hesitated. This felt… off. The voice didn’t wait for an answer though and went on as if it didn’t need one. “Uhh… I wanted to record a message for you, to help you get settled in on your first night.” The voice sounded like it would belong to a geek, it sounded frail but male. Flash smiled. This shouldn’t be as hard as he thought, though he was still suspicious. The voice continued. “Umm… I actually worked in that office before you. I’m finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact!” Flash listened silently. “I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I can tell you, there’s nothing to worry about, er... You’ll be fine!” Flash paused at the sudden nervousness in his voice, though he wasn’t sure if it was even there, it was too brief. “So, let’s just focus on getting you through your first night. Okay, uhh… let’s see, first there is an introductory greeting from the company that I’m supposed to read it’s kind of a legal thing, umm… you know.” Flash kept his eyes glued to the phone. “Welcome to Big Mac’s Pizza, a magical place for foals and grownups alike where fantasy and fun come to life, Mac entertainment is not responsible for damaged property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death occurred, a missing pony report will be filed within 90 days or after the property and premises had been thoroughly cleaned, bleached at the carpets have been replaced.” The stallion’s heart skipped a beat. “Wha-?” “Blah, blah, blah, now that might sound bad, I know, but there’s really nothing to worry about. The animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night.” “...” “But do I blame them? No! If I were forced to sing those same stinkin’ songs for twenty years and I never got a bath, I’d be a bit irritable at night too. So remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, so you need to show them a little respect alright? So just be aware that the characters do tend to wander a bit, they’re left in some kind of free-roaming mode at night.” Flash noticed himself looking around the room with unease. This was not fun… “Something about their servos locking up if they get left off for too long, they used to be allowed to walk during the day, too!” ‘Oh, so if they were allowed to do that, they’ll be harmless… right?’ “But then there was the bite of ‘87. Yeah...It’s amazing that the pony body can live without the frontal lobe.” Sheer panic, that’s what Flash was feeling right now. His pupils shrank and one eye twitched as he tried to process what he just heard. ‘M-maybe that was just a one-time thing…’ “Now. Concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as the night watch is if any, is that if these characters, well if they see you after hours, they will most likely won’t recognize you as a pony. They’ll probably see you as an endoskeleton without its costume on. “Now, since that’s against the rules here at Big Mac’s Pizza, they’ll probably try to…” He hesitated. “Forcefully stuff you inside a Big Mac suit. Umm… N-now that wouldn’t be so bad, if the suits themselves weren’t filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices. Especially around the facial area. So you can probably tell why having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those can cause a bit of discomfort… and death.” If anypony looked at Flash, they would think the scariest movie in the world had just been made and he just got done watching it. Pure horror was smeared across his face. He had to get out of there! But he couldn’t go out there, they might see him and give a chase! Oh what was he going to do?! “The only part of you that would see the light of day again would be your eyes and teeth, which pop out of the face and mask. Hehe… yeah, they don’t tell you these things when you sign up.” He seemed to trail off before picking up again. “But hey! First day should be a breeze, chat with you tomorrow, and check those cameras and remember to close those doors when only absolutely necessary! To conserve power. Alright, goodnight.” The line went dead. Flash looked to the closed doors. He really didn’t want to open them, he just wanted to hide under his desk. But what happened if the power did run out? He looked around the desk quickly and found what he was looking for, it was a tablet. When he turned it on, it showed three ponies. One pony was a beautiful yellow Pegasus with a long pink mane, she was wearing a pink bowtie and light purple bunny ears. Behind her was a bright pink pony with a darker shade of pink and huge curls for the mane, around her neck was a little bib spelling out ‘let’s eat’. In the front of the group was a huge red stallion, his orange mane gleamed against the dim light shining against them all, upon that orange metal mane, was a small top hat. Flash, seeing they were all settled in, reluctantly opened both doors. He gently sat back down in his seat and decided to take a closer look at the cameras. After five minutes of checking through the rooms with nothing happening, flash started brighten up, losing hope that the animatronics would move. Before he could really get settled in, he once more checked the room holding the animatronics. To his surprise and horror, the yellow pony was not there. “GAH!” He yelped as he frantically checked the rooms. He nearly dropped the tablet and was unable to hold back a rather feminized scream when he saw the Pegasus’s bright blue eyes looking at him, way too close to the camera for his liking. He quickly covered his mouth and slammed the tablet onto the desk, though not hard enough to damage it. He looked over his shoulder to the doors out of instinct to make sure nopony was there. He was both too scared to look, and too scared to turn away. His mind went into panic as he looked back at the screen, the yellow pony was still there, eyes staring into his soul… He shook his head and quickly changed the screen back to camera A1 where he made sure the two other animatronics were still there, he sighed, they're still there. Clicking back to the party area, he found the blue eyes no longer there. Panic filled his body as he checked all the camera’s once more. “She’s coming over here!” He yelped as he saw she did indeed move into the hallway, closer to his room. “Does this count as I need to close the door?” He questioned. “Let’s just do it.” Checking the camera again to see what side she was on, he closed the door to his left. At the bottom of the screen, the battery meter went up to a yellow. He gulped. Putting the tablet down for a moment he flipped through the papers once more. He didn’t find anything strange about the history of this place. Why? If there were killer animatronics here, wouldn’t there be at least a story about it? He check the camera again and this time the Pegasus wasn’t there. “Huh?” Slowly looking behind him, he saw the door still shut. Looking through the window, he saw the Pegasus staring right at it. “GAH!” He jumped out of his seat and landed backwards. “SHE’S HERE, SHE’S HERE, SHE’S HERE!” He kept repeating. “S-SHE CAN’T GET IN...RIGHT?!” He didn’t want to look at her again, she would have looked adorable and cuddly, if there was not blood seeping out of her eyes. Having the door closed gave him little comfort but at least it was something at all. In his complete melt down, he nearly forgot to check the tablet. Grabbing the tablet, and almost dropping it in the haste, he checked A1… and almost threw up seeing that the pink pony was no longer there. Tears were brought to her eyes as he frantically checked all the cameras. Finally, he saw her in the vents. Not too far from where he was. “H-how did she get in there?!” C-can she get in from the vents?! What do you I do?!” He shakily put the tablet down and clicked the light on for a moment. As the light flickered on and off, so did a shadow on the wall. “S-still there… Will she leave?” He looked back to the tablet. At the top of the screen there was a clock, 4:00. He clicked through the cameras. “Not in the vents, where is she, where is she, where is she?! C-coming down the other hallway… O-okay…” He ran over to the door to the left and clicked the red button before it sealed shut, protecting him from the deadly robots. Flash then trotted over to the right door, he checked the light and thankfully saw no shadow. He was still cautious and looked through the window, nope not hiding either. He opened the door with hesitance before looking left and right for extra measures. He checked the camera’s again. The yellow pony was in the party room, again. “Why would she go back there?” He silently wondered. He switched through cameras again. “The pink pony looks like she is in a room like the yellow except it’s a private party… Hmm… I’ve never seen that room before.” Flash checked his status. 5:30 a.m. %10 power Flash gulped. He was almost out of power and it was only 5:30! The place opened at 1:00 p.m. Does that mean he’ll die here? Maybe if he kept the door shut before the power went out, maybe they’ll stay closed. He reached for the button to close the right door before deciding against it and pulling him hoof back. If he was going to do this, he was going to try to waste as little power as possible and close it right before the power is out. The next twenty minutes was spent checking through the cameras to see if anything was happening. To his surprise, the giant red stallion animatronic hadn’t moved. The other two animatronics had only moved rooms every once in a while but never came close to wandering back to the security room. It was 5:55 when everything happened at once. “W-wait! How did she get here so fast?!” Flash shouted in panic after closing the left door just before the Pink pony could enter. “She was on the other side of the building when I last checked on her!” He quickly scanned through the cameras. Luckily for him, the yellow one was slower and was showing signs of just leaving the hall way. “She’s coming!” Flash prepared. Walking over to the right door, he looked through and saw her approaching. “GAH!” He slammed his hoof on the red button, sealing the door. He checked the camera’s and almost died. The stallion wasn’t there. Some part of him still had hope that he would live. The doors were still shut. He was still safe. He was going to be okay. “Pppeeeeewww” With that noise, the lights turned off and the doors opened and flash’s eyes shrunk to pinpricks, so small if someone was to look, they would think he didn’t have pupils at all. Flash used all the courage he could -which was barely anything- to crawl under his desk and wait. Stomping. That’s all he heard. Stomp, stomp, stomp. He breathed. Stomp, stomp, stomp. It was getting closer. Stomp Stomp Sto- The sound of a music box started from out of seemingly nowhere. It was childish and if it weren’t played in this situation he would listen to it all day. Though right now, it seemed to haunt him. Something flashed inside the room, he looked up. And immediately regretted it. There was an animatronic in the room, he stared down at flash. His eyes and mouth glowed, the glowing red around them told Flash this was the red stallion that hadn’t moved the whole time he was on patrol. He shrieked. A girly, high pitched, blood curling scream as he was picked up from under the desk and held in the air. This was it. He was going to die. Stuffed into a suit and forced to sit in the storage room until he died if he hadn’t already died in the process of fitting inside. He wasn’t going to live a long happy life, he wasn’t going to have a family, and he was going to die a horrible death! Before he could process what the robot was going to do to him, there was another sound and everything around him stopped moving. It was the same sound of when the power went out. Was there a timer set on the animatronics? Did they turn off automatically? The hoof loosened its grip and faster than anypony could blink, flash grabbed the tablet and was already out of the building. He would keep watch the rest of the time outside. 6:01 %0 power. Author's Note Hello!!!! Sorry that this is a short chapter and all the other chapters will probably be short too. I don't know much about FNAF so I'm working with what I know. If you don't like flash (which I know most of you don't like him) you can vote if he dies early or not.) SO YEAH! I hope you guys like, the message on the phone belongs entirely to FNAF.
