My name's Professor Oak, and I research and study Pokemon! What's that? what are Pokemon? Pokemon are the creatures that inhabit this world! They come in all shapes and sizes, and they live in all sorts of habitats! Some swim in the seas, some run across the land, others fly high in the skies! They are all unique and powerful! But first things first! What is your name, trainer?" "Twilight Sparkle." Twilight Sparkle? What a distinct name if I say so myself! Now, are you a boy, or a girl? "Girl" "Excellent! Now, your Journey in the Pokemon world begins now!" ==================================================================================================== Twilight Sparkle woke up in a cold sweat. She panted for a few seconds, and then flopped back down on her bed, letting the sweat on her brow drain onto the sheets. She tried to remember the dream she just had, except the task was like keeping water in her cupped hooves, and it was proving harder and harder to remember. "Not to self. Ask Celestia about weird dream that I can't remember." she said. Then noticed her clock. A bright and early seven o'clock. She fumbled with the blankets for a second, the she sat up, and slipped out of bed. As she went downstairs, she noticed that there was a scroll on the table with a note. Twilight looked at the note. Got this around midnight. Note the seal. Spike. Twilight rolled her eyes, but she followed Spike's advice. It wasn't Celestia's normal seal, it was some sort of orb with a circle cut out of it with two lines coming out of the orb. Celestia's normal seal was below it. She unfolded the scroll and began to read. Dear Princess Twilight, An old friend of mine is visiting for the first time in quite a while, and he has a special task for a special volunteer. He could be seen as odd-looking and intimidating, but he is a noble and just being. He has many children, and all of them are powerful in their own way. Unfortunately, none of them can visit, but he is here, and maybe he can tell you about them. He would like to meet you as soon as possible. P.S. He is noble, but he has a very stern attitude, so please tell Miss Pie that a party might not be on his mind at the time you meet. Princess Celestia Twilight closed the scroll, and began to think. "Old Friend? Celestia hasn't many friends besides Luna, Cadance, and I, plus my friends, so who could it be? Besides, I don't think it's Discord, as he doesn't have children. Sombra or Tirek?...No. just no. So who is it?" she mused to herself. She thought to herself for quite a while. "Hey, Twi. Morning!." Spike's voice snapped Twilight out of her thoughts. Spike looked at her with a look that said "You read it, didn't you?". "Did you read this, Spike?" "Nope. Just as in the dark as you are." Spike said before hopping up next to Twilight, and taking a bite out of a large emerald. "Well, it says that an old friend of Celestia's is missing, and it says in the letter that its a he, but other than that, I'm in the dark." "Well, that's surprising. Should I get the others?" "Please do. We're going to Canterlot." THREE HOURS LATER "WE'RE HERE!" Pinkie Pie bounced along the street, humming a merry tune. Rarity rolled her eyes and caught up to her, as not to be left behind. As the group reached the castle, they opened the door. Surprisingly, the Guards didn't know who it was either, so after a bit of walking, they ran into Princess Luna. "Well, I do know, and I can direct thou to him." Luna said kindly, and pointed with her hoof towards the throne room. As they entered, Celestia smiled. But everyone else gasped. Well, mostly everyone. The "old friend" was unlike anything the ponies had seen before. It reminded Twilight of a large deer, except white, with several gems on his body. His ears were surpassed by a plume on the back of his head, and a large golden ring with protruding spikes emanated from the center of his body. An aura of radiance gave Twilight the felling she was in the presence of another deity. She bowed, and her friends followed suit. Arceus, the god and creator of the Pokemon world and the Pokemon itself, laughed and set down his teacup using Psychic. "There's no need to bow." Celestia rolled her eyes. Applejack was the first to find her voice. "Who, or what, are you? A've never seen anything like you before." "I am Arceus, the Original One, the Alpha Pokemon. I have created a world, and my many children." "Wow, that's quite a title. But I'll have to see it before I believe the claim that you created a world." Rainbow Dash said sarcastically. "Very well." There was a bright flash, and Twilight and her friends found themselves standing on the clouds, looking down at several huge islands. Twilight was taken aback by the cities, mountains, rivers, lakes, plains, and jungles. She could see five islands in all, as two were connected. To say she was shocked was an understatement. "Impressed?" Arceus said to a flabbergasted Rainbow Dash. "You...created...ALL THIS?" Rarity said, taken aback. "Yes and no. The landscape is my creation. The cities, towns, and the like are the result of humankind. They like to change things. But recently, I have had little reason to trust them. Using devices they call Pokeballs, they capture my Pokemon and train them for battle. They use them well, but it is still untrustworthy in my eyes. Celestia has advised me that one of you, hopefully, will change my mind. I would like to request that one of you become my emissary to humankind." "Not me." said Rainbow, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie, and Fluttershy, but Twilight remained silent. "I'll do it." Twilight said firmly. "Twilight! You Can't be SERIOUS!" Pinkie said. "Who's gonna eat all my cupcakes!?" "I am, Pinkie. I've been through worse than going to another world. Just look at Tirek." "You sure about this, Twi?" Applejack asked with concern. "'Cause I'm not." "I'll be fine, AJ." "Alright, Twilight. Because your current form would stick out quite a lot, allow me to...shall we say...adjust it." Arceus said. Twilight nodded, and there was a bright yellow flash. After it subsided, Twilight had changed. Her body was now bipedal, with fair brown skin and purple eyes. She was wearing a white t-shirt, purple jeans, a silver cap, and purple shoes. She also carried a white bag, with a red and black orb design on the front. She took a few practice steps, and she smiled at Arceus. "Ready." Twilight said with determination in her voice. "One more thing." Arceus said, and a golden ring, with a purple void appeared. Arceus used Psychic, and a ornate case floated out towards Twilight. Arceus opened it, and inside it was a red and white orb. Twilight took it and put it into her bag. "Inside that Poke'ball is one of my Pokemon." "Which Pokemon is it?" Twilight asked. "You will see. It knows Metal Sound, Sacred Sword, Fury Cutter, and Swords Dance." "Thank you. I'll treat it well." "No thanks are necessary.. Time to begin!" Twilight was then enveloped in a strange yellow glow. As it grew brighter and brighter, she could no longer see Arceus or her friends, but she could hear them saying goodbye. As the voices faded, Arceus's voice resonated into her ears. "Reach for the stars! Don't give in, no matter what!" Twilight tried to respond, but she couldn't speak. As the glow subsided, she found herself on a couch in a house. As she tried to get up, she was gently eased back down by a human, wearing a red shirt and purple skirt. She had a kind face, and Twilight saw she had placed an ice pack on her head. "You gave me quite a fright, passing out like that." "Sorry. Where am I?" "You're in Littleroot Town, in the Hoenn Region. My name's Sophie." Twilight thought of a name that wouldn't sound exotic, and smiled. "Theresa." "Well, welcome, Theresa. Stay as long as you need." Sophie smiled. "Thanks." Twilight replied. Then a photo caught her eye. It was of a stern faced man, giving what looked like some sort of badge to an open hand. Twilight was intrigued by the badge in the hand. It was two black circles linked together, with a purple rim on the outside. "Who's that?" Twilight asked. "Norman, my Husband, giving out his first Gym Badge." "Gym badge?" "My Norman is a Gym Leader, so it's his job." "Gym leader?" "Well..." "Mom! I'm home!' Twilight turned and say a group of teenage humans walked in, all clad in different clothing. One, the leader, Twilight guessed, was wearing a red Turtleneck, with black shorts, and red shoes. A green backpack rested on his shoulders. A white cap with a red rim rested on his head. He took it off and wiped the sweat off his brow. "Mason! Glad to have you home!" Sophie said, smiling. "So Mason's Sophie's son." Twilight thought to herself. "But who are the others?" "Who's that, mom?" Mason asked. "That's Theresa. She passed out front. I brought her in." "Should we take her upstairs? A bit of rest would do a lot!" A girl said. She was wearing a blue shirt, with a red skirt. A white cap rested on her head. She carried a large yellow bag, and wore red shoes. She had a very kind face, with a few freckles and black hair. She walked over and smiled. Twilight smiled back, and the girl helped her to her feet. As they walked upstairs, the rest followed. "I'll be making dinner! Call me if you need anything!" Sophie said as they ascended the stairs. Twilight smiled as she walked into the bedroom. "This will go well. I just know it." she said to herself. Learning ExperienceAs Twilight woke up, she saw that the girl that had taken her upstairs was sitting on a chair, looking at some sort of red device with an open screen. As she closed the screen, she looked at Twilight and smiled. "Morning." "Morning?" Twilight said, confused. "It's around Seven AM. You slept through dinner." "What about Breakfast?" "Mason's Mom is still cooking. She sent me to get you up. The others are downstairs." she said. "Thanks...." "Grace." "Grace." Twilight said as she got out of bed, and as Grace stood up, Twilight saw her bag next to the bedpost. As she picked it up, Grace nodded, and began to walk downstairs. As Twilight followed, she saw that the rest of the group were sitting on a couch, watching some sort of screened device. What looked like a large coffin, with four arms and a strange black and purple creature clad in bows were holding some sort of paddle in the air and hitting a ball back and forth was emblazoned on the screen. "What's on?" Grace asked, leaning on the sofa. "Big stadium. A Cofagrigus and a Gothitelle are dealing it out in Table Tennis." A boy said. He was wearing a blue jacket, with black pants. A red cap rested on his head, and he wore red sneakers. A group of bags rested on the table. Twilight sat down at the table as she watched Sophie cook some sort of blue berries into a meal of some sort, then ladled the meal into bowls, then put each bowl at a spot on the table. As Twilight waited, the others eventually sat down. As they began to eat, Twilight tasted the meal, then began to eat. "So, Theresa, where are you from?" Mason said. "I've been wondering that for a while now." "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Twilight replied. "Really? We could tell you a few things that you wouldn't believe, and in return, you tell us a few things about yourself." The red-capped boy said with a laugh. "Well, shoot." Twilight said. "I saved the Unova region from complete and utter destruction at the hands of Team Plasma." the boy said. "Get out of here!" Twilight said. "He's not kidding, Theresa. I saved Kanto from Team Rocket." Grace said. "So did I! Well, I saved Johto, but It was still Team Rocket!" another girl said. She was wearing a white cap, a red shirt, blue shorts, white socks, and red shoes. She had an eager face. "I beat Team Magma! Top that!" Mason said with a grin. "I beat Team Galactic and saved FIVE Legendary Pokemon in one shot!" The beret boy said. "I beat Team Flare and destroyed a super-weapon, and saved an ancient king!" A final boy said. He was wearing a red cap, hiking boots, a short-sleeved blue jacket, and black pants. Twilight also noticed that they all were wearing a cuff or bracelet imbued with some sort of clear stone, with some sort of sigil inside it. "Wow. That is a pretty impressive list of accomplishments." Twilight said, shocked at their feats. "Well, we held up our end of the deal, so what about you?" Mason said, leaning in. "I'm an alien." Twilight said. "Wow. That...was...unexpected." Grace said, with a shocked expression on her face. "Yep. I'm a pony from Equestria. My real name's Twilight Sparkle, but you can still call me Theresa. I guess it fits more in this world." "Really? That was...underwhelming." Grace said. "But, since we know your names, I guess it;s fair you know ours." She pointed a the beret boy. "Nate." Nate smiled. Then at the boy with the jacket. "Matthew." Matthew tipped his cap. Then at the boy with the red cap. "Chase." Chase gave her a thumbs-up. Then at the girl with the red hat. "Abigail." Abigail laughed. "Well, thanks." Twilight said. "I'm also a princess." If the alien statement hadn't shocked them, this one did. Mason fell back in his chair. Nate's mouth dropped. Chase put his palm to his face and snickered. Grace rolled her eyes and laughed. Abigail hung her head and smiled. "What?" Twilight said. "And we though that being an alien was surprising." Grace said in between fits of laughter. Mason was the first to speak. "That was really surprising. What's a alien pony princess doing here?" he asked. "Arceus brought me here. he said he's had little reason to trust humans since you developed what he called the Pokeball, and he wanted me to change that." "Arceus?" Nate said, confused. "Yeah. He's actually a pretty nice being." "So, now that you're here, what are you gonna do?" Abigail said. "Well, I don't know." Twilight replied. "You could always go on a Pokemon Journey, like we did. I mean, Professor Birch's lab is here in Littleroot Town, and he has a few Pokedexes left. Being a Pokemon Trainer might not be a bad idea." Mason said. "That actually sounds good to me. Problem is, I don't know a lot about Pokemon." Twilight said with a sigh. "Allow us to educate you!" Nate said. "Did I miss anything?" Twilight looked and saw Sophie, who was carrying a shopping bag. At the moment she said it, every trainer in the room, except Twilight, immediately fell to the floor with a groan. "I missed something, did I?" Sophie said, anxious. "Not really." Twilight said with a laugh. ================================================================================================================== As Everyone settled themselves down, Twilight sat on the bed, next to Grace, who put her hand to Twilight's shoulder in a reassuring way. "Well, Pokemon 101. Let's get started." Mason said. "Pokemon are the creatures that inhabit this world, and we work, play and live alongside them. Some live in groups, others alone. Some swim in the seas, some fly in the skies, some live deep in the forests, caves, mountains, what have you We still think that there are Pokemon out there we haven't discovered yet. Pokemon are all unique, either being male or female, and some being neither male or female." Mason said. "Neither?" "Yeah. Pokemon such as nearly every Legendary Pokemon, the Beldum, Bronzor, Baltoy, Porygon, Cryogonal, Golett, Voltorb, Klink, Magnemite, and Staryu evolution lines, as well as Shedinja, Carbink, and a few others are genderless." Chase said. "Evolution?" Twilight asked, confused. "Most Pokemon, when a certain condition, or conditions, are met, such as friendship with the Trainer, exposure to certain evolution stones, receiving a certain item, learning a certain move, trading between trainers, trading while holding an item, exposure to weather, or by leveling up in battle, change into a new Pokemon completely. For example, A Turtwig, when it reaches level 16, evolves into Grotle, and then into Torterra at level 36. A Pokemon's level is the term we use for how strong a Pokemon is. Pokemon, when they evolve, can learn new moves, gain a new type or change types completely, and change their stats or Effort Values, or EVs. Stats and EVs being their key attributes of strength, which are Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed." Matthew said. "What's the difference between special attack and defense, and regular attack and defense?" Twilight said. "Good question. Special attack and attack determine the damage done by Physical and Special attacks, and Special defense and Defense reduce damage taken from those attacks. A physical attack directly touches the opponent, while a special attack deals projectile damage. Some moves, which we call status moves, don't deal damage directly. They often boost stats, evasiveness, accuracy, or inflict status conditions such as poison, burns, paralysis, sleep, freezing, or confusion. They are most often used to boost the user or decrease the effectiveness of the opponent." Nate said. "Wow. You mentioned types. What are those?" Twilight asked. "Each Pokemon has a type or a special characteristic. Each type has strengths and weaknesses, and some are immune to attacks for a certain type. The types are FIRE, WATER, GRASS, ICE, FLYING, ROCK, GROUND, STEEL, POISON, FIGHTING, NORMAL, FAIRY, DARK, PSYCHIC, ELECTRIC, BUG, GHOST and DRAGON. Fairy is immune to Dragon, Steel is immune to Poison, Ground is immune to Electric, Normal is immune to Ghost, Ghost is immune to Normal AND Fighting and Flying is immune to Ground." Abigail said. "Dragon? Ghost?" Twilight said, a bit scared. "They only share the Characteristics of dragons or ghosts, they aren't actually dragons or ghosts." Grace said quickly, reacting fast. "Thanks. One of my friends is scared of Dragons, so that would make it difficult." Twilight said sheepishly. "It's okay. But, back to the subjects at hand. The thing is, Pokemon aren't peaceful. They fight. And we battle with them as partners." "You make them fight?" Twilight said, slightly abhorred. "We don't MAKE them, Twilight. They choose to battle with us as partners and friends, and it's accepted into our culture. Besides, in order to challenge the Elite Four and the Champion of each region, you need to battle and win against every city or town's Gym Leader. There are alternatives to Pokemon battling though. The Contest Spectaculars in Kanto, Sinnoh, and Hoenn all revolve around showing off Pokemon, and not battling them. Poke-Ringer, Safaris, and other events can serve as side-paths to battling, but it's generally the main thing we do with our Pokemon." "I see." Twilight replied. "Well, Twilight, we could continue, but I believe the best way to learn is to learn is to learn hands on. Professor Birch's lab is here in Littleroot Town. Why not grab a Pokedex and become a trainer?" Mason said. "That actually sounds like a plan!" Twilight said, and everyone laughed. Leaving Littleroot"Hey Mom! We're heading out to Birch's lab!" Mason yelled. "See you soon, son! Have fun!" Twilight sighed as she was led out the door. As her eyes adjusted to the sunlight, she saw a few other houses, and a larger one, with a Pokeball design. As she took a few steps, Mason tapped her on the shoulder. "What's up, Mason?" "Just reminding you to stick to the plan for now." Mason said with a smile. Twilight sighed. They had agreed on the plan to conceal Twilight's identity as much as possible after the long talk about Pokemon she had been given. Even though she was eager to learn more, and possibly catch a few Pokemon of her own, she was still apprehensive about the idea of lying about her name and origins to nearly everyone she meets. As the group walked towards Birch's lab, Twilight saw a round man, with a jolly face, wearing a lab coat, talking to a girl around Mason's age, with brown hair. The girl noticed Mason, smiled, and ran up to him. "Mason! How's it been?" she said. "Great, as always. Hey, May, this is Theresa. She ended up here a few days ago." Mason said, and they shook hands. While May and Twilight made small talk, Mason walked up to Birch. "Ah! Mason! What can I do for you?" "Theresa wants to become a trainer. You got any spare Pokedexes?" "As a matter of fact, I have one left. I had two, but a new trainer by the name of Riley came and received hers around the same time that thunderstorm showed up!" Birch said. "Theresa can have the last one. It's inside." "Thanks." Mason said, and as he walked in, he stopped suddenly. A girl of around his age, wearing a silver jacket, jeans, and a green hat was looking at the Hoenn map. Mason frowned, but at that moment, she noticed him. "Oh! sorry, you surprised me!" she said. "I can presume you're Riley?" he replied. "I'm Mason. Professor Birch told me that you had left." "Yeah. I came back to get my National Pokedex upgrade. Nice to meet you, Mason." Riley replied. "Wait. Mason...You're the Hoenn Champion!" she said, shocked. Mason shrugged and sighed. "Yeah, that's me. I've been at the Battle Resort for a bit, so I haven't been seen a lot." he said sheepishly. "Wow. So..uh...how about a battle?" she asked. "Not sure. Hey, I've got an idea. We've got a new trainer here with us, and I think you could be a good match-up for her. She's rather new, and well, Theresa hasn't battled before." "Well, sounds good to me." Riley said, and they walked out. Mason, remembering what they came in for, quickly rushed and grabbed the Pokedex and Trainer ID. As Riley walked outside, she could see the Professor's daughter talking to a girl she had never seen before. Riley shrugged, and walked over. After some introductions, Riley told Twilight that Mason said she might be a good match-up for a battle. "The thing is, I don't know if I have a Pokemon with me. Lemme check..." Twilight said, and as she rummaged through her bag, her hands grabbed an orb. She pulled out a Pokeball, much to Riley and May's surprise. 'Well, that solves that problem." Twilight said, and Riley smiled. "Let's see which one it is!" May said eargerly, and Twilight tossed it upwards. It opened, and a stream of blue energy came out, and out came a Sword-Like Pokemon, colored purple and gray. It turned around, and performed what seemed to be a bow before Twilight, before crying out in a metallic sound. "An Aegislash?" Matthew said, surprised. "They're native to Kalos, not Hoenn." Twilight smiled at the Sword Pokemon. It looked back at her, before it switched to blade form, and using its sword, tapped her lightly on the hand. Mason handed Theresa the Pokedex, and Twilight activated it. Soon, an image of Aegislash came up, and a female voice began to speak. "Aegislash. The Sword Pokemon. In ancient Kalos, Aegislash was said to guard those destined to rule. Its unique STEEL-GHOST typing allows it to have the upper edge against FIGHTING types." "Well, that's cool and all, but I think it's time you meet my partner!" Riley said, and she threw out a Pokeball. The ball opened, revealing a Mantis-like Pokemon, with bladed appendages and wings. It smiled at Riley, before looking at Aegislash. "What Pokemon is that?" Twilight said, surprised. Riley laughed. "It's a Scyther. He's been with me since I started my journey. It's my dream to get him to evolve into a Scizor." she said proudly. "Impressive. So, how about that battle?" Mason said. "I'm ready when you are!" Riley said, and Twilight nodded. As the group of trainers walked out towards Route 101, Birch smiled and put his hand in a gesture of thought towards his mouth. "That Theresa...she's going to make a good trainer!" Birch said, and as he walked back into the lap, a wild Lillipup wearing a bandanna watched from the bushes. As it rushed off towards Theresa and the group, the sun shone brighter than ever as the clouds parted. First FightsRECOMMENDED LISTENING-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb-_MU2hKLE As Twilight and Riley stood around twenty feet apart, with Mason and the others standing aside, the wind began to gust, sending whirlwinds of leaves around them. As Twilight looked at the Pokeball containing Aegislash, she frowned slightly. "This is my first battle." she thought. "Here's hoping I don't mess up." "Ready?" Riley's call snapped her back to reality. She shook the thoughts away and smiled. "Yes. Hit me with your best shot!" "My pleasure! Scyther! Let's go!" As Riley tossed her Pokeball into the air, it opened, sending out a line of blue energy, revealing the Mantis Pokemon. Twilight grinned and tossed her Pokeball into the air, revealing the Sword Pokemon, Aegislash. "Alright, let's go! Scyther, Night Slash!" Scyther roared and charged horizontally at the Sword Pokemon, its left and right blades cloaked in dark purple. Twilight frowned. "Aegislash! Dodge it!" Aegislash did not move as ordered. Instead, it launched a pulse wave, screeching a harsh sound, like scraping metal, straight at Scyther. "Dodge it!" Riley commanded, and Scyther spun to the left, dodging the Metal Sound Attack. "Aegislash! Listen to me!" Twilight yelled, but the Sword Pokemon did not respond. Launching itself forward, it switched to Blade Forme. Drawing back, it then cloaked itself in a blue aura and slashed. Scyther nimbly dodged and launched another Night Slash. This time, the super-effective move conencted. Aegislash was sent flying backwards into a tree. "AEGISLASH!" Twilight yelled, and Riley frowned. "She doesn't have a bond with her Pokemon. Is she really this inexperienced?" She thought. Shaking her head, she focused on the battle. "Scyther! Night slash again!" she ordered, and Scyther again lunged. Aegislash dove out of the smoke from the impact and launched itself forward, ignoring Twilight's command to dodge. "Aegislash!" Twilight pleaded. Riley sighed in response. Scyther slashed and cut several times, and Aegislash did not attempt to dodge, taking the super-effective moves. Then, it screeched and suddenly dove to the side, dodging another Night Slash, then it suddenly put up a shimmering blue shield whilst switching back to shield forme. Riley frowned. "Scyther! Come back!" she said, and it flew back to Riley. Aegislash lowered its shield and launched forward again, ignoring Twilight's protests. Jumping into the air, it switched to blade forme and dived, readying a Sacred Sword attack. Riley did not do anything in response. As soon as Aegislash was about to connect, she suddenly yelled "NIGHT SLASH!" Scyther grinned and sent another super-effective move straight towards Aegislash. Failing to dodge, despite Twilight's order, it took the blow. This was the final nail in the coffin. Aegislash collapsed to the ground, knocked out. Twilight cried out and ran towards her fainted partner. Riley recalled Scyther and dove into her bag. Twilight shed a few tears as she collapsed to the ground. Shaking her partner, she gasped slightly. "He's okay." Twilight looked up, and Riley was offering her a small yellow crystal. "He's just knocked out. Here. This revive should help him feel better." Twilight took the crystal and gave it to her partner. As the Sword Pokemon absorbed it, it got up slowly. Twilight recalled it into his Pokeball, and sighed. "What now?" she said to herself. "We train." Twilight turned to Matthew, who had a sympathetic expression on his face. "I'll help you, Theresa. We just need time."
