"Luna?" Her husband said walking into the castle library.

"yes?" Luna replied smiling warmly as her husband sat down next to her.

"You remember that talk we had about immortality?" Luna outstretched a wing and pulled her husband close.

"Yes. Why?" Luna looked into his brown eyes. "Has thou made a decision?" He smiled. He always liked it when Luna spoke in archaic.

"I have. As much fun as it sounds at first." He looked down at the floor. "I don't want to live forever whether it be vampire or anti-aging spells. I just can't live like that. Watching as my friends and family die around me while I stay young." He Looked back into Luna's now disappointed eyes. "Luna." He said softly. "Stop that! You know I can't stand seeing your eyes like that."

"But-" Luna wanted to argue, but he cut her off.

"No!" He said still speaking softly. "Luna, when I die promise me that you wont cry. Promise me that you'll be happy not that I'm in a better place, but because I lived once, as I should." Luna's eye filled with disappointment and he started to feel disappointed himself. "Promise?" He said again.

"No... I.. I can't!"

"Luna!" He never raised his voice. "Just promise that you wont cry when I die! Please! If you were to promise me one thing in my life, just promise you wont cry!... Promise?"

Luna took a moment before she spoke. "Ok." Luna tried to smile. "I promise!"

The sun was suspended high in the sky as it cast a shadow upon the tombstone of Luna's lost husband. Luna placed a blue flower on the ground in front of the stone. Luna had failed her promise. Celestia stood behind her sister as tears slowly fell down her cheeks as well. A royal guard was galloping through the garden. He stopped ten feet short of the princess'.

"Your highness!" The guard gasped.

"What is it?" Celestia looked back over her shoulder.

"They're here!"

"Very well." Celestia sighed. She turned around and began to walked towards the castle. Luna continued to cry as a pony-sized alicorn walked up. The alicorn had a golden coat, a long teal mane, and the same beautiful cyan eyes of her mother. The alicorn sat down next to Luna. Luna looked over at her daughter. Luna rapped a hoof around her daughter and pulled her close.

"Come on Luna." The alicorn spoke. "We mustn't keep them waiting." Luna looked into her daughters eyes and smiled.

"You're right, Star Light." Luna stood up and looked around. "Where is your brother?"

Celestia walked past a small peach tree on her way the castle entrance. From the shadow of tree walked out another pony-sized alicorn. His coat and mane was vantablack in the light. His mane was drooped down over his face to shield his eyes from the sun.

There she is! A deep voice in the back of his spoke. Strutting around like the worthless bitch she is! Here is your chance! Take it before it's to late! The alicorn's horn illuminated with a black aura.

"Night!" Star Light called out from behind. "There you are! What are you doing?" Night shook his head, bringing himself back to reality.

"Nothing! Nothing at all!" Night turned around to face his sister.

Star Light sighed. "Come on! Might as well get this over with!"

It was late in the evening when Celestia had finished her discussion with the Griffon King. Luna rose the moon and Celestia set the sun and proceeded to her study. Luna, Star Light and Night Reach the doors the conference room. Night's coat and mane were now jet black in the naturally lit hallway. Luna turned around to look at her two lovely children. Luna walked up to Night and with her magic moved Night's mane out of his face.

"Mom!" Night said covering his eyes with a hoof. "I can barely see a thing!"

"You must look your best." Luna moved his hoof and pulled his chin up. "Stand tall at all times... And smile."

"Like any pony could tell if I wasn't." Luna put a hoof on his cheek. Night looked up to meet Luna's gaze. Luna smiled as she looked at his brown eyes.

"You have your fathers eyes." Luna pulled Night into a warm embrace. Luna turned around around and opened the door walking in. Night took a deep breath before walking after her. Luna nodded to Celestia and Celestia got out of the chair and walked out of the room. Luna sat down in the chair and looked down the table at Star Light, Night, then at the Griffon king and queen. "Shall we begin?" Luna said.

"I don't feel safe with.. him around." The griffon glared at Night.

Night silently agreed with the Griffon and was about to stand up and walk out when Star Light put a hoof on his shoulder. "It's perfectly safe. I assure you." She said.

"Ahem!" Luna coughed getting the Griffon king's attention. "I believe there is a more pressing matter to attend."

The griffon adjusted his vision to Luna. "Yes. My castles destruction... " The griffon angled a sharp glance towards Night. "And the punishment." Night looked down at the table.

Some discussion later

"Enough stalling!" The Griffon King yelled out at Luna. "I demand to know why half my castle is destroyed, seventy four of my guards are dead and he still gets to walk free!" The Griffon King slammed his claw on the table and pointing the other at Night who's head was now laying on the table not wanting to make eye contact. Luna was about say something when doors opened. A royal guard walked in.

"What are you doing in here?" Luna asked.

"The stars are missing from the sky." The guard said looking at Star Light. Looked back at him surprised.

"I didn't put up the stars?" Star Light said confused. Night's ears had perked up, but he was too tired. "I'll be quick!" Star Light stood up and walked over to the door.

Night's head shot up. "I'll go with her!" He said anxiously getting up.

"NO!" The Griffon King yelled. "You're staying until we find a proper punishment for you!" Star Light turned back to Night resting a hoof on his shoulder.

"I'll be back in no time!" She showed him a reassuring smile. Star Light walked out of the room being escorted by the guard. Night lingered in place for a moment before sitting back down and resting his head on the table.

"Ahem." Luna cleared her throat. "As I was saying..-"

"NO!" The Griffon King interrupted. "I have had enough of your lectures! Bring me Princess Celestia! Now!" Night's head shot up again and turned to meat the same shocked look Luna held.

"Are-are you sure you want to speak with my sister?" Luna looked back at the Griffon King. Night looked over as well.

"Yes! I'm tired of hearing your pathetic excuses! This monster deserves to be punished for what her has done! All you've done is stall and give him mercy! He deserves to be locked away forever! I am not speaking another word to you! So go retrieve Princess Celestia so we may discus the punishment for this beast!" The Griffon King continued to stare down Luna.

"Monster?!" Luna said trying to hold back her anger. "Ahem. Well if you want to speak with my sister, I can have her brought back in and we can-"

"No! Just Celestia!" The Griffon King ordered.

"Just Celestia?" Night's eye lit with horror. "Well once Star Light gets-"

"NO! ONLY CELESTIA!" The griffon stared Luna down.

"You want to speak with my sister? Alone? With Night? No pony else?" Luna looked at him utterly baffled. That was exactly how his castle was demolished in first place.

"I have had enough of this! GUARDS!" The griffon yelled and one of the royal guards walked into the room.

"What is you request?" The guard said stopping at the far end of the table.

"Get me Celestia! Immediately!" The guard trotted out of the room and closed the door. After a minute the guard came back in with Celestia following shortly behind him.

"You wanted to speak with me?" Celestia said looking at the Griffon King.

"Yes!" The griffon looked back at Luna. "I believe we are done here!" Celestia looked at Luna unaware of the previous conversation. Luna to a moment to bottle her rage and calm herself.

"Very well!" Luna said calmly as she got up and proceeded to the door. Luna walked up to Night and leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Find the light." Night immediately got lost in thought as he recalled his fondest memory of his father.

Five years ago

It was a cold night as Night sat gloomily on Luna's balcony looking over Equestria. He looked up at the endless darkness that was the night sky.

"Night. What's wrong?" His father said sitting down next to him trying to find what Night was staring at.

"Nothing." Night answered not looking away from the darkness. His father turned Night's body around to face him.

"Night. You can tell me what's wrong. I'm your father, that's what I'm here for." Night looked into his father's eyes and saw Luna and his father standing in front of two grave stones. Luna sobbed uncontrollably onto her husbands shoulder as he held her up. Night couldn't see all that was written on the tomb stones. Only two names shown clear. Night and Star Light. Night leaned in and tightly rapped his forelegs around his father. His father returned the hug. "Now what's wrong Night?"

"It's just that whenever I get mad, I can't control myself or my rage." Night looked up at his father.

His father took a moment to figure out what to say. "Well.. if you feel yourself getting out of control. Find your happy place." He said smiling. Night looked down at the floor.

"I don't like my happy place. It's scary!" His father took another moment to find something else to say. He looked at the white star that was Night's horn and smiled.

"Then find the light." His father said poking his horn where the star was. Night looked up at his horn and then smiled. "See!" His father pulled him into another hug.

"YEAH!" Young Star Light bounded, cheerfully throwing a hoof around Night and pulling him close. "Just find me!" The three shared a short laugh.
