Granted she had her two sisters with her as friends of sorts, but between Adagio's bossiness and Aria's temper it was hard for the youngest of the Sirens. Although Adagio's plan was for her and her sisters to take over the school and then the world, Sonata had her personal reasons for helping her sisters. In her simple and mostly innocent mind, Sonata wanted to make friends with everybody since it was tough for her to put up with her sisters. Sonata loved her older sisters very much, but she wanted to have many friends. Sadly Sonata didn't understand how friendship truly worked, which is why she tried to have people fall under her spell. "This is the worst Adagio...." Aria Blaze said to her older sister, "first we go through the pain of trying to get into that high school, and when we finally get everyone under our control, we seriously get our tails kicked by Sunset and her crew" Aria said in an upset tone, she and her sisters were sitting at a table at a diner. "My plan would've worked perfectly, if it wasn't for that Vinyl. If she didn't wear her headphones we would've won" Adagio Dazzle said to her younger sister. "Its almost as if she left them on, because she knew about our singing" Sonata Dusk finally said after looking around the diner from her booth for awhile, she wanted to make sure no one from the school was around who still wanted to throw stuff at her and her sisters. "That or she just listens to her music too much" Aria said in a grumpy manner. "Really?" Sonata asked. "Listen you two!" Adagio said in order to get her sisters' attention, "either way we look at it. We've gotten ourselves into a big amount of trouble, we're students at Canterlot High now. Which means we have to attend school or else, which means we have to attend school as soon as the weekend is over" Adagio said as she made it clear to her sisters, that they had to return to school rather they wanted to or not. "I wonder what it'll be like when we get back? We've been gone a long while......like half a week" Sonata said in a cheerful manner. "Ugh.........what do you think it'll be like? The student body hates us for the trouble we made, and no one wants to see us" Aria said, she saw that Sonata was about to say something but she wasn't done talking yet "and if they do see us, odds are they'll give us the cold shoulder" Aria said to her little sister. Sonata was silent for a moment, but then she got a smile on her face and said "what if we apologize?" she said with a smile. "Forget it! Even if we do apologize, I bet they'll still hate us" Aria said in a serious tone. "Yeah well I think that they'd give us another chance" Sonata said. "Aria is right Sonata... Its better if we just stick together and avoid everyone else until we finish high school" Adagio said. "But......." Sonata had a sad look starting to form on her face. "........Sonata, look.......its just better if we don't do that to ourselves again" Adagio said with a hint of concern and care in her voice. Sonata got a pouty look on her face, she was certain if she gave the students back at Canterlot High a chance then they'd give her a chance, and her sisters as well. The weekend passed by, and the Dazzling Sirens returned to school, the trio mostly avoided everyone in the school best they could and Adagio and Aria were given the cold shoulder by the students. The five human members of the Mane Six and Sunset Shimmer, just avoided the Sirens because they didn't want to make any trouble or to be bothered by the trio. Sonata tried to talk to some of the other students, but most of them ignored her, when some of them turned around to face her she got scared and ran away from them. One time when she ran away she bumped into one of the substitute teachers, "oh my, I'm so sorry sir!" Sonata said to the substitute teacher. "Its quite alright miss, that's surely one way to make an introduction" the substitute teacher said as he fixed his neck tie. "I'm sorry, I was just scared...." Sonata said. "Like I said before miss um...." the substitute teacher didn't know Sonata's name. "I'm Sonata Dusk......" she said. "Hmm.....oh right you're one of those Siren girls I've heard about, well miss Sonata. I advise you not to run in the hallways in the future because you might hurt yourself. I'm sure you know already not to make any trouble?" the substitute teacher said. "Right......again I'm sorry for bumping into you Mr....." Sonata never met the substitute teacher before. "Mr. Time Turner, and please make it to science class in time Miss Dusk" Time Turner said. "Sure thing Mr. Time Turner, I have to make sure my sisters make it to class too. Otherwise they'll miss out on the fun" Sonata said as she calmly walked away. "What an interesting girl that Sonata Dusk" Mr. Time Turner said. A day later At the cafeteria everyone was enjoying lunch, Sonata was happy because it was Taco Tuesday. One of her favorite days for her most favorite of all things to eat, she got a few different kinds of tacos to eat. But as she walked calmly to her table, Diamond Tiara tripped Sonata partially on purpose. Sonata cried when she got up and saw her tacos destroyed by the fall "why!? Why did such wonderful tacos have to suffer?!" she said as she began to make a scene. "Looks like the Siren needs to watch where she's walking ehehehe" Diamond Tiara said. Before Adagio and Aria could've said anything, one of the students offered to help Sonata up "would you like a helping hand?" the student asked, she was a blond haired girl. ".....you...want to help me?" Sonata asked. "Yes, you took a nasty fall and lost your tacos" the student said as she patiently waited for Sonata to accept her offer. Sonata was wary about excepting help from someone she didn't know, so she carefully and slowly accepted the student's help. And she was so relieved when she was helped up, "thank.....thank you miss. That was super nice of you" Sonata said with a smile. Everyone who saw this gasped, Adagio and Aria got confused and somewhat dumbfounded looks on their faces. "I'm sorry you lost your tacos, would you like some of mine?" the student offered. "For realsies? Because I was going to see if they had anymore first...." Sonata said. "Yup, I could tell when you first arrived that you had a thing for tacos. So I'm willing to part with some of my tacos to help you out" the student said with a smile, Sonata could tell the student was nice but wondered why the student's eyes were crossed. "Oh thank you so much! I will not forget this......" Sonata didn't know the student's name so she paused. "Oh my name is Ditzy Doo, Time Turner told me a little about you and I remember you from the whole.......you know singing stuff" Ditzy said. "Nice to meet you Ditzy" Sonata said with a smile, but then she remembered about the whole singing trouble "oh.......and sorry about that whole mess......I'm deeply sorry for causing so much trouble. I bet my sisters would apologize if they weren't super scared like me" Sonata said to Ditzy, as Ditzy helped Sonata clean up the taco mess on the floor before giving some of her tacos to Sonata. Ditzy looked to Sonata and said "you're sorry about that mess?" Ditzy asked as she gave some tacos to Sonata, Sonata placed the tacos on her cafeteria trey. "Yeah, all I wanted was to have loads of friends is all. Sure my sisters wanted to do their thing.......but all I wanted was friends" Sonata said. Ditzy looked at Sonata's eyes for a long while, after awhile she said "come sit with just me, I wouldn't mind your company Sonata" everyone was surprised to hear that. Adagio and Aria's mouths dropped wide open in surprise, they closed each others mouths comically. "For realsies?" Sonata said with surprise herself. "For realsies" Ditzy said, she and Sonata sat at a table just the two of them, many students wondered what was going on and what was going to happen. "I take it you like muffins?" Sonata asked as she noticed about a dozen muffins on Ditzy's trey. "Yes! I love muffins! Some of the students gave me the nickname Muffin because of it, that's why I understand your thing with tacos" Ditzy said. "Oh thanks again for these tasty tacos, this school makes some of the best tacos I've ever had" Sonata said as she began to eat a tasty taco. "They are good, now about what you said on trying to make friends?" Ditzy said as she remembered one of the reasons she wanted to talk to Sonata. "Oh yeah, I like totally wanted a ton of friends" Sonata said as she finished a taco, after she cleaned her mouth she began to talk again, "see the thing is I always wanted to have friends. I love my sisters don't get me wrong, its just between the bossiness of my oldest sister and the temper of the middle sister in my family. Its hard for me........I've always wanted loads of friends to make my own" Sonata explained. "You wanted to make friends? Is that truly why you were doing that whole school takeover and ruin people's trust in each other at the school?" Ditzy asked, she wanted to see what Sonata was going to say. "Well duh, what else would I do with my singing? I never could get what it was with making other people dislike or distrust each other though, I just guessed that's how you get people away from each other so they could become your friend. At least Aria and Adagio led me to believe that, with the way they would sing back in the days, I just thought that was natural with getting people to become your friends" Sonata said as she showed what she thought was the way to go about making friends. Ditzy was quite surprised to hear this, she put down a half eaten muffin because she knew she had to make things clear with Sonata on the subject of friendship. "I can't believe you or anyone would think such a thing Sonata!" Ditzy said. "What do you mean?" Sonata asked. "Well........for one, your sisters just did what they did in order to gain power so they could bring disharmony towards others, and mind control them. Kind of like what Sunset did not to long ago..........but anyway...." Ditzy was lost in thought as Sonata said. "But of course, that's how they did their thing. And while they just wanted to get people to do what they wanted for world takeover and such, I like totally wanted tons of friends. And my singing was the only way to make people my friends" Sonata claimed. "Just stop right there please Sonata!" Ditzy said in a serious tone, "look.......its good that you wanted to have friends. But the way you were going about it was completely wrong!" Ditzy said. "How was it wrong?" Sonata asked, she was genuinely unaware of the fact she was wrong. "Look Sonata, you can't just break people apart and then just want to become friends with them. That is wrong and very cruel, and you never ever, ever! Force people to become your friend, I'm sure you've been raised to believe or think otherwise. But let me tell you something, when you and your sisters had me under your control, a part of me was aware of the things I said and did and what others said or did to me in my right mind. What you three did was very cruel, pitting everyone against each other no matter what kinds of friends they were was wrong. I cried hard on the inside as I heard what I said, and heard what others said to me. I remember saying some mean things to Lyra Heartstrings and Bon-Bon, I remember that I wanted to hurt Bulk Biceps because of something he said to me. I even remember that in spite of what I said to my friends that they prevented me and Bulk Biceps from fighting physically, the fact they had enough of themselves left when you three controlled us" Ditzy said. "I was feeling mixed feelings when all of that went on......." Sonata admitted. "......the point is this Sonata, there are many wrong ways you tried to make friends. Trying to break friends apart so you can become their friend is wrong, obviously mind controlling someone to be your friend is wrong, most of all forcing a friendship is wrong.......you and your sisters did some mean and cruel things to us all. But like Sunset Shimmer, I have a feeling that you three aren't completely bad. I feel that you need to be given a second chance, but you have to know the rights and wrongs about friendship before making friends" Ditzy explained. ".....I'm...........I'm.............I'm sorry Ditzy..........I didn't know that at all.........no wonder everyone in the school hates me and my sisters" Sonata said as she began to cry upon realizing her methods of trying to make friends, were far from it. "I don't hate you.......and I don't hate your sisters........you three did some bad in the past sure, but I'm willing to forgive that and find the hearts of gold inside of you. Especially in you Sonata, you seemed like you weren't completely bad, I could tell the moment I first saw you" Ditzy said. "You........you accept my apology?" Sonata asked while drenched in tears. "Yes......because I accept your apology Sonata" Ditzy said as she offered a hanky for Sonata. Sonata used the hanky and blew hard on it, she also dried away her tears. "Ditzy.......thank you for forgiving me.......man....." Sonata said. "Just make sure you don't do anything naughty or mean in the future and we're cool, after all friends shouldn't make trouble" Ditzy said. "Wait........I....you offering me........your friendship?" Sonata asked. "Yes" Ditzy said as she gave a muffin to Sonata. "Oh......thank you.........thank you Ditzy, you're my first friend. Well real friend I didn't use my old powers on to try and make my friend" Sonata said. "Well Sonata, since we're friends you need to know more about friendship. And I've got some friends who can help us, and your sisters if you're willing to wait" Ditzy said. "That sounds nice, and this is a good muffin. Tastes like grape" Sonata said. "It is, so how did you Sirens end up in our world anyway?" Ditzy asked. "Well.........that's a long and very personalized story, it goes like way back. My sisters said that they only wanted a few people to know about it..........once I learn to be a better friend I'm sure they wouldn't mind me telling you my life story and how we got here and what we've been up to since we got here" Sonata explained. "Sounds fair to me, I've got some stories that I'm sure you'd like to hear" Ditzy said. "Maybe we can talk more after lunch?" Sonata offered. "Sounds good to me" Ditzy said. And after lunch the school bell rang for the end of lunch, from this day forth Sonata would learn more about true friendship with her first real friend Ditzy Doo. The cross eyed girl at Canterlot High who was willing to offer a Siren friendship, and willing to forgive the Sirens in spite of everything they did. After all if there was good in Sunset Shimmer, there had to be good in the Sirens. Especially Sonata who truly wasn't evil, but a confused girl who really wanted to have friends. Author's Note This is my contest entry story for Everfree Northwest, I need to get it approved before the end of the deadline tomorrow. I hope I did an alright job with the idea of Sonata and Ditzy in the human world, starting a friendship.
