The Only Chapter (revised)
It had been a few weeks since your poolside exploits, and your life hasn't changed much. You still have the love of your life, you still have your job, and most of the ponies go out of their way to avoid you (except for Rarity friends, her little sister, and her friends). But, little did you know that something was going to happen that would change your life forever.
It all happened when you and your mare were on your way back from a lovely picnic. You were up the previous night and prepared various snacks and food the two of you were going to enjoy. You two had found a secluded part of the park and set up there. The whole time together you’d either talk, joke around and just lie back to gaze at the clouds above. As the sun began to set, you two decided it was time to head home. With basket in hand, the two of you enjoyed your walk back. During your trek through town, Rarity lovingly leaned against you.
“That was a simply wonderful picnic, Dee,” Rarity sighed.
“I’m glad you had a good time, dear,” you smiled.
As you two continued your journey home, you couldn’t help but notice the various ponies that would stare and whisper amongst themselves. You shook your head and sighed.
“Looks like things will never change around here.”
You felt the gentle hoof of your mare touch your hand. As you turned to look at her, Rarity gave you a loving smile.
“I’m sorry, Dee. It’s too bad that they can’t see past their fears to see the gentle soul that you are,” she sweetly spoke.
“It’s okay dear,” you said, as you pulled her in close. “As long as I have you in my life, I can take anything that comes my way.”
You knelt down to give your mare a loving kiss. After your tender moment, you two continued your peaceful trek home. Just, the local fireponies raced past you.
“Huh? I wonder where they’re headed?” you pondered.
“Beats me,” Rarity responded.
You noticed that they turned down the same street as Carousel Boutique. As you saw it turn the corner the two of you felt an eerie chill down your spines.
“You don’t think?” Rarity looked at you with concern.
“I hope not. Come on, let’s go,” you said, as you began to run home.
You arrived home, to see that it was set ablaze. Rarity’s eyes widened in horror.
“My shop...our home...” she wailed.
“How in Equestria did this happen?!” you asked, still in shock.
You saw the fireponies evacuate the ponies that were inside. Once they were out, the fireponies started tending to orange pegasus and a yellow earth pony filly. You recognized them as two of the infamous Cutie Mark Crusaders. You’ve known that Rarity’s sister, Sweetie Belle, and her friends did tend to get into trouble. You quickly rushed over to them.
“Applebloom...Scootaloo!” you said as you ran over to them.
They both turned to see you coming.
“Hey, Dee,” Scootaloo said.
“What in Equestria happened here?” you asked.
“Well, the girls and I wanted to see if we could get our Cutie Marks in ironing. Sweetie Belle thought it would good to practice on our Crusaders capes,” Scootaloo explained.
“Okay, what happened?”
“One of the capes caught fire. We tried to put it out, and it just made everything worse,” Applebloom added.
You groaned, but let out a sigh of relief.
“Well at least you three are-”
You took a quick head count and noticed that one filly that wasn’t there.
“Wait, where’s Sweetie Belle?” you asked.
“She right- Huh? Where is she?” said Scootaloo.
“She was right behind us when we were running out,” Applebloom spoke, as she looked around for her.
As you all were looking around for her, you called out to her.
“Sweetie Belle! Where are you?!”
You heard a faint cry come from the Boutique.
“Help…” the voice cried.
You looked in the front window to see a silhouette of the unicorn filly.
“Sweetie Belle is still in there?!” you shouted.
“WHAT?!” Rarity exclaimed.
The three of them looked to see her shadow.
“Sweetie Belle!” they bawled.
Without thinking, you quickly sat down the basket and removed your jacket. Once you ripped off the sleeve, you reached into the basket and pulled out one of the spare bottles of water. As you dampened the fabric, you noticed mare look at you in confusion.
“Dee, what are you-”
Before she could finish, you had wrapped the sleeve around your nose and headed into the burning building. Inside the heat from the flames slowly drained you and the smoke blurred vision. It was almost enough to make you lightheaded, but you were determined to find Sweetie Belle. You surveyed the room to see if you can see her anywhere.
“Sweetie Belle…lil’ sis! Where are you?!” you managed to say, in between coughs.
“Big…Brother…” said a faint voice.
You turned to where you heard the voice was coming from. You walked pass some fallen debris to see Sweetie Belle curled up in a ball.
“Sweetie?! Speak to me? Are you okay?” you spoke.
She could only weakly nod before she fainted.
“Let’s get you out of here, Sweetie.”
You scooped her up in your arms and headed for the exit. As you were about to make to the door, you were blocked by falling debris.
“No…” you groaned.
In a panic, you looked around to find an exit. You noticed a clear path to the window. You wrapped your arms tightly around Sweetie Belle and made a mad dash for the window. As you crashed through the glass, you barrel rolled a few feet before landing in front of the gathered crowd. When you looked up to face them, and you noticed something different about the gaze. Where it usually had fear and/or disgust, it showed with shock and confusion. Before you had time to respond, Rarity rushed over to you.
“Dee, are you insane?! Why in Equestria did you do that?!” she spoke, as she hugged you tightly. “You could’ve been killed.”
“Sorry to worry you, dear,” you said. “But I couldn’t leave her in there.”
As she saw Sweetie Belle faintly breathing in your arms, she knew exactly where your mind was. Sweetie Belle was one of the first ponies to care about you. She and her friends welcomed you into their group and even took you on some of their ‘crusading’ adventures. The two of you became close, and you’ve come to think of Sweetie Belle as your adoptive little sister, and she thought of you as her big brother.
“I see… You do care for her don’t you?” she asked.
“Of course I do. She's my lil’ sis after all,” you lightly chuckled.
You both shared a short laugh. At that moment, Sweetie Belle let out a little cough. She slowly opened her eyes to see you holding her.
“Big Brother? Rarity?” she spoke.
You both looked and tightly embraced her.
“Sweetie Belle! You’re okay?” you both exclaimed.
“What happened?” she asked as she looked around. “And how’d I get outside?”
“It was Dee,” Rarity explained. “He saw you were still trapped in the shop and rushed in to save you?”
“H-He did?” Sweetie Belle asked.
“Yes, dear. When Dee saw you were in trouble, he ran in without a second thought,” she said with admiration.
Sweetie Belle looked at you for a brief moment. She wrapped you in a tight hug.
“Thank you, Big Brother,” she said with gratitude.
You just chuckled.
“Don’t mention it. A big brother has to look out for my lil’ sis, right?” you said, with a wink.
This caused her to giggle lightly. As you began to hug tightly, you felt a sharp pain coming from your left shoulder. It caused you to winch in pain immediately.
“Dee, what’s wrong?” asked a worried Rarity.
“It’s my shoulder. It hurts,” you groaned.
She went to your shoulder to see the source of your pain. She let out a horrified gasp.
“Dee, you’ve gotten a rather large piece of glass stick out of your skin!”
“Is it bad?” you asked.
“Yes, we need to get you to the hospital ASAP!”
You saw her aura wrap around the blanket and float over to you. You soon felt it wrap around your shoulder and secure the foreign object from moving. You put Sweetie Belle on the ground and tried to stand. As soon as you did, felt your leg buckle and you fell to the ground.
“Dee!”
“Ow, my ankle!” you said, as you gripped your ankle.
You looked to see that your ankle was severely bruised.
“There’s no way I can walk on this…”
You felt something move under your right arm and helped you to your feet. To your surprise, you looked to a spiky maned ochre pegasus stallion had hoisted you off the ground.
“I gotcha buddy,” spoke the pegasus.
“H-Huh? You’re helping me?” you asked in confusion.
“Of course I am,” he chuckled. “You risked your life to save that little filly. It’s only right for me to help out a hero.”
“Hero? But I-”
“No ‘buts’! Now, let’s get you to that hospital.”
“Thank you so much, mister… uh?” Rarity inquired.
“Star Driver. But everypony calls me Star,” he said.
“Thank you, Star,” she replied.
“Don’t mention it,” he smiled.
With that, the three of you headed for the hospital. Upon arrival, your mare rushed to the front desk. After she explained the situation, the nurse quickly got you prepped for surgery. After a few hours of delicate work, the massive shard was removed. It left you with a sling for your arm, and a cast was placed on your ankle. When you were wheeled out by a white earth pony mare with a pink mane tucked into a bun to your hospital room you were elated to see Rarity and Sweetie Belle were waiting for you. Rarity quickly rushed over to you.
“Dee!” she cried. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, dear. Everything went well,” you said, trying to comfort her.
“I was so scared for you. I kept thinking of everything that could go wrong.”
“Rarity…”
“Well let’s get you into bed. You’ve been through a lot today,” spoke the nurse.
Once the task was done, the nurse gave a cheerful smile.
“If there anything you need, just press the button on your remote on the bed, and I will come to assist you,” she beamed.
“Thank you...miss...uh," you spoke.
“Redheart...My name's Nurse Redheart," she responded.
“Thank you, Nurse Redheart," you smiled.
“You're quite welcome, Mr. Hero," Redheart said with the wink.
“Hero?"
“Oh, it’s nothing. I'll leave you to rest,” Redheart said with a bow and left the room.
“She seems nice,” said Rarity.
“Yeah, but why she did call me a hero? I didn’t do anything special?" you asked.
Before she could respond, the doctor came into the room. He was an amber unicorn with curly dirty blonde mane and stethoscope for a Cutie Mark.
“How’s our patient feeling?" he asked.
“Still a little sore but other than that I feel fine,” you stated.
“That’s good to hear,” he smiled.
“Is he going to be okay, doctor...uh...?” asked Rarity.
“My name is Dr. Urgent Care. He’s going to be fine, miss. We were able to remove the shard without damaging any of the tissue. He did, however, bruise his ankle,” he explained.
“Oh, my…” Rarity gasped.
“We were able to alleviate the pain temporarily, but he will need to stay off it for at least a week.”
“Aw, man. A whole week?” you groaned.
“Indeed young man. We don’t know much of your species, and it’s just to make sure you don’t further injure yourself,” Urgent Care explained.
You responded with an annoyed huff. To which Rarity and the doctor lightly chuckled.
“In any case, from what I hear you’re quite the hero,” complimented Urgent Care.
To that, you merely shrugged.
“I’m no hero. I just acted to the situation is all,” you stated.
“But there aren’t many ponies that would selflessly do what you did. You shouldn’t belittle your heroism, my fellow,” he spoke.
“I guess…I never thought of it like that…”
“Exactly Dee, besides I know one little filly that will disagree with you,” Rarity said, with a small giggle.
“She’s right Big Brother...” Sweetie Belle agreed.
You looked around the room to see Sweetie Belle smiling at to you. You couldn’t help but return the smile as you saw that she’s doing okay.
“Well, in any case, he will need to rest and stay off of that ankle,” Urgent Care instructed.
“Yes, sir,” you replied, with a bemused groan.
“I’ll make sure of that,” Rarity said with a stern tone.
“Good, now take care,” the doctor spoke, as he walked out into the hallway.
“We will. Thanks again doctor,” we both stated.
When you looked back Rarity, you saw a look in her eyes that you rarely see from her. It was a look of pure love, not of lust or admiration, but with the sheer and unadulterated love that she had for you. Sweetie Belle was able to read the mood in the room and decided it was time to leave.
“I should be going. I’m sure Applebloom and Scootaloo are waiting for me downstairs.”
As Sweetie Belle was about the head out the door, she’s stopped by Rarity’s voice.
“Don’t think you’re off the hook, little filly. Our parents and I will be discussing what your punishment will be,” spoke Rarity out of the corner of her eye.
Sweetie Belle let out an audible gulp as she left the room.
“Don’t be too hard on her, dear. She’s been through a lot today,” you pleaded.
“That may be Dee, but she must learn her actions have consequences,” she stated. “Now, we’ll have to stay with my folks until our home is rebuilt.”
“I guess you have a point there,” you replied.
You noticed you mare look at you with concern.
“What is it dear?”
“It’s just…well…” she said, trying to find the words.
“Rarity?”
Being careful not the touch your injured shoulder, Rarity buried herself into your chest. Soon after that, you heard muffled sobs coming from her.
“I was so scared…when you ran into that building. I was afraid you wouldn’t come back out,” she managed between sobs.
It pained your heart to see your mare crying like this. You knew she cared deeply for you, and you recklessly put your life in danger without considering her feelings. You placed your hand under her chin and lifted it to so she could meet your gaze. As you saw the tears that ran down her cheeks, he bent down to give her a tender kiss. It wasn’t like your usual passionate kisses, but one to show her that you indeed love her.
As you felt her hooves gently wrapped around your neck and pull you deeper into the kiss, you know that this is what she needed right now. Not to hear your love for her, but for it to be shown it. You rest your hand on the small of her back to give her support. After a few moments, you both broke away from the kiss to gaze into each other’s eye. What was once a look of dismay and worry was now a look of joy and happiness.
“I’m sorry I made you worry dear,” you whispered.
“It’s alright, Dee,” she cooed. “I…I just don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost you.”
You felt her hooves slightly tighten around your neck.
“You mean everything to me,” she spoke.
“And you mean everything to me too, dear,” you said. “I’m sorry I acted so carelessly. I just-”
You felt her soft velvet hoof rest on your mouth as she shook her head.
“Don’t be silly dear. You only did what comes naturally to you. That’s one of the many things I love about you. Finding someone like you that cares for others in spite of yourself is a unique find.”
“I guess you could say I’m a rarity,” you joked.
This caused her to immediately facehoof.
“That was just terrible, Dee.”
“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.”
She let out a light giggle.
“Even now you’re trying to make me laugh in spite of all that’s happened to you.”
“Well, I’m kinda like Pinkie Pie. I just wanna see my mare smile. You look more beautiful when you do,” you said with a wink.
Rarity playfully nudges your free arm.
“And when am I not beautiful?” she asked with an arched eyebrow.
You stroked your chin in contemplation.
“That’s a tough one. I can’t think of a time when you weren’t beautiful.”
This caused her to turn away, but not before you noticed her face showing a slight tint of red.
“Ever the charmer I see.”
“I do try.”
She teasingly stuck her tongue out at you, which caused you to laugh.
“Say care to join me on the bed?” you asked.
“I-Is that allowed?” she responded.
“I’m sure they won’t mind.”
“Well…I guess so.”
Rarity carefully joined you into the in the bed. You wrapped her in a warm embrace.
“Darling~.”
She used her magic to pull the cover over you two. Once you two were snug, Rarity melted into your embrace. As you felt the warmth of your mare against your body, you began to sleep feeling a bit sleepy.
“Goodnight, my love,” you sighed.
“Goodnight, my darling,” she exhaled.
With that, the two of you began to drift off to sleep.
A few months have passed since then, and many things have happened to you. After you left the hospital, word spread about your heroism. While some ponies still kept their distance from you, the townsponies started to warm up to you. Some would even go out of their way to greet you. It was indeed a nice change of pace for you.
In fact, you were approached by the chief of the fireponies, Flamestomper, who offered you a job to join their ranks. Hesitant at first, your mare convinced you that it was a great opportunity. So, with her support, you accepted the job. The training was rough at first, but the results were well worth it. You’ve gotten used to the position you, and loved the idea of being there to help the townsponies if they needed you.
But more importantly, the bond between you Rarity has only grown stronger. You grew to love every aspect of your life whether it was merely helping around the shop before work, going out on a romantic date, joining her and her friends on one of their zany adventures, or just losing yourselves in the throes of passion at night.
You found yourself falling more and more in love with her. It was not too long ago you purposed in your heart to propose to the special mare in your life. It took a few weeks to save up the money, but you were able to take afford the item that you knew would make her happy.
As the sun rose to greet the new day, you were ready to put your plan into action. You had woken up early in the morning to prepare a special breakfast for your mare. It consisted of your famous low-carb honey pancakes, hash browns, sunny side eggs, milk and fresh orange juice.
“Rarity is gonna love this,” you spoke with confidence.
If you knew anything about your mare, it was that she loved it with when you cooked for her. She said it was something about the way it cooks sent her taste buds on a pleasant journey. After you had finished cooking, you prepare breakfast in bed. As you made your way up to the room, you quietly entered and tiptoed to the bed. As you were ready to deliver her meal, you noticed that she was still sleeping. You knelt down to her ear.
“Dear, breakfast is ready~” you whispered tenderly.
She started to stir, but she didn’t wake up.
“Rarity~.”
She slowly opened her eyes. Her face was flushed and staggered to sit up.
“Morning, Dee…” she slurred.
She saw that you made breakfast in bed for her. She gave you a weak smile.
“Breakfast in bed? Dee, you shouldn’t have,” she spoke, as she swayed side to side.
“Dear, are you okay?” you asked a little worried.
“Huh? Of course, Dee. Why do you-”
She fainted back onto her bed. You placed the breakfast on the bed and rush to her.
“Rarity! Rarity!” you cried to her.
As you gently shook her, she slowly opened her eyes.
“Oh my, what happened?” she asked.
“You fainted dear. Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine, Dee. I just feel a little bit warm is all,” she admitted.
You put your hand to her forehead.
“Rarity! You’re burning up!” you shouted.
“Calm down dear. It’s just a little cold,” she softly spoke.
“Do we have any medicine?” you asked.
“I believe so, in the medicine cabinet.”
As you made a mad dash out of the room, to which you heard your mare lightly chuckle. As you were making your way to the bathroom, you heard a knock at the door.
“Who could that be this early?” you questioned.
You made your way to the door to find it was your purple alicorn friend, Twilight Sparkle.
‘Perfect,’ you thought.
“Oh hey Dee. Is Rarity up? I need her to tailor a dress for me–GAH!” she said before dragged her into the house.
“Twilight, I need your help. Rarity is sick,” you explained.
“Oh, my. Where is she?”
“She’s up in the room. Come on follow me.”
You lead her to your room. After you knock on the door, you ushered Twilight in to see Rarity. You both saw Rarity eating her breakfast with must gusto.
“Hungry, dear?” you chuckled.
Upon seeing you’ve returned, a blush snaked across her muzzle.
“Quite, and this breakfast you made is simply divine,” she said, she wiped her mouth with her napkin.
“I do try,” you blushed.
“And you succeeded, Dee,” she winked.
Twilight walked up to Rarity.
“Dee, says that you’re sick?” asked Twilight.
“He’s just overacting, darling,” she said, as she hopped out of bed and spun around. “See, I’m perfect-”
She began to wobble and sway back and forth, while she desperately tried to stay on her hooves. Before she could fall, you quickly made you over to catch her.
“I got you, dear,” you stated.
“Thank you, darling.”
“Anytime, my love.”
You placed her back on the bed.
“Hmm, let me take a look at her,” spoke Twilight.
Twilight walked next to her. She cast a spell that examined Rarity’s body. After a brief moment, Twilight concluded with her examination.
“Hmm…” Twilight said as she rubbed her chin.
“What? What is it, Twilight?” you asked.
“It looks like, she’s caught the ‘Magicis Voluptatem’ Fever,” Twilight explained.
“The ‘Magicis Voluptatem’ Fever? What is that?” you both asked.
It caught you off guard to see Twilight blush.
“Well, it’s a rare sickness that unicorn mares can get. She’ll be fine in three days, but for now, she just needs to rest,” Twilight stated.
“Well, If you say so Twilight,” you responded.
“But what about my shop?” Rarity spoke.
“I’m sure we could afford to take a little time off dear. Your health is more important,” you pointed out.
“But-”
“No ‘buts’, little filly. Now, you stay in bed and get better, ya hear,” you ordered.
With a defeated sigh, she nodded.
“Yes, sir,” she groaned.
“That’s my girl. Now, I’m gonna let Flame know that I’ll be taking off the next few days. I gotta take care of my favorite mare after all.”
Rarity lightly giggled.
“I suppose so. I hope you’ll take good care of me,” she said with a wink.
“But of course,” you said, as you reached to rub her ear.
You heard Twilight clear her throat. You looked to see her awkwardly shifting around.
“Oops, I’m sorry Twi. I forgot that you were there,” you apologized.
“That’s okay. Say Dee, may I speak to you alone for just a moment?” spoke Twilight.
“Uh, sure thing, Twilight. I’ll be right back, my love,” you said, as you rubbed her ear.
You saw her shudder from your touch. You left the room with Twilight.
“So what’s up, Twilight?”
You saw the concerned look on Twilight’s face.
“What? What is it Twilight?”
“I don’t know how to say this…” she said trying to find the right words. “It’s about Rarity’s illness.”
“What about it?”
“Well, you have to be careful around her?” warned Twilight.
“How so?”
“Well, you see this sickness enhances the libido of the one who has it. Every little touch, tender kiss, loving embrace, gentle caress…it can send them into an uncontrollable lust-filled state and won’t stop until she is satisfied. And in her current weakened condition that could be dangerous to her health.”
You thought back to what happened earlier when you just rubbed her ear. You saw her face and could tell that everything she was saying wasn’t a joke.
“What should I do ?”
“Just be careful,” she said.
“I will, thanks for the heads up Twilight.”
As you walked her to her door, she looked back to you with an assured smile.
“Don’t worry, I know you’ll be able to handle her,” Twilight said with a wink.
“I hope so,” you sheepishly grinned.
“I’ll spread the word of Rarity’s shop being closed for the next three days.”
“Thanks again, Twilight. You’re a lifesaver.”
“Anything for a friend,” she smiled.
She left you to tend to your mare.
“Well this is going to be fun,” you groaned.
The next few days, you stayed close to your mare. If she needed anything, you were there for her. Being careful not to agitate her condition, you would wait on her hand and foot. She said it was like being a princess, which to you she was one. Sweetie Belle would stop by to help you out and spend time with her sister. Finally, the third day came, and your mare had made a full recovery. As you headed to your room with another breakfast in bed, you had carefully hidden you engagement gift on her plate.
‘Today is the day! You can do this!’ you thought.
As you reached the door, you steeled your nerves and entered in. And there she was the most beautiful mare in Equestria. Your heart started to race as she looked at you with loving gaze from the bed.
“Good morning, darling~,” she giggled. “Breakfast in bed again? My you do spoil me.”
You felt your face heat up from her teasing.
‘Crap…I gotta calm down! This is too important to get all flustered.’
You cleared your throat.
“A-Anything for my princess,” you stuttered. “Are you feeling better?”
“Much better thanks to my special somepony.”
“T-That’s good.”
As you walked over to the bedside, you could see that she could tell you were acting differently.
“Dee, is something wrong? You seem tense,” she asked.
“Oh, it’s nothing dear,” you waved it off, as you set her breakfast in front of her.
“Are you sure? You seem…well nervous about something,” she questioned, as she started eating.
“Well…there is something…”
“Yes, darling?”
As you were about to speak, you turned to her, and your voice left you. You gazed at the elegant display of beauty before you. Her stylish mane curled to perfection, the limpid pools of sapphire that was only accented by her light blue eyeshadow, her pristine white coat that seem to shine from the morning sun. You couldn’t help but marvel at how lucky you are to have such a beautiful mare in your life. To this, all you could do is give her a loving smile.
“What is it, dear? Why are you staring at me?” she said, a with a light blush.
“I was just thinking of how blessed I am to have you Rarity.”
“Oh, Dee~.”
You took her forehooves into your hands and looked deep into her eyes.
“Rarity, since I’ve been here you have shown me such kindness. You helped me when nopony else would. You offered your home to me and gave me my first job. But more importantly, you gave me your love. And for that, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to pay you back.”
You saw the tears slowly rolled down her cheek.
“Dee, I don’t know what to say,” she said a little choked up.
“Well, you could answer just one simple question.”
“Oh? And what would that be?”
You reached over to the plate and picked up a carefully folded napkin. As your mare looked at you in confusion, you revealed the hidden gift. You saw her put her hooves over her mouth as she saw what you were holding. It was a beautiful golden hoofband with three diamonds (arranged just like her Cutie Mark). You got down on one knee.
“Rarity, will you marry me?”
What happened next was a blur. A flash of white and purple was tackling the only thing you could remember. When you looked up, you could see the tears of joy flowing down.
“YES! Nothing would make me happier!” she cried.
You felt yourself starting to tear up as well.
“I feel like the luckiest man in Equestria,” you smiled.
Rarity leaned over to your ear.
“Oh, you’re about to be~,” Rarity whispered.
“Wait…what?”
Before you had time to react, you heard the bedroom door lock. You turned to the door and saw the Rarity had placed an enchantment on the door. As you were about to question her, you felt your body being lifted off the ground and flung onto the bed. You raised your head to see Rarity had teleported on top of you.
As she hovered over you, you saw the primal lust in her eyes. But there was something different this time. It wasn’t her usual lust-filled gaze. In her eyes, all you could see is her desire for you, the absolute need for you. They told you one undeniable truth…that right then she needed you.
“Dear are you ok-” you tried to ask, but were cut off by her lips.
