Forever Known
Chapter 1 - Distance
Load Full StoryThe leaves shook harshly against the wind. Dark, massive clouds rolled in from over the horizon. Twilight looked up, and with piercing eyes, stared up into the sky with wonder. Her thoughts lingered over her head like a pendulum, but she wasn't able to grasp them with a tight grip. And, as she began to lie back against the sharp blades of grass, she saw a figure in the distance.
"Rainbow," she began, "I think there's somepony here."
"Are you sure?" Rainbow said. She was trying to awake, but she was too comfortable being cuddled up to Twilight.
The dark figure began to disappear into the distance, intriguing Twilight's curiosity. She began to arise. Twilight paused, waiting for a sign for the figure to come back.
After a few minutes had passed, she began to walk towards the path the figure took.
"Rainbow, I'm going to investigate." Twilight said humbly. "Please don't leave this spot. I don't want to lose you."
Rainbow nodded.
Twilight crept through the woods they had taken shelter in the day before. She was incredibly on edge, as they were nearing a campsite where Luna had kept slaves. The air was foul, and reeked of burning flesh. The damp leaves under Twilight's hooved crunched and snapped, leaving a satisfying sound to the ear. It was almost peaceful.
Twilight looked down. She began to ponder in thought. How were they even going to find Luna? How were they going to defeat her? Even so, what were they going to do after? Tell Princess Celestia? What could she do? Many ponies, caring, innocent little ponies, lost their lives because of her. Memories, friends, and all that could make their childhood and adulthood. All gone. Opportunities, new friends, and new experiences. All of it. How could they rebuild the economy? New shops? Jobs? So many were traumatized, and some psychologically damaged. How was anypony supposed to recover? Twilight had her head spinning over the possibilities. She had so many questions that she knew wouldn't be answered.
Twilight felt warmth behind her back.
"AHHH!" Twilight yelled. She jumped back, spreading her legs to adjust her body into a fighting stance.
"Woah, Twilight, its me." Rainbow said. She didn't expect such a reaction from her.
"I told you to stay back! I don't want anything to happen to you." Twilight said quietly. She was afraid that "figure" would be near, overhearing them.
"C'mon Twilight! You can't be serious! You know how amazing and awesome I am, right?" Rainbow said, grinning.
"I don't want you to get lost, or even get hurt." Twilight said, rubbing her chin against Rainbow's. Rainbow felt a sudden jolt of warmth flow through her. And, for some odd reason, she felt something, different.
Unconsciously, Rainbow slid her lips down to Twilight's. An enclosed pleasure went through both of them, surrounding them with a giant fireball of warmth and comfort. Twilight gasped, but instead of pulling away, she continued.
A few moments passed, and all of it was amazing.
Rainbow pulled away slowly.
"I-I uhh...I don't really know-Um......" Rainbow said nervously. She blushed, illuminating the woods around them. "I don't know wh-"
"I love you too." Twilight said, brushing lightly against Rainbow's cheek.
"WORK HARDER!" Luna said loudly. Her voice shook the air around the camp. The vibrations of her loud vocals stunned everypony. "I don't have all day! Hurry up and start building!" Luna giggled.
The sheer vastness of her campsites were extraordinary. Each camp could span as long as a mile. Each building was poorly designed, and incredibly rushed. The architecture of her buildings were inadequate . Every single building would be responsible for holding at least 200 ponies captive for her own use. Barely any food or water. It was a literal hell.
At one of her building sites, Luna noticed a pony with a broken hoof. They were sobbing on the ground, leaking their tears into fertile soil. She began to walk calmly towards him.
"What do you think you're doing, my dear?" She said with a smile. "Why aren't you working?" The pony stared at her with solemn eyes. He began to sob uncontrollably.
"I-I think I broke my hoof!" He sobbed. He tried holding back his quivers just to speak clearly. "I don't know what I did, it just started to hurt! Please help me, I don't know what to do!" His tears drained down his face, and softly dripping onto Luna's hoof.
"It's alright my dear," She said with a quiet voice. "I can fix it. But on one condition: You must help finish this building by the end of the day." Luna giggled.
"Please, PLEASE!" He begged.
"You heard what I said, didn't you? In that case, maybe I can fix you're hearing as well...." She giggled.
As she walked off, she felt a cold shiver up her spine. It began to sink into her head, and she began to scream.
As she attacked the kingdom, she felt all of her power engulf her. Her laughter was sinister, and was irresistibly eerie. She was somehow devoid of all feelings, and only wanted the kingdom to rule all by herself. Once she saw her sister that day, she attempted to kill her. She wanted to be the leader. But then, she also felt awkward and lonely, but Luna didn't know why. She got weak, and was sent to the moon by the Elements of Harmony. She came back, and never knew why she felt it. But, that same revenge emotion took over her body, and she began to plan the same attack again. She stole power from her sister, allowing her to become even stronger. Celestia escaped from her sister by locking herself in one of her Crystal Safelock rooms, where she kept all of her prized and private possessions. One of them being a picture of Luna. She hid there, forever, and until time, she decided to attack Luna for what she has done. But she was not up to par- she was killed. Her sister's death was locked into Luna's mind, and was never to escape again.
As Luna began to experience this strange memory, she began to actually feel again. Some of her emotion crept and danced through her mind, making her realize what she had done.
She began to scream even louder, and almost fell over. Even so, she still stood in place. Stunned. It looked like she was trying to process all that has happened.
Luna opened her eyes, and started to cry.
