Chapter 1: getting up again
On a rainy day, a pony looked down.
On the ground it saw a puddle in the mud, a puddle filled with tears.
It turned around, full of agony, full of pain, for it would never be returned to his original state. The pony ran in the rain, it cursed the day, it cursed the night. As the pony stopped to ask itself, was it worth, was it right, it noticed a rather peculiar thing: The pony's shadow, it was gone.
Chapter 1: getting up again
It had now been 3 days, Shining Flower, a pony that had been desperate to find answers to a problem, had now become shadow-less and without a shadow, she had lost something, she didn't knew what, but she definitely was not “complete”.
She stood up, and as she slowly got out of the bed, she again noticed, that her shadow was gone. The pony got dressed, and left the house, she had to work after all.
While she was in the train, she did ask herself how this happened. 3 days ago, she cried over the loss of her dead child and suddenly she lost her shadow. For 2 days she now had hidden in her house crying more because of her dead child then her lost shadow but she realized quickly, that she shouldn't have ignored this issue.
There was no way around it, at least today.
Maddy had been such a good child, such a lovely and loving offspring, but now she was gone. Flower shed a tear, in desperation to not be seen, she hid her face behind a curtain.
She arrived.
“Good morning Miss Flower, how have you been?”, her boss asked with sympathy, although he knew the answer, he wanted to help her get up again.
As Shinning Flower replied, she felt a bit of sickness going through her veins. “I'm okay.”. That was all was her boss wanted to hear. “Some work will get you back into the daily routine.”, her boss said. With that, Shinning Flower stood up and went to her work desk. At first she was being a bit slow, but as time went on, she regained her control over her body. Maybe it is right what her boss said, she thought. She was just preparing some papers as she heard something. An employee taking his break and was talking to someone “Did you hear form this mischief of a person?” “Of course, it's such a disgrace that someone like her is still here, working in this company.”
Flower knew they were talking about glance, a co worker of hers, that would always get in trouble because anyone would blame her. Although everyone did that, and even the boss didn't took the blame serious anymore, she was still seen as an mischief, a false step in someones résumé. She was simply to naive. Flower on the other hand, had always liked glace, for that naivete, she was open to everything and just in generel a nice person. She left her office cubicle, only to see that there were no people that spoke. It was odd but it may just have been a coincidence.
A few hours later, Flower stepped out of the office. As she entered the train, she relized that she almost forgot about her lost shadow. She looked down, and still she didn't see a shadow. She had not thought about the whole shadow-less thing, all day, but now it was again getting pretty mystierious.
Suddenly a flash of memories struck her, Maddy her dead child was suddenly right before her. Flower reached her hands out to touch her, as she vanished, Flower realized that this was only a delusion. She began to cry, but this time she couldn't hide her face. “Is something wrong miss?” a child asked her. As she tried to say that everything would be fine, she again say Maddy this time the child. She flinched and as the child ran back to its seat, she regained control over her body.
She arrived.
As the sun was set, she too was home. Although there was a house waiting for here, no one was there to support her, she felt empty. It was here where she would suffer the most, so many good memories shattered by reality. She saw a magazine laying on a table, “Moving for professionals” . Glace must have left it there. After Maddys death, Glace had been given the task to look after her. She probably had left again already. After all it was not so early and she too had things to do. Flower still was
curious about this magazine although she knew why Glace left it there she thought that it perhaps was a good idea to move, after all she just had too much bad memories in this place.
She went to bed, there was nothing she would do for this day, it was over.
As she began to sleep she tried to summarize what had happened in those last few days.
Maddy died, she fell in desperation and could not do anything, Glace had looked after her, she had done a good job, it had only taken 3 days, to get her back up again. Also in all this time she has had no shadow.
What has happened anyway? How could one lose his shadow? There were just too many riddles unsolved. At least her life was getting back into the right direction, she thought. She couldn't deny it, working again was good, just ignoring all that has happened was a welcoming thing to do. She took a book, called “the adventures of Star Swirl the bearded”. She read in it until she finally slept.
