Dear Journal

The defeat of Discord sent happiness to the subject under my sister and I. I am staying at the castle in the everfree forest till Celestia rises the sun. I must confess that I am a little upset at the fact that my sister got more attention than I did, but she is older and did most of the work so it’s to be expected. Soon I can return to my dearest pupil’s side I am most joyous to say that her studies are coming along nicely, but I do worry about the spells strength if I am not present. I have been gone for two moons and I believe that Dew Drop will be getting lonely. I was wondering if I could get her a pet, a phinox like my sisters. Although my dearest sister said that would be too much to balance with her studies. I must go to lower the moon now. Fair well, dear journal.

Princess Luna

Princess Luna moaned in soar pain as she rose from her bed. The fight with Discord proved to be difficult and harsh on the mind and body.

“Luna” Celestia walked in, eyes filled with worry “If this is too much than I can raise the moon if you’d li-

“No, dear sister, I can do it. What kind of mentor would I be if I couldn’t do my duty?”

“You’re mighty proud of that filly aren’t you” Celestia said as she thought I might get an apprentice of my own someday.

“Very.” Luna replied as she raised the moon.

The next morning Luna rode her chariot home to the home of her pupil. The Fountain of Youth, thanks to a special spell of Luna’s allowing Dew Drop never to age until she is finished with her training. Walking in, she was greeted with by a little blue head and wings.

“Princess Luna! Thank goodness you’re safe!” The pegasus filly shouted as she put a necklace of flowers around her neck.

“Dew Drop?” Luna questioned “Where you, perhaps, worried about I?”

“Of course Princess.” Dew Drop tried to hide a blush, put perked up quickly “I made a feast; well, I burned a carrot cake. At least the berry tart came out nice!”

Luna chuckled at her young student, always trying so hard for her approval when she already has it. The berry tart was indeed nice and refreshing. Luna told Dew Drop of her the story of defeating Discord and wasn’t at all mad when she laughed at some of the things he did. The Princess decided that it was alright to skip one more day of learning in room of catching up. Luna felt at peace here. Dew Drop hung on every word that came out of her mouth and her eyes would twinkle like the stars when Luna talked about how she used the elements. They talked till it was time to raise the moon and change the tide.

Dew Drop looked nervous, but then again so did Luna when she first raised the moon. Moving the flow of rivers is a difficult task, especially for a Pegasus. Luna asked her if she wanted to try tomorrow when the moon’s pull wasn’t so strong but Dew refused. So Luna raised the moon and changed the tide of the oceans. All that was left were the rivers. Dew Drop took a deep breath and blew on the river, flapped her wings, and guided the water till it picked up enough speed to go on its own. She smiled and looked up at Luna with starry eyes and a bright smile that melted her heart. Luna bent down to the filly’s level and whispered into her ear.

“You might want to look at your flank.” Luna laughed out loud, something she hasn’t done in a long time, when the filly’s eyes practically doubled in size and she spun around trying to look at her cutie mark.

“I can’t see it!” She shouted. Luna than stuck out her hoof and stopped her right there.

“Then calm down and look.” And she did.

A raindrop and under it rippled water and a fine line beneath it. There it was her cutie mark that set her future in stone. She will learn to control the tide and move waters just like Luna can. Dew Drop than yawned, this was the first time she was able to move the river, that’s a big accomplishment on her part. Luna laid down on the cliff where the river starts and she would raise the moon. It was a meadow. Covered in soft grasses and the sky was clear. Dew flew over to her and laid next to her as she began to dream of giant oceans, long rivers, stars, and the moon.
