The day in the crystal kingdom had been fine since the episode with the tyrant Sombra being subdued by Cadence and Spike. The wedding wasn't brought up; on the account of the cruel and harsh treatment Cadence had suffered at the hooves of Queen Chrysalis. Shining armor sat at his desk as a crystal pony guard entered.
"Sir I have an urgent message from Princess Celestia. Your eyes only." He said curiously. Shining frowned Celestia never talked to him besides a few times but never a letter addressed to him specifically it would always be to Cadence. He lifted the letter with his magic and looked at before he opened it a spell activated and the voice of Celestia could be heard.
"State your name." He looked to the guard and waved him out to give himself privacy.
"Shining Twinkle Armor." The letter opened freely and revealed what was inside. A photo and two messages. He looked at the photo first it was a small changeling with a blue mane and eyes that had pupils. Odd considering changelings don't have them. It was wrapped up in a blanket and in a basket. The first message read as follows.
*My dear poor Shining Armor. I'm sorry to relay this to you but I've been forced into a most problematic situation. I had this young changeling delivered to me with a message I was supposed to relay to you and I don't think your new marriage would sustain the kind of blow this will deal. Come to Canterlot alone and we can deal with this. Tell Cadence it’s something to deal with the guard some paperwork or something.*
Shining’s heart fell. He didn't know what the other message read because the words still rang in his head. He looked at the other message and it was written royally and with great penmanship but the message was frank.
*My advisors say you should keep one. I don't remember what his/her name is.
-Love Queen C*
*PS. Cadence is a Skank.*
Shining couldn't remember what happened after that moment of reading because he fainted.
Shining awoke to the sound of a voice and blinking till his eyes focused on the crystal guard.
“Sir are you ok?” he asked. Shining stood up numbly and picked up the letters and pictures promptly.
“Tell Princess Cadence I’m going to Canterlot on important business that it couldn’t wait.” Shining said walking towards the door.
“Sir?” the crystal pony asked unsure. Shining turned and looked at him.
“Just do as I ask…” he said and the doors closed behind him and he brusquely walked down the corridor to his room so he could pack. He finished packing opening the door to leave he came face to face with Cadence. His heart stopped and he stood there unmoving as she frowned at him then saw his bags. Her look turned to one of surprise and confusion.
“Where are you going hunny?” she asked tilting her head.
“Oh ah…Princess Celestia asked me to visit Canterlot… something about…paperwork…” He said quickly and instantly regretted it because her eyes became suspicious.
“Shining armor…you wouldn’t hide anything from me would you? I am your wife.” She emphasized. He found himself beginning to sweat.
“Y-you know I think it has something to do with what happened at the wedding…” He said nervously and a fire erupted in the Alicorns eyes. He gulped as he smiled.
“I didn’t want you to worry so I’ll go and deal with whatever is wrong and be back before you know it.” He said trying to get by her as she looked at him full of uncertain suspicion.
“Alright…but tell me when you get there.” She said watching him as he quickly made his retreat.
He felt like several years had been taken off his life from that one experience. He waited for the train to leave the station as he sat in his seat quietly contemplating what else could go wrong now. A large commotion could be heard as he frowned and looked over his shoulder and saw Cadence walking over to him and for the second time today his heart stopped. She sat down beside him and smiled innocently.
“You almost left without saying I love you and a goodbye kiss.” She said as she kissed his cheek and was about to stand up. He felt the weight beginning to lift from his shoulders.
“I love you, I’m sorry I didn’t think.” He said laughing timidly. Cadence smiled at him and chuckled.
“You know I’ve been meaning to go to Canterlot I miss Celestia and Luna. I think I’ll accompany you.” She said sitting back down and his world seemed to become an alien planet where the air couldn’t be breathed and the pressure was like adding a hundred pounds to his body. He looked at her and forced a smile.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way…” he said shakily.
“Besides” Cadence continued “I don’t think anything could drive us apart. After all we are meant for one another. No problem to big could shake the foundations we have made especially since our wedding.” Cadence said confidently. Shining Armor hoped that was true because if he knew anything it was to fear a mare scorned and if there was anything he was more afraid of then death. It was the wrath of his new wife finding out he is a father of a child from the creature that had threatened their lives together and everything. Shining Armor looked at her as she nodded her head in resolute determination hoping she would understand. He then turned his thoughts to his other problem that was said but not directly mentioned. ‘My advisors said you should have one.’ Meaning there is more than one child spawned by him and Chrysalis. If there was anything that came out of this is Chrysalis will have a grip on Shining armor that Cadence will always see and would always loath…or so he assumed.
