Twilight Sparkle was never meant to become an alicorn. Only those born that way could truly live forever. Finding the notion of depriving Equestria of one of the greatest mares in existence, Princess Celestia decides to try and change Twilight herself. The spell works, but only to a certain degree. The price of which, not all are willing to pay.

Above all else, Twilight Sparkle must not die.
