Chapter 1: Fluttershy

On a grassy hill near the Everfree Forest laid a cozy little cottage filled with blissful critters of all shapes and sizes. The owner was a buttercream yellow pegasus with soft pink hair named Fluttershy. She was a kind mare, in fact she was practically kindness made flesh. Every creature in Equestia knew of her kindness and there were none who would wish to harm her.

Until today.

“No! This is my home! You can not take it away from me!” the angered mare shouted.

“Listen, my dear, you signed an agreement stating we own the land,” a unicorn with pinstripes explained, “This land is our land. Fair and square.”

Flim and Flam stole the rights to Fluttershy’s home. By means of shoving her in a novelty sized ink bottle and placing a paper under her step. Fluttershy, by all accounts, did not in fact agreed to anything.

“I did no such thing and you know it!”

“That’s not what the paper says,” Flam cooed, “Now please go away, we have to bulldoze this dump by tonight!”

Fluttershy sat firmly in her house. Angel, her pet rabbit, hopped in front of her to glare at the twin stallions. Despite its effectiveness against monsters, the stare had no effect on Flim and Flam. Angel eventually hopped up to Flam and kicked his nose.

“Oooh, you want to fight little bunny?” he asked sarcastically, “I think he wants to fight Flim.”

“Then let’s give him a little fight,” Flim chuckled as he pulled out a knife, “This is going to be easy.”

Fluttershy growled as she glanced at Angel. Said rabbit pointed to an old photo of Iron Will. Despite being the near personification of kindness itself, Fluttershy’s anger often took the best of her. From arguments with her friends to being pushed aside one too many times she would snap and let her full fury out. Normally she would withhold her rage. Today was not a normal day so why should she be.

“When life gives you lemons,” she whispered, “GET MAD!” her voice boomed as a hoof implanted itself into Flim’s jaw.

Round 1

“That was a cheap move!” Flam barked.

A sudden tickle met his hoof. Looking down he saw Angel hugged tightly around the base of his front leg. The sensation of paralysis left him confused.

“GET OVER HERE!” Fluttershy commanded.

Angel threw Flam right to Fluttershy who performed an uppercut on the unfortunate stallion. She wasn’t done with him yet. Once Flam touched the ground, Fluttershy unleashed a flurry of kicked that sent him hurling out the door. With one foe defeated she turned to Flim.

The strange stallion had curled into a ball, levitated for a brief moment, and flung himself to her. This only proved to be an annoyance more than an actual attack.

It took Fluttershy a mere two seconds to finish off the stallion with one kick to the leg.

Round 2

Flam kicked the door back to the room. A thick stretchy rope latched onto  Fluttershy. Similar to how Applejack roped Rainbow. Flam slammed her to the ceiling and the floor twice before releasing his grip. Fluttershy jumped up and pounced on him.

“You don’t give up do you?”

Fluttershy kneed him in the face, knocking him out for good.

A stray knife Flew past Fluttershy’s face. She felt a small cut and noticed a tiny trickle of blood. With red eyes she turned to Flim. The knife returned cutting the other side of her face.

“Boomerang knives!” Flim announced with joy, “One throw is all it take to cut you up to pieces.”

“Get out now and I won’t hurt you,” Fluttershy kindly ordered.

“Ha! Like you can do anything,” Flim laughed as he threw both of his knives.

True to her word, Fluttershy beat him to a bloody pulp. The knives did return but were easily deflected by her wings. They were truly poorly made with the cheapest metal available.

“Darling whatever are you doing?” a familiar voice called.

“Rarity?”

A white unicorn with curly purple mane and tail trotted to Flim and Flam, “Poor dears,” she cuddled Flim’s head, “What brute would do this to you?”

Fluttershy’s mouth gaped open. Shocked to see her friend treat a long hated foe with care.

Rarity glanced up with a glare, “Darling I thought we agreed to this?”

“What?! We never talked about Flim and Flam!”

“No, not Flim and Flam,” Rarity pouted, “You agreed to let me use your land for a bigger store.”

Fluttershy tried to remember their previous spa meetings. She recalled no instance of talking about any store with Rarity. They mainly gossiped about strange events and rumors. The closest Rarity came to talking about her store was about a recent client wanting dark red silk robes. The overall design he requested was bizarre.

“Very well,” Rarity huffed, “Perhaps I will jog your memory.”

Round 1

Rarity unleashed a torrent of ice at Fluttershy. Freezing her for a short moment. Rarity took this chance to dive kick her.

The frost shattered off of Fluttershy. Now that she could move freely, Fluttershy swept Rarity’s legs.

In retaliation, Rarity rushed to Fluttershy while making a trail of ice. The take down overpowered Fluttershy. Rarity finished off with a swift kick to the face.

Not easily taken out, Fluttershy shoved Rarity off her. A flurry of kicks caused the unicorn to stumble over a chair. With an opportunity open Fluttershy gave Rarity a kick so hard it knocked her down. Fluttershy swiftly flew over her and slammed her hooves into Rarity’s chest.

Rarity coughed up blood.

Getting up for a final strike, Rarity flung an icy ball towards Fluttershy. Fluttershy held up her wings. For a strange reason this made the ball melt off her feathers.

Rarity growled as she prepared her next spell.

Fluttershy denied her the action with a powerful kick, sending her friend out the window.

Round 2

As Fluttershy started to walk away she was caught in a purplish aura. She was forcefully dragged through the window, out to her yard. Rarity, with rage filled eyes, roared at her friend.

Fluttershy flew to Rarity, knocking her square in the jaw.

“Such brutish behavior,” Rarity grumbled, “You developed an attitude akin to your animals!”

Fluttershy fumed at that remark, “Leave my animals out of this!” she shouted as she threw Angel.

The ferocious rodent clung to Rarity and dragged her back to Fluttershy. Fluttershy uppercut her across the yard. Flying to her side, Fluttershy wrapped her legs around Rarity and crushed her to the ground.

Rarity chuckled with a wheeze, “My you are angry aren’t you?” she shot a cold beam over Fluttershy, “You should really cool off.”

Fluttershy could not move. Rarity merely cackled as she gloated.

“You know… I was going to make a fenced in area so ponies could have a better view of your little critters.”

Fluttershy relaxed a little, still steamed about loosing her home.

“But now I think it’d be better if I make fur coats out of them!”

Fluttershy snapped. In a fit of rage she burst out of her cold prison. She pummeled Rarity until her face was bruised and bloody. However she wasn’t finished. Fluttershy grabbed Rarity by the throat and dragged her through the grass to the side of her cottage.

“Seems you’re burning with rage,” Rarity observed, “I’ll be sure to put those fur coats on the front window display.”

Fluttershy screeched in fury as she blindly planted her hooves firmly in an ice clone. The ice quickly spread across her. She struggled in vain until it completely encased her.

“I should thank you for this exercise,” Rarity whispered into Fluttershy’s ear, “After all, isn’t that what good friends are for?”

For a final time, Fluttershy shattered the ice and attacked Rarity.

“I AM NO LONGER YOUR FRIEND!” she roared as she threw Angel.

Rarity snagged him in her telekinetic grip, “Well then…” she examined the rabbit, “…If we’re not friends than it shouldn’t matter what I do with this rabbit you gave me.”

Fluttershy’s eyes widened, “YOU WOULDN’T DARE.”

“First of the line,” Rarity grinned as she created an icy dagger. She used the cold weapon to swiftly skin Angel in front of Fluttershy.

“I WILL FEED YOU TO THE FERETS!” Fluttershy lunged at Rarity only to crash into another ice clone. Ice encasing her one more time.

“Freeze!” Rarity unleashed a cold beam, freezing her ex-friend even more.

“That should keep you in one spot.”

Flim and Flam tumbled out with a moan and sigh. They noticed Rarity and her frozen friend against the wall of the cottage.

“Ah just in time to see the finale,” Rarity sang. She encased her icy dagger with more ice to form a sword. Gazing into her ex-friend’s eyes with a smile she drove the sword through her, “No hard feelings darling… just business.”

Rarity walked away with glowing green and purple eyes, “Bulldoze this entire area. Make sure nothing will be able to live here.”

“What about your friend over there?” Flam asked.

Rarity glanced to the pegasus shaped ice sculpture, “What friend?” she scoffed as she disappeared from Flim’s and Flam’s vision.

Flam and Flam smiled as they began setting up the construction of a new store and destruction of the old cottage.

Later that night

The area around the cottage was nothing but wasteland now. All plants and animals fled. Even the cottage itself was condemned. Flim and Flam left their construction equipment lying around. Absolute disregard for what was there, forced to watch the land be torn apart.

The ice cold statue of Fluttershy remained. Although the body was dead, the soul of the enraged pegasus stayed. Once filled with kindness, now only spite and hate remained. She felt anger for being unable to do anything. Anger for the ones who destroyed her home. Most of all she felt anger for the no longer friend that betrayed and murdered her.

A shadowy figure with hazy purple and green glow manifested in front of her.

“Poor Fluttershy,” the figure said, “What hath kindness brought you?”

Fluttershy could not answer. She was frozen within the corpse. A curse Rarity must’ve place upon her.

“Despite your pureness and incredible tolerance your reward for all that pain is death,” the figure sorrowfully said.

His horn glowed a menacing purple and green. Suddenly the ice melted away to free Fluttershy. The corpse flopped to the ground but her soul projected in its place. A confused stare was the only reply the figure received for his action.

“You know me, do you not?”

“King Sombra,” Fluttershy’s soul stated with confusion and fear, “I saw you be torn apart by the crystal light.”

Sombra laughed, “Yes it was a rather unpleasant experience,” he coughed to repress his laughter, “And I was killed, murdered, obliterated, whatever you wish to call it.”

“B-But how are you here?”

“I serve a being more powerful than the royal sister and Discord combined.”

Fluttershy shifted, feeling uncomfortable at his presence, “Than what is it you w-want with me… If you don’t mind me asking?”

Sombra shook his head, “You retain your namesake for too well. What I wish is to give you the opportunity to reap your vengeance.”

Fluttershy quirked her eye brow, “I already lost everything,” her eyes began to swell with tears,”My home, my animals, my life, even Angel!”

Fluttershy slammed her hoof through the floor, “FORCED TO WATCH IT ALL, UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING!” she let her tears flow freely now, “ALL BECAUSE THAT STUCK UP BITCH WAS TOO GREEDY! ELEMENT OF GENEROSITY? BULL SHIT! WHEN I SEE HER SHE’LL BE BEGGING FOR ME TO KILL HER!”

Sombra grinned, “Than you accept my offer?”

Fluttershy snapped back to her normal self, “I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me,” she bowed her head to the ground, “I don’t want to do anything without Angel…”

Sombra’s horn glowed a hazy purple. The skeleton of a rabbit rose from the ground. Flames engulfed the rodent’s bones. A raging fire roared through its bucked teeth. The new form was frightening and cute.

“A-A-Angel?” Fluttershy could barely comprehend what she witnessed. Before her stood a demonic rabbit with the cuteness of her beloved pet.

“My master taught me many tricks,” Sombra boasted, “I can grant you the power over the fires of Tartarus and bound you to your pet so he will forever be by your side. You might even be able to use him as a weapon.”

Angel hopped to Fluttershy, looking up with pleading eyes.

A short moment of thinking later, Fluttershy nodded her head in agreement.

“Excellent,” Sombra grinned with glowing eyes.

Fluttershy felt her soul get sucked into her corpse.

Pain… Pain was all she felt. Like venom, flames of hell fire flowed through her entire being. A sting of hate and rage caused her to scream. The flames melted her flesh away from her bones. She felt her skin tear off, her hair sear away, even her brain smoked out through her skull. All for her now disintegrated eyes to view. As if the pain of the fire wasn’t enough, spiky cains erupted from the ground. The chains wrapped themselves in Fluttershy and Angel, binding them for good. Angel was blown apart to make the shape of a spear like weapon upon Fluttershy’s front hooves. The transformation was almost complete.

The memory of Rarity flooded her mind. From the beginning of their friendship to their spa meetings, the adventures they had with the other, and all the lessons they learned. Ended with the final memory of Rarity killing her and forcing her to watch her home be destroyed.

Somber smiled at his work, “How do you feel, Fluttershy?”

The memory stained her mind. Every single detail played before her. The pain of betrayal shivered her entire being. As golden armor molded around her with black obsidian, the thought of making Rarity suffer became her only desire. A sting of venomous hate and anger was all that was left of Fluttershy.

A sting like a scorpion.

She instantly became fond of that word. No longer was she the timid pegasus that everyone pushed around. She was no longer the kind mare of Ponyville. She was Scorpion! The wraith of vengeance! Her sting of hate will be the end of all who invoke her wrath.

“I feel like a new mare, Sombra,” she stepped forward in her new form.

Scorpion looked like Fluttershy only with black and gold armor resembling a ninja’s outfit. Scorpion themed decor ran along her new outfit. Angel became a pair of gauntlets that appeared to be skulls projecting spears. Even her mane and tail changed from soft pink to a menacing dark pink with black highlights. This was not Fluttershy anymore… and she loved it.

“In fact, I think I’ll go by a new name,” she looked at Sombra with her blank white eyes, “Call me Scorpion!”

Meanwhile at

Twilight’s Palace

Twilight woke with a jolt, “Spike! Did you feel that?”

Her number one assistant shivered, “Yeah, I feel something alright.”

Twilight jumped out of bed and ran to the Elements of Harmony, “Oh no…” inside the display case laid all six element in their respective places. Except Kindness, which was shattered into a fine powdery dust.

“That’s not good, is it?” Spike asked with incredible fear.

“It’s… the… worst… possible… thing…” Twilight whispered before fainting.

Canterlot

Celestia jolted awake. Beads of sweat drenched her. A memory of a forgotten enemy had resurfaced in the worst way possible.

Luna burst through the doors of her bedroom. Not bothering to say anything, she hugged her sister and trembled.

“It seems the time has come,” Celestia quivered, “Mortal Kombat is upon us.”

“You can not expect the chosen to fair in this battle!”

“I fear we will have to.”

“Than we shall intervene!” Luna gave her sister begging eyes.

“If we can,” Celestia’s voice became sore as if she swallowed a golf ball, “The rules are a chaotic as Discord, whom I hope will remain an ally, and we will need any and all ponies who are willing to fight.”

“We lost kindness,” Luna pointed out, “Should any of the other fall…”

Celestia lifted her head, “We will find a way.”

The two sisters gazed at the moon one last time.

“If it does come to that many will fall,” Luna whispered.
