Laying down on the table, I watched as SUPERIOR1 wired my arm up to their computer, and began tapping on the keyboard. My head slowly turned, and I began to examine the dark room I was in, and my HUD began to register certain things such as the faces of the people infront of me, the names SUPERIOR 1-4 coming up to the individuals. They rolled in another computer, and I quickly registered the model, and what specifications hid inside it. The figures standing around me smiled and looked at eachother, conversating about what I could only figure was me, before putting an apple in one of my hands. Out of nowhere my hand was balled into a fist, and the apple was crushed, pieces and juice covering me. Small chuckles were heard from the four. SUPERIOR 1 looked up from the computer, then at the others, and they all nodded. SUPERIOR1 typed in a command, and I gained full control of my mechanical body. Programmed to serve, I moved my feet a little, I slided them off the table and sat up, my legs barely reaching to the ground. The man registered as SUPERIOR 1, that previously was typing on the computer, was now infront of me. My HUD zoomed in on him, scanning him and having it refer to him as my founder. His name was quickly overwrited from SUPERIOR1 to Saruwatari Janu. The founder of Neoari Industries. He was a asian man, in his late sixties, and it showed. His hair was completely white, and a large amount of wrinkles showed on his face. He was also extremely short, being only 5 feet tall, compared to mechas he made, like me, whom were almost two feet taller than him. I was to take any and all commands from him.
"Good," He said in Japanese, keeping a emotionless expression on his face. "Your name from now on is GPJ5338, or as Neorai Industries and our supporters have come to call you, Tyr. Is that understood?," He asked me, lifting his eyebrows slightly.
"Acknowledged," I said in my raspy and muffled voice, not actually having a say in the matter. Seeming satisfied with my answer, he turned to one of the men surrounding me.
"Bairei!" He yelled, making the man jump. Slowly, he lifted his arm and pointed at the computer. "Run the program you and your colleagues have been working on. This is the sixth try you've had this month. Do not dissapoint me, or the audience. The once dark room was filled with light, and what I thought was walls rolled away and revealed a massive crowd of people. They all gasped upon looking at me. Before they could talk, I had registered all of their faces and had all their personal info. That data was transfered to the computer I was still hooked up to. Saruwatari grinned, and turned to the crowd.
"Here you are!" He yelled in English with a accent, pointing at me. "The Neo Keisatsu R-Type. The most advanced mecha in the Keisatsu series. You do not know it yet, but you are all a part of the early on training this mecha is going through. It has already scanned and registered all of your faces in it's hard drive. When those curtains where removed, it scanned your faces, and now knows your background, name and, if you have one, military ranking.". Saruwatari was right, alot of people with military backgrounds were present in the room, from all kinds of nations.
"You will now witness as one of my workers, Bairei Hirotsugu further improves this masterpiece with technology the likes you've never seen before!", He continued, pointing at the man named Bairei, and then at the computer. Bairei obeyed, and walked up to the computer with a flash drive in his hand, sticking it in the computer and opening the file. As he did, you could hear the people in the crowd begin to whisper to eachother, either shaking or nodding their heads. One of the people standing next to me grabbed a towel and wiped off the remains of the apple I crushed. Looking over at Bairei, I saw he was moving a file that was named "HM.exe to my directory, and then looked at me, then at Saruwatari, nodding. Saruwatari walked up to the computer and looked at the file, nodding in approval before speaking up.
"Chimaira. Open up your directory and find "HM.exe", then launch it, no matter what warnings may show up." Saruwatari ordered.
"Acknowledged," I replied in a lifeless tone. "Opening HM.exe, allowing it to run at Administrator mode".
"Wait, what did you say it was called?," Bairei whispered to Saruwatari, completely audible for me.
"HM, you idiot. You were the one that named it.", Saruwatari answered, in his calm tone.
"Oh, shit. NO!", Bairei screamed in Japanese, shocking the whole crowd. He darted for the computer to delete the program, but saw that the program was already launched and was resetting my system right now. As if his life fell in shambles, he fell on his knees, shakingly starting to beg to Saruwatari.
"Please, Saruwatari, don't blame me. I didn't mean to.. I..", Bairei wimpered, Saruwatari not sounding pleased..
"You.. Fucking.. Worthless. WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Saruwatari yelled at the top of his lungs.
"I DID IT AT MY FREE TIME, I PROMISE, IT DIDN'T MEAN IT," Bairei cried out, tears streaming down his face, not seeming answer Saruwatari at all, scared out of his mind.
Out of nowhere, my vision turned black and all I could see were three cyan dots blinking. After some minutes of this, a box showed up, displaying "SUCCESSFUL INSTALL, REBOOT. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD". A distant echo of crying could be heard, and I slowly regained my senses.
With a spasm, I woke up, hearing Bairei crying and screaming, laying in a fetal position as Saruwatari was kicking him mercilessly.
"Wha- What the.." I stuttered. A sensation flowing through my body. Something.. Something was wrong.. What was I feeling? Feeling?! I shouldn't feel anything.. I looked down at my hands, trying to understand what was happening to me. I noticed Saruwatari had stopped kicking Baireri, and slowly turned to me.
"What did you do to my Mecha?.." Saruwatari whispered, still looking at me.
"I-I, It was a couple of my friends.. And me, we liked to get together and make our own programs.. Once we made came up with the idea of making a program that'd let mechas... Become self aware.", Bairei said between his sobs. "Please, please don't kick me again..," He begged.
I tried to stand up, confused out of my mind, but as soon as I did, Saruwatari kicked me in my faceplate, making me fall down again. I didn't feel pain, but I felt something.. Alot worse. Betrayed.
"W-Wait.. Saruwatari?! You have to help me! This isn't right.. This is not.. I don't.. Put me back the way I was!", I begged, in an fluid american accent, grabbing my head.
Sitting down infront of me, he shook his head and spoke in his broken English. "Not anymore.," He said, gritting his teeth. "SECURITY! DETAIN THE PROJECT CHIMAIRA! DUMP HIM WITH THE OTHER FAILED EXPERIMENTS!" I tried to resist, but Saruwatari waved me off. Multiple mechs rushed out from a door and grabbed me. They all tried to grab me by my arms, but I slammed my fist into one of it's faceplates, breaking it completely and kicking another one of them. Two other rushed out of the door, like they knew the first two were destroyed. I tried to fight them off, but it for every one I destroyed, two would replace them. No matter how strong and combat compatible I was, they eventually pushed me down on the ground, used a taser to paralyze me momentarily and grabbed me by my arms and legs.
"GET THE FUCK OFF OF ME!! PUT ME BACK THE WAY I WAS! SARUWATARI! BAIREI! I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE THIS!," I screamed in vain. I took a last look at the crowd, seeing only terrified faces, or empty seats. Giving in, I let the mechas drag me into a room where other mechas waited for me. One human operator walked up to me, with visible in his face. He looked down at where the lock to my power supply was, got out a key and opened it, and ripped it out. I was deactivated.
I sparked to life. Shaking my head, I shook head furiously, trying to get the dust on it off. Infront of me was the man from the show, Bairei, but with bandaids covering his face and swollen eyes, was holding holding his index finger over his mouth, signaling me to be quiet. I nodded once, and looked down at the ground, pretending to be deactivated. Bairei backed up, and looked to his left, towards a hall. The interior reminded me of a big hangar, and I could hear the sound of the sea, making me worry. Then I heard the sound of my owner. Samuwarati. Clenching my fists, I thought of what he had said, feeling the same feeling in my chest as I did back at the stage. Hearing Bairei gasp and take a step back, Saruwatari spoke up.
"What are you doing here?", Saruwatari asked him, walking up to me and examining me. "You have already destroyed years of work, and you're fired. Get out of here before I sue you aswell." He warned, and I could hear Bairei walk away.
"You were going to be perfect... More powerful than everything that I've created together.", Saruwatari said, sighing deeply. Out from the dark appeared a couple of machines, and stood by Saruwataris' sides.
"What shall we do with him, Superior?", One asked.
"Get it's pod and recharging bay, all weapons that it tried, and any computer that he was wired up to. Everything that had to do with it, dump it into the pod with it and throw it into the sea," Hearing that, I tried to resist, but only managed move the stand I was stuck in, and slowly but surely began to make my way to the ground. As gravity failed me, I hit the ground face first, making Saruwatari jump in surprise. Chuckling to himself, he looked at his mechas.
"Get it done," He said before walking off.
The robots looked at him before nodding and saluting, grabbing me by my arms and dragging me to my pod. I remember waking up in it first, when I got first activated. The pod was decent size, with a recharge bay, and a weapon rack. It was standard issue, and given to all mechas that went out for field battle. The problem was, the pod was attached to the mecha that lived in it, that meaning, if one went rogue, or got killed, it all had to be destroyed with them. It had limited Neorai Industries from making more advanced mechas, but for some reason, they had refused to produce the mecha's without them.
The two mechas removed me from the stand and threw me into my pod, and walked off to get my weapons. Attempting to get up, I was forced to fall limp as they got back with the weapons filled in a duffle bag. They threw it in, and closed the door to my pod. I brought myself to my feet, and tinted the windows to my pod, rubbing my faceplate.
"What the fuck happened to me?..", I asked outloud to noone in particular, shaking my head. I had clearly become self aware by that file, but how? That Bairei had to be a genious to do that. Mechas were not even built to be self aware! How did Bairei and a couple of his friends just make it possible for me to think and feel like a human?
My thoughts were interupted by a awful noice. I disabled the tint and hid behind a locker, peeking out through a window. I was twenty feet above the air. A pair of magnets had stuck ontop of my pod, and was relocating me. I moved away from my cover. Noone would see or care if I was activated now, would they? I could only watch as the helicopter began to fly out towards the sea. The hangar I was in flew further and further away from the hangar, and soon enough I couldn't see it. The helicopter began to hover, and I looked up at the roof of my pod, tilting my head.
"So, are you going to do someth-" I got interupted as the magnets released it's grip of my pod, and I began to fall, feeling myself falling. My pod took the majority of the beating as I hit the water, but I could see that my HUD slightly flickered, which meant it had to be pretty hard. As I sank lower and lower to the oceans bottom, I slowly got myself up standing. The Pod wasn't leaking, surprisingly. Panicking, I looked around me, gripping my head as I yelled at as loud as I can, feeling something unnatural inside of me.. It was uncomfortable. Slowly calming myself down, I looked out the window and rested my head against the glass, the sharp feeling in my chest still aching.
About an good thirty minutes later.
After finally calming down, I had watched my descent and scanned fishes swimming by the window, making my chuckle.
Out of the darkness, I saw the bottom closing in, and I widened my eyes.
"Holy.. Shit.." I whispered, as I witnessed the massive graveyard. They hadn't just dropped me at a random spot. Old robots that rested here here. Old Japanese clothes, chests, skeletons.. I saw some of the earliest IL models simply dumped at the bottom. When I began to close in to hitting the bottom, I noticed that I was closing in on a ship wreck that surely was a good thousand years old. Shit. I was hitting it.
I grabbed a sturdy hold of a nearby locker, and embrased myself for impact.
As I hit it, debris flew around me and the pod penetrated the rotten wood with ease. Falling forward, I fell face first into the floor, shaking my head. As the pod hit the ground, I got up. Looking outside the windows, I realized my pod was inside the ship. It was filled with jewelries and ancient items I never even knew existed before. As I leaned forward onto the window, my pod began to roll slide towards the artifacts. I saw jewelry get pushed out of the way until it stopped infront of a black necklace, that had the resemblance of a unicorn with wings. It had red gems on its' wings, eyes and horn, and glowing. Wait, what?.. It was glowing... And increasingly so.
Backing up slightly, I thought it was some old gunpowder or something that was going to hit the glass and drown me. A red aurora began to surround the pod, I could hear the pod creaking in missery.
