It was like an uncrystalized version of the Crystal Empire. There was a big castle in the center. Celestia and Luna showed no fear as they crept up to the castle. Celestia as worried for Twilight, though not for herself. She had faced Sombra twice now and lived to tell the tale. Luna was intent on her mission, though part of her wanted vengance on Sombra. He had made Celestia cry, many years ago. And he probably had something to do with her mother's dissappearence, and her years of trials with her sister. She had so many questions about her past, yet not one answer. They arrived at the castle. Celestia motioned for them to fly over the wall. Luna nodded. It was a mistake. On the other side of the wall was a big courtyard. Just behind where Luna had landed was a three-headed dog! Celesta shoved Luna out of the way, though getting a deep scratch from the dog in return. She yelled out in pain. "No one hurts my sister and gets away with it!" snarled Luna. She poised herself for combat, shielding Celestia, who was bearly consious. Suddenly, the mongral pounced. Luna easily dodged. She noticed a spear leaning against the wall. "Perfect," she mutterd. Carefully avoiding the spear, she the took a step back. She did not want the dog to realize what was happening until it was too late. She was almost at the spear when the three-headed dog changed direction. It lunged at Celestia. Luna had no choice. She used her magic to pick up the spear, and killed the beast. A single spell was all it took to attract Sombra's attention. A magic cage apeared as Luna jumped towards Celestia. The two were trapped, held fast by the bars. They both knew that magic would be usless and that this might be their chance to find Twilight. Suddenly, the air around them grew hotter; Twilight's tempature had gone up. Luna was placed in an empty room, with no windows. A door opend and in came Sombra. "What have your done with my sister?!" roared Luna. "Temper, temper. "I was guilty of hatred towards her, but I have forgiven her, and she has graciously forgiven me of all my wrongdoings. We love each other as sisters should." "But aren't you jealous? Your sister gets all the praise and attention, while everypony is scared of Nightmare Moon's return? If you joined me, you would be adored by them all. All hail the Princess and King!" Sombra's words tempted her. For a moment, she entertained the idea of casting her lot with him. But then, she remembered. She remembered the tears in Celestia's eyes the night that she had been banished. She remembered the cold, desolate years on the moon. And she remembered Celestia's loving embrace when she had once more returned to her true form. "Once, I would have joined you in the blink of an eye. I've gone down the road you now tempt me to join, and all it leads to is pain. I have learned a harsh lesson, and I will never join you. You could promise me Equestria, galaxies and even the entire universe, and your words would still mean nothing. I am not the bitter mare I once was, and I refuse to become her again. Chaper 8They ran. Sombra was coming through the air vent, furiouse and fast. Twilight, Celestia and Luna dashed out of the bathroom, and found themselves in a hall way. So did Elestia and Twilight. A foul stench reached there noses. It made Twilight think of cheese, rotten eggs and bana flavourng (wich is disusting by the way). "That is no5 good," said Celestia. Una ghasped, "You don't meen," "I do sister" Twilight loked at Celestia and Luna, confused. Black furry har ball suddenly poped out of nowhere, infront of the statue. "No," Twilight muttrd. She had read about these. They were Stinka-grice. Vey hairy, very powerful, and extremely smelly. Twilight lept into the air, despite her fatigue. Unfortunatly the whole hl was full of them. It wold be usless to fight.. Twilight sighed, and joined Celestia and Luna, who were standing togethe, surrounded. At leat these Stinka-grice moved slowly, giving them the chance to catch theyr breath. A milion thougts seemed to be racing through Twilights head at once. Wher were they going? Probably to find sombra se guessed. What would happen when they got there? Would they fight? but what about the stinka-grice? Maybe sombra woul not let them near him. Or would they talk to him? Supposing they were not being taken to sombra, but to there cellw. could they escap a second time? "Ookaay," Luna still did not know what to think of pinkie pie. "Uh, girls, I hate to interupt your conversation, but there is an opening over there into a room," pointed out Celestia. They shufled carefully to the opening. Celestia fel out of ungarciously, dropping her crown. Twilight toppled out next narrowly missing Celestia. Luna was not quite so lucky. She fel straight onto Celestia. "well at least you make a soft cusion Tia." said Luna pkayfully. "But you are heavy these days said Celestia,"I havent had to catch you in a long time," "oh said Twilight, finaly realising where they were. Luna giggld" Well at least there is a lock" They were in the bathroom. It was a big bathroom, all white qnd silver. It was oddly clean. Almost to clean. Thoug nopony noiced, a long green tenticul, that came out of the toilet, was slowly rapping tself round Luna's back legs. Suddenly it yanked, tying to pull her into the itolet! Lluna screamed. Making both Twilight and Celestia jump. Celestia was the first to react, grabbing Luna and stopping her from being draged. Twlight folowe Celestia's lead, and grabbed Luna's other forleg. Luna's breathing greatly quickend as she tried jot to scream again. It felt lie she was being puled apart. But maybe they were gaining on the creature. just a liytle. Twlight suddenly realised how much they were hurting luna, the more they puled. So she swched to pulling the mostr, celestia copid her. Celestia grabbed s scrubbing brush. When the monsters head apeared, she wcks him. iT releses luna. Luna staredted to cry into celestia's embrace, while Celestia comforts her. Lua has octopus-phobia. Sudenely, They herared somba through vent, cross as they were no longer in prisoned. "We should probably run now," said Twilight. "We should" agred luna, pulling herself together. They ran.
Chaper 8They ran. Sombra was coming through the air vent, furiouse and fast. Twilight, Celestia and Luna dashed out of the bathroom, and found themselves in a hall way. Flying would not give them an advantage. Luna was the fastess, so she lead the way. Celestia was right behind her, but Twilight was having difficulty keeping the pace. "P, h, h, lease, h,h, slow, h,h, a, h,h, bit,hh, " panted Twilight. Luna looked behind them. Sombra was ot of sight, but stil chasing. "Statue!"shoute luna, and they all lept behind it. A few secondes later, Sombra passed them, whithou stopping. "Whats the plan then?" little beads of sweat poured down Twilights foread. "We fight-"Luna wrincalled her nose. So did Elestia and Twilight. A foul stench reached there noses. It made Twilight think of cheese, rotten eggs and bana flavourng (wich is disusting by the way). "That is no5 good," said Celestia. Una ghasped, "You don't meen," "I do sister" Twilight loked at Celestia and Luna, confused. Black furry har ball suddenly poped out of nowhere, infront of the statue. "No," Twilight muttrd. She had read about these. They were Stinka-grice. Vey hairy, very powerful, and extremely smelly. Twilight lept into the air, despite her fatigue. Unfortunatly the whole hl was full of them. It wold be usless to fight.. Twilight sighed, and joined Celestia and Luna, who were standing togethe, surrounded. At leat these Stinka-grice moved slowly, giving them the chance to catch theyr breath. A milion thougts seemed to be racing through Twilights head at once. Wher were they going? Probably to find sombra se guessed. What would happen when they got there? Would they fight? but what about the stinka-grice? Maybe sombra woul not let them near him. Or would they talk to him? Supposing they were not being taken to sombra, but to there cellw. could they escap a second time?
Chapter 1//------------------------------// // Chapter 1// Story: Twilights nightmare// by mimnim//------------------------------// Prologue Not so long before this story was written, a young lavender mare named Twilight Sparkle had become a princess. Not so long before that, Twilight had saved the crystal empire from king Sombra. Unfortunatly, though she did not know it, Sombra had cast a nightmare spell on her. Perhaps it was the battle wth Tirek, or the relief of having her friends back, but in any case the spell started to work. ...........end of prologue........... Luna tried to cast a spell, yet again, before stamping her hoof in frustration. Somewhere, somepony was suffering from some sort of horrible nightmare, yet Luna could not locate them. It was an unusual nightmare as well. It was... different. Luna heard some footsteps, footsteps that she would always recognize, behind her. "What's wrong, Tia? Can't you sleep?" Luna tried again to cast her spell. "What are you doing Luna?" Celestial asked. "Trying to locate an odd nightmare." "Ah..." "Tia?" "I think I know where it is," Celestia sighed. "Huh?" "I have just recieved a letter-" "From Twilight?" Interrupted Luna. "No, from spike. Apparently he can't wake Twilight up, and she seems to be having a nightmare." "Then we must go at once! This is no ordinary nightmare." Luna spread out her wings, and flew down to the court yard. "Coming Tia?" "Of course!"/

"Princess Luna?!" said a familiar voice. "Luna, can you hear me?" "Mm hm, yes Twilight," said Luna softly, as her vision cleared she could make out a lavender alicorn leaning over her. "Where is Tia?" asked Luna. "Who?" "Tia, uh, Celestia?" "Oh, she's in another cell over there, right by a window." Luna went over to look, through the bars she could see Celestia lying rigidly on the foor. Luna began to laugh softly to herself. Twilight looked at Luna, perplexed. As far as she could tell, Celestia was in great pain. Noticing Twilight's look, Luna pointed something out. "Twilight, this glass is not sound proof, yet it appears Celestia is silent. That is not Celestia. It is a low power projection, using so little magic that I doubt Sombra could sense it." "Well, we will have to wait for ages now," said Twilight. "Why is that, my dear pony?" asked Luna. "If you add up the time it takes for her to fly to the castle, assemble an army,-" "Twilight, we are in your head. The only way for you to escape is to defeat Sombra. Well, sort of." "Wait, you mean to say that I'm under a forbidden Nikagrouse spell? How in Equestria did Sombra manage to harness the power to do that? And why is it happening now, instead of right after I defeated Sombra?" "Your love for others protected you, but the Tirek incident took its toll. The other question is better left un-answered," There was a momentary silence before Twilight asked Luna how she knew about how much Tirek had frightened her. Luna paused before she spoke, "You have been having an extraordinary amount of nightmares recently. Most of them had to do with him." Suddenly they heard a clang and a "bother!" from above them. Then a chunk of the ceiling came down with Celestia on top of it. Celestia picked up her crown, and put it back on top of her head. "Luna, remind me to never wear my crown when we are going on a rescue mission. It always falls off at odd moments when I can't put it back on." Noticing her friend for the first time, she shouted, "Twilight!" Celestia was extremely relieved to find her friend unharmed. "Later Tia we need to talk. I have many questions about our past yet not one answer. I want the whole story, and Twiligt has more than earned the right to hear it," Luna's voice was firm. "Okay," was Celestia's reply. Twilight felt that now was not a good time to say something. So she waited a few minutes.
