Prologue

Raul is tired. Like, really, really, really tired. He has been walking for a straight seven hours, while wearing a combined forty five pounds of gear. That forty-sum pounds of gear consisted of Riot Gear, a gift from the Boss, colloquially know as The Courier, a special 10mm Sub-Machinegun named 'Sleepytime', a Riot Shotgun with beanbag shells and his ever-so-trusty .44 Magnum Revolver.

He had a Bowie Knife, too, but like Cass said, 'It's for practical reasons.'

"Hey Boss, can we hold up for a sec? My knees might shatter any second." He groaned, fatigue threatening to make him collapse. The Courier, looked at Raul to 'pucker up' but saw the state of the old Ghoul.

"Okay, I'm pretty tired too." She said as she plopped a dufflebag onto the ground and sat down, Raul following suit. The Courier removed her Elite Riot Gear helmet, letting her loose, blonde hair fall over her face. Her hand swiped at her hair, letting her emerald green eyes shine in all their glory.

"Wow Boss. We walked quite a ways." Raul said, removing his Riot Helmet.

"Yeah, I'm just glad we stopped for a quick breather."

"So, about that Transporter-whatever-the-hell... What exactly does it do? I know that it teleports you to Big Mountain, but why keep it?" Raul asked, pulling a bottle of Purified Water up to his lips. "What if it, you know, screws up?"

"Wow, that's one of the few times you didn't make a wisecrack in your sentence. Anyway, how could it? It uses whatever satellites that are still in orbit, if I believe. At least, I think so anyway..."
