//-------------------------------------------------------// Equestria Girls: The Jewel Thief -by Caesar Orzell 600- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Who Did It? //-------------------------------------------------------// Who Did It? It was midnight at Canterlot High. Everything was quiet and still, except for some noise outside. There was a shadow that was creeping up to the door. Sneakily, it got inside the building and disabled the alarms that were hidden in the office. Crash! That was the sound of glass shattering by the office. A display case, which showed (what few) awards the school had earned was being broken. Quickly, the shadow grabbed something from the display and ran out. It was a beautiful mid-May morning and the Equestria Girls were hanging out by Sunset Shimmer's locker when Applejack mentioned something. "Have y'all heard about Principal Celestia sending people tuh the office an' askin' them questions?" Rarity tossed her hair. "If it's about what the girls have been doing in the bathroom lately, then I have something to say about it!" Applejack sighed pointedly. "Ah don't think it's about that. Ah think it has sumthin' to do with thuh display case by thuh the principal's office." Sunset came up to her locker, looking rushed. "Sorry I was late! Our class got held back." she chuckled while she was doing her locker combination. "Did 'ju hear about thuh incident that happened last night?" Applejack wanted to know. "Most definitely," Sunset said, agreeing. "That's what all the kid were talking about last hour. In fact, that's why we held back a minute." Suddenly, a crackling sound came from the PA system. "Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Sunset Shimmer, please report to the main office," Vice-Principal Luna announced, sounding serious. "Ooh! Ooh! I LOVE going to the principal's office!" squealed Pinkie. Rainbow Dash shook her head. "I'm not gonna even ask." As the girls made their way down to the office, everyone was neverous-except Pinkie Pie, of course. Hand shaking, Sunset opened up the door to Principal Celestia's office. Come to think of it, she thought, didn't every student usually come down one by one? When the girls walked in, they all saw the principal sitting rather royally in her chair, her hand on her desk, collapsed. "Hello there fellow students," she said. "Take a seat." she gestured toward six chairs that were strategically placed in front of her office desk. The girls all sat down, politely. "I'm sure you've all heard by now of the incident that happened last night. The school's precious ruby gemstone was stolen. It was given to us by a special person a few years ago." "And who is this person?" Rainbow Dash asked rudely, getting out of her chair quickly and putting her hand on her hips. The principal made a motion for her to sit down. "A.K Yearling," she said firmly. "A.K YEARLING!?" the girls practically screamed, sans Fluttershy, who screamed quietly. "Yes. It was her," Celestia said, sounding a bit annoyed. "She gave it to our school before you girl came here, and someone stole it last night. Sadly, there is no video evidence since the person disabled our hidden camera around the school." "And...?" Pinkie Pie was literally at the edge of her seat. She then fell, startling everyone who was in the office. "Oh, that's just awful," Fluttershy said quietly, feeling sympathetic. Celestia sighed lightly. "The point is is that the last few months, you have been very helpful at our school. Me and Vice Principal Luna want you to crack this case before the thief comes back...I have a feeling he might. However, I want Sunset Shimmer and Rarity to be at the very front of this case, since I know you girls seem the most interested at the moment." Celestia paused her speaking and gestured to the other girls. Rainbow Dash was picking her nails, looking slightly disinterested. Meanwhile, Applejack was trying to calm Fluttershy down while Pinkie Pie was looking at various magazines that were sitting on a table behind the chairs. "Mmm...too bright. Nah, too dim. Ooh! Just right!" "...As you can tell. Anyways-" "What do you want us to do first?" Sunset wanted to know. "Well, first, we wait. The police are coming today and are investigating the area that me and Luna blocked off this morning by ourselves. Then, well...I hope we catch the thief." "I hope so too!" Rarity raised her voice passionately. "That gem should belong to its rightful owner!" "Me too," agreed Celestia. "Why don't you stay after school with me today and see what evidence pops up? Then tomorrow we shall truly see whole stole the ruby." Sunset and Rarity agreed unanimously. Then, a few seconds later, the other girls agreed also. The afternoon came quickly and before they knew it, Principle Celestia and the girls were all waiting for the police to arrive. "There they are!" whispered Pinkie Pie to Rainbow Dash. "The Karma Police!" Rainbow Dash gave a weird look at her friend. "Karma Police?" "Yeah! They arrest people for talking in maths and having strange hairdos!" Rainbow sighed, her arms crossed. "Sorry Pinkie, I don't speak weirdo." "But-" A brunette woman and brunette man walked into the main hall, where the scene of the crime was. "Hello, my name is Detective Joanne and I'm here for the Canterville Police." "And who is this?" Principle Celestia gestured to the man. "This is Henry...he's my partner in crime." Henry nodded. The people took a look at the situation with precision. The girls were all huddled around them, all having their own reactions. "Ooh! Hey! That's the dust thingy, right?" Pinkie pointed at what Henry was doing. "It sure is," Henry said. "And it helps a whole lot too." It didn't take that long to gather all the data, and the people were out in only a matter of minutes. The girls were looking forward to the next day, where they were going to be told whole the ruby! "So last night, the police figured out who stole the ruby," explained Principal Celestia seriously. It was the next day, and the girls were in the office again. "Who was it?" asked Sunset Shimmer curiously. She could hardly sleep the night before, she was so excited. "Well, after some careful research..." "Just get to the point already!" shouted Rainbow Dash, being impatient. "The person who stole the ruby was...A.K Yearling." "WHAT!?" screamed the girls in almost perfect unison. "But that doesn't make any sense!" said Rainbow Dash, eyes wide open. "Why would she steal her own ruby?" "I'm not sure," Celestia said. "But I want you to go to her house and try to get it back." "I would kick her in the shin, but since she's my favorite author, I'll pass." "More like your only favorite author," Applejack chortled. Sunset frowned. "So, lemme get this straight. You want us to go to house?" "Yes." the principal nodded. "I have her address right here." "Um, Principal Celestia? Why do you think she did it?" Fluttershy asked quietly. "I think it was for a good cause. They way she stole it may not have been the best way, but I know her well enough that someone else may be after it." Rarity was listening intently. "I could completely understand why someone would want to! Not generous, but-heh." Rainbow Dash, suddenly interested, perked up. "Wow! That sounds exactly like one of her Daring Do books! So! Awesome!" excited, she squished her cheeks together and squealed. While she was doing this, the principal slipped Sunset Shimmer and Rarity a piece of paper. "I trust you girls to deal with talking to Ms. Yearling." Celestia winked. "And make sure to arrive at her house before school ends. I'll give you all slip to leave sixth hour early." Sunset and Rarity looked at each nervously, not sure what to say. All they knew was to somehow get the ruby from A.K Yearling. And how were they going to do that?
