Rainbow Factory Trilogy

Hex stared up at the machine as a young mare fell into the grinders. He turned to the robotic stallion next to him, H8-Seed. “I can’t take this anymore.” He said, trying to erase the mare’s face from his mind. “If I don’t leave, I’m gonna go insane.”

H8 looked at Hex and replied, “Well, it’s too late for BDP. Anyways, how are you gonna get out of here? There are guards at every exit. Plus, Rainbow Dash is the only one who’s allowed to leave. Not even Glaze can.”

As if on cue, the alarm rang for the end of the day.

“Follow me.” Hex said as he walked towards his room, though it was more of a cell. He sat at the desk and pulled out a piece of parchment. H8 read it and found the escape plan to be amazing.

“It’s just stupid enough to work.” He said.

Hex ripped the parchment in half and gave one half to H8. “One for me and one for you. I’m just a regular employee, plus I can’t fly, so my escape will be harder than yours. Yours should be easy as all you have to do is fly to the top exit after shutting the power down.” H8 nodded and walked out of the room. He was gonna have a hard time tomorrow.

“Another day, another bit.” Hex says as he stands up from his bed. He walked out of the room and headed towards some other employees talking. He decided to eavesdrop.

“Hey, did you hear of the new victims coming in a few days?” One said.

“Yeah, supposed to be a few fillies.” The other said.

Hex nearly jumped as he heard that, though he managed to keep still as he brought today’s first victim towards the machine.

“Only three days till the first child dies by our hooves.” A third one said. They started laughing, though Hex felt sick to his stomach. How could they laugh at the death of a filly? Well, one thing was for sure, he had to protect the young ones.

“What?!” H8 nearly screamed at what he said. “You’re crazy. Escaping is bad enough, but you want to save a couple victims? They’re a couple victims on top of the ones we’ve already seen!”

“I already said they’re FILLIES! They don’t deserve to die at such a young age.” Hex was shocked that H8 could even think about letting such young ones die.

“But if you try to save them, you’ll die right along with them.”

“Well, at least I’ll go down fighting.”

“Ugh, fight, fight, fight, is that all you think about? You lived off fighting, you fought to solve your problems, now you want to fight an entire factory? This is what the old Rainbow was talking about, you’re an idiot.” I nearly exploded when he talked about Rainbow before the factory.

“I thought we agreed that we wouldn’t talk about her past self.”

“Sorry, but it gets my point across.”

“Well, you can leave when you want. But I’m staying for the fillies.” He turned and walked away as the alarm for the end of the day rang. He was pissed, but he knew that there was no point in the anger. All he could do was sit and wait.

H8-Seed walked up the stairs and stared at the controls. He sighed and put his hoof on the lever that would start the machine and pulled it as the machine roared with life. He looked as Hex brought the next victims to the machine. He still couldn’t believe what he was doing, but without hesitation, just before the victim met her end, he pulled the lever and hoped for the best.
