Equestria after Doomsday
A Normal Day
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a normal day in Ponyville. Ponies pranced back and forth through town, picking up goods from the market, conversing with friends, and sometimes heading to the castle in the middle of town where the princess and her friends resided. In his home, Star Goal practiced shooting soccer goals in his room, but found it incredibly easy because of his special talent, represented by the soccer cutie mark he had, and that he was doing it all alone. Star Goal was a pony with red fur that clashed with his light green mane and tail, which bothered his mother a lot, so he usually wore a purple baseball cap. Downstairs, his mother prepared lunch and his father read the newspaper, like they always did. It was a normal day in Ponyville.
"Star Goal!" cried his mother, "can you water the flowers outside?"
"Okay!" called back Star Goal. He galloped downstairs, almost bumping into his father.
"Easy boy!" cried his father. "No galloping in the house!"
"Sorry, I'm really active today."
"Use that activeness for gardening instead of running" added his mother from the kitchen.
Slowly, Star Goal went outside and after filling up the water can, he refreshed the daises and daffodils that his mother had planted four months ago during Winter Wrap-Up. The flowers seemed to be rejuvenated after a good dosing, and Star Goal contently headed back to the door.
"Help!" A stallion with shaggy aquamarine fur, sunken-in brown eyes, and a black mane and tail stumbled upon Star Goal.
"Do you need anything?"
"The cure?"
"What cure?"
"Everyone in Manehattan's been turned into brainless, soulless beasts! All because of those aliens-"
"Sir, are you clinically insane?"
"Hush! They're here. Your precious princess hiding it, but let me tell you, they're all-"
A gunshot rang in the air, and Star Goal as well as the stallion shrieked in surprise. Star Goal's parents ran outside and pulled their son away from the strange stallion. His older sister Barnacle Brush, a unicorn mare with light green fur and a pink mane and tail, was levitating his shotgun when she came close to them.
"Ugh, it's you" she groaned when she glanced at the stallion.
"You know him?" asked Star Goal.
"Not really. But I know that he's crazy." Barnacle Brush shot another warning shot into the sky to scare off the stallion. "Scram!"
The stallion whimpered, but stayed put. "The aliens will come for you too. They'll infect all of Equestria!"
"GET AWAY FROM US." The shotgun was pointed into the sky again and shot.
The stallion galloped away, his tail in between his hind legs. As he did, he still cried out warnings of an upending doom.
Star Goal's mother turned to Barnacle Brush. "When did you get a shotgun?"
"That's not important" Barnacle said quickly. "What is important is that you watch out for that guy."
After Barnacle left for her home, Star Goal was ushered inside. While they ate lunch, Barnacle asked his parents, "do you think the stallion
was crazy? Or do you believe him?"
His mother and father glanced at each other for a while. Finally, his father answered. "No, we don't believe him. Just some crazy coot to ignore, Star Goal."
"Ponyville not a place where crazy things happen," added his mother. "It's just a normal place with normal days like yesterday, and even if today was rather peculiar, tomorrow will be a normal day."
