What does virgin mean?
Question...
Load Full StoryRarity was in the kitchen preparing a meal and waiting for Sweetie Belle to arrive from school.
She wanted to finish before Sweetie’s arrival so that she could dodge the question Sweetie asked every single time Rarity was doing something in the kitchen.
Rarity simply hated to see the sadness on her little sister’s face every time she said no to her, but she also didn’t want her boutique to be eaten away by the flames. Last time was already a close call, way too close for her liking.
But she still didn’t want to rush it; “the key of being a good cook is to have patience” was the first thing her mother told her when she taught her how to cook. So she tried to slow down and relax a bit.
“Maybe some music will help” Rarity thought and walked towards a small music player Rainbow Dash gave her on her latest birthday.
Rarity wasn’t a huge fan of music. She just couldn’t find a band she could really enjoy. She enjoyed mostly classical music. One of the few most “modern” bands she enjoyed was Coldplay. But even though she liked them, she didn’t own any of their albums.
She was however starting to enjoy the music her costumer and friend, Sapphire Shores, did. At first she only knew her name; I mean who couldn’t possibly know who Sapphire Shores is? She is “The Queen of Pop” after all.
But Rarity had never admired her for her music; she always admired her tastes on clothing. Always shocking entire audiences with astonishing dresses, not only for her but for her back up dancers as well.
But now that Rarity was “her favorite designer” Sapphire not only would pay her a more than generous amount of bits but she would also gift her exclusive deluxe edition albums and free tickets for Rarity, her friends and her family.
“I think I might have a rival on my title of ‘Element of Generosity’” Rarity giggled while putting Sapphire’s newest album on the music player and walking back into the kitchen.
The music started and instantly Sapphire’s beautiful voice came in. Rarity couldn’t help but walk to the beat of the song. She had to admit, it was simply too catchy to resist.
Rarity went into the kitchen and resumed her work, all the while tapping her foot to the beat of the songs and even slightly moving her hips to the sides every once in a while.
“Music really makes time go faster” Rarity thought, amazed that she actually finished everything in time. All that was left was waiting for the food to finish cooking and for her little sister to arrive.
And right on cue, the bell on the front door rang and in came the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Rarity’s smile dropped as soon as she saw the trio.
“Hi Rarity!” The three little girls screamed at the same time and smiled widely.
“Hello girls, how are you doing?” Rarity tried her best to remain calm and not run out the door screaming for help.
“We are fine, thanks for asking” Apple Bloom replied in her typical cheerful manner.
“Well, I’m glad you are doing fine” Rarity said with a nervous smile “But would you mind telling me why you are here? Sweetie didn’t tell me anything about you girls coming to eat. I only prepared enough food for Sweetie and me…”
“Oh don’t worry about that Rarity” Scootaloo replied waving her hand “We only came here because we had something to ask you”
Rarity sighed internally when she heard that “Oh, I see. Well then, go ahead. Ask me the question.” Rarity said with a gentle smile on her muzzle.
Sweetie Belle stepped forward “What does “virgin” mean?”
Rarity’s smile dropped a second time and her eyes widen “Beg your pardon Sweetie?”
“What does virgin mean?” The three of them asked.
Rarity’s brain started to panic. A thousand questions flooded her mind. The one that made her more worried was “where, how or who told them about that?”.
“Cheerilee couldn’t possibly be the reason. They are way too young to see this stuff on their classes…”
“Maybe they heard about it on the streets? That could be it. A lot of people had no sense of decency and they talk about that stuff anywhere…”
“Or maybe…” A thought crossed Rarity’s mind and she gasped “The internet! Of course! I knew it was a bad idea to give Sweetie a laptop at such young age. Oh my poor little innocent sister…”
The Cutie Mark Crusaders watched in awkward silence all of the facial expressions Rarity was making.
“Why is she making those weird faces?” Apple Bloom whispered to her fellow crusaders.
“And why is she not answering. Is it a hard question?” Scootaloo whispered too.
“I don’t know… What should we do?” Sweetie replied.
“I don’t know… Ask her again…” Scootaloo said.
Sweetie nervously took another step forward “Uhm, Rarity? Are you okay?”
Rarity snapped back to reality. “Wha- huh? What did you say Sweetie?”
“Are you okay? You were making some weird faces and you didn’t answer the question…”
“Oh… I’m sorry about that.” “Get a hold of yourself Rarity” Rarity scowled herself “There’s nothing you can do now. The best you can do is explaining to them on the best way possible and help them understand. And later find out who told them and kill that person…”
“So will you explain us? Sweetie asked smiling.
“Sure thing darling. Just look for a seat and I’ll tell you”
While the girls all looked for a place to seat, Rarity turned off the kitchen oven to be sure the food wouldn’t overcook.
Rarity took a deep breath and took a seat in front of the girls who were staring at her with eyes full of curiosity. She took a couple more deep breaths to calm her nerves and she finally was ready to help her sister and friends to be one step closer towards adulthood.
“Well girls, you see, boys and girls have different bodies. You already know about that right?”
“What do you mean by that?” Asked Sweetie Belle
“Yeah, we all have different bodies” Apple Bloom added
“Apple Bloom’s body is yellow, Sweetie’s is white and…” Scootaloo was saying before being interrupted by a giggling Rarity.
“No, that’s not what I meant girls…” Rarity giggled a bit more and took another deep breath “Focus Rarity, this is a serious talk” “I was talking about girls and boys in general”
“Oh, You are talking about how boys are taller and stronger than girls and how girls have tatas, right?” Sweetie said smiling.
“Yes, that’s what- Wait, did you just say tatas?” Rarity asked shocked.
“That’s how mom called them…” Sweetie responded tilting her head to the side.
Rarity facepalmed. “By Celestia’s grace mother.” “Yes Sweetie, those are the differences I’m talking about”
“But that’s a lie!” Scootaloo screamed
Rarity was taken aback by her reaction “Why do you say that Scootaloo?”
“Because Pipsqueak and Snips aren’t taller or stronger than me! I think they are even weaker than Sweetie!” Scootaloo said.
“Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?” Sweetie asked angry.
“Well, you are the weakest of the three of us…” Apple Bloom stated.
“But I have magic!” Sweetie smiled and puffed her chest.
“So? We are talking about physical strength” Scootaloo deadpanned.
“Girls! Please, stop fighting this instant.” The trio went quiet. “Yes, there’s always some special cases, but that’s not what we are talking about right now.” Rarity spoke in a calm and gentle tone. “What I was referring to was that boys have a very special… Uuuuum…”
“A very special what?” Asked Sweetie with wide eyes.
“Yeah, what is it?” Apple Bloom joined her.
“Please, tell us!” Now three sets of eyes were looking at her with expectation.
“Oh no! What do I say now? I should have thought this through!” Rarity’s mind was racing looking for a way to talk about such a delicate subject without mentally scaring the three innocent little girls in front of her. “A… special thing” Rarity said, blushing slightly.
“A special thing?” Asked the trio.
“Yes. A very special and important thing. It’s something of great importance for all the boys in the world” Rarity said smiling.
“What kind of thing?” Asked Sweetie.
“Of course they were going to ask that… Now what do I do? Well, I could repeat the same thing dad told me when I asked him…” “It’s a toy”
“……what?” they asked confused.
“But it’s not just any toy. It’s a toy they can only show to the girls they love.” “That’s a lie of course, but they don’t need to know that yet” “And well, then once they showed the girl they love their toy they…” Rarity blushed again, this time a deeper shade of red than before “…let the girl play with their toy”
“Oh…. And what does that have to do with the word virgin?” Sweetie scratched her head while asking, clearly even more confused than before.
“Oh! Right… That… Well, until a boy allows you play with his “toy” you are a virgin.” Rarity said.
“And is that a bad thing?” Asked Scootaloo.
"Is it like not having a cutie mark?" Apple Bloom's asked with worry.
“No, it’s good; at least until certain age… you girls shouldn’t worry about that stuff yet.” Rarity waved her hand dismissively.
“Oh” Was all the trio could say.
Rarity smiled, proud that she managed to set things clear on such a taboo subject as this.
“But then, what does ‘extra virgin’ mean” Apple Bloom asked.
Rarity just stared at her for a few seconds. “What?” She asked on a squeaky voice.
“We saw a bottle of cooking oil with that written on the label, that's why we asked you what it meant” Scootaloo replied.
Rarity thought about for a moment. And then facepalmed and her face turning into the deepest shade of red.
