//-------------------------------------------------------// The Tale of New Beginnings -by Violet Raindrop- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Start of It All //-------------------------------------------------------// The Start of It All Violet Raindrop is the third daughter of Prince Shadowmane and Princess Stormycreek, daughter of the late King of Nightfall, a kingdom in the 2nd dimension of the commonly heard of Equestria. At age 3, Violet’s eldest sister, April Showers, vanished one night, and nopony had ever figured out where she went, but Violet thinks her father sent her into a different dimension to bring home a husband.. Her other sister, Sunshine Meadow, died while Violet was in 2nd grade. Sunshine was Violet’s closest family member, and she was always there for Violet. It took 6 years for her to start to talk to anypony about anything. Even then, she had very few friends and decided to ask her mother to home school her. Her mother agreed as long as Violet promised to at least try to make friends in the kingdom. She agreed, but never found anypony who was willing to be her friend. When she was 18, her father told her to start her search for the pony she would like to spend the rest of her life with, the only issue being is that she couldn’t have it be anyone from the kingdom unless he were royalty ( in which her brother was the only available pony). Violet looked down shyly, adjusting her mane slightly, before finally accepting her fate. Prince Shadowmane gave her a cold, emotionless smile before using his magic to teleport her away from the only home she had ever known. Without warning, Violet was immersed in a bright flash, one that temporarily blinded her. As her vision returned, she soon found herself in the middle of a dark forest that seemed unfamiliar to her compared to the black forest of her home. She wandered the forest and attempted to fly above the trees, but something prevented her from using her wings and her magic, as her horn recently grew in she was still new with magic. She realized suddenly that she was trapped in the forest except for walking, which she was not used to, having her wings her whole life. She withstood the harshness the forest contained knowing she couldn’t return until she found the pony she would marry. After what must have been a few days, she emerged on the edge of a town called Ponyville. A quick stretch and a few flaps, she took to the air to see what the town looked like. Some things here seemed to be the same as back home, but some things she had never seen before. She bolted across the town, faintly noticing a blue Pegasus with a rainbow mane quickly approaching. As this strange mare flew closer, she smiled and asked if Violet was new to Ponyville. Violet sighed and nodded, trying to get the conversation over quickly, not really in the mood for idle chit chat. The Pegasus, soon growing tired of being ignored, jabbed at her with her hoof. She introduced herself as Rainbow Dash. Much to Violet's chagrin, she decided it was best she stopped and listened to what could be a bit of insight on her new pseudo-home. Upon taking a second glance, she wondered if she had met this Pegasus before She couldn't have, but this Rainbow Dash pony seemed so familiar. Some qualities of her reminded her deceased sister, which eased her mind slightly. Dash asked where Violet was from and how she ended up near Ponyville. All Violet could do to remain composed was to shrug and look away quietly. After a few moments, Rainbow Dash suggested that Violet follow her, telling her she was in a hurry to get back to a town called Cloudsdale. Along the flight, Rainbow asked a few more questions, none of which Violet seemed too interested or knowledgeable in, as she lead the Alicorn to a city that was made entirely of clouds, and more specifically, to a building labeled the Rainbow Factory. Violet's eyes grew wide as she first saw the building, learning that Weather Patrol ponies usually work around Equestria and some of the best work here. Violet felt a slight burn in her heart before Rainbow Dash pointed out Violet's new Cutie mark by asking what her special talent was. Blushing bright red, Violet said she was not sure, but felt like she needed to be in that factory making the beautiful streaks of color. Rainbow Dash offered to give Violet a tour of the factory, in which Violet happily agreed. Without hesitation, Violet found herself wrapped in the clouds, learning about the rainbows. She asked Dash if there was any way possible she could work there. She said she didn’t know but she would ask around, which caused Violet to squee in joy. At least something was going right for her. A while later, after having said goodbye to Miss Dash, Violet realized she had no place to stay for the night and she could not bare the thought of sleeping in the woods one more night, so she floated around Cloudsdale, looking for a crevice where she could sleep without being in anypony’s way. The next morning she woke in a cold sweat, her mind processing the horrible nightmare from that night. What could have happened to her family for her to dream she was standing over her parent’s almost unrecognizable bodies? Was there something her father did not tell her? The image of her father's skeleton sitting on the throne with her mother sprawled at his feet. Stains in the rugs, which she could tell with utmost certainty was blood, were minuscule droplets leading up to her mother's body, where it then pooled. A breeze caught Violet off guard and she shivered. Her gaze drifted upward, following a bright rainbow trail which stretched from the Factory all the way down to what must have been a distant town or pasture. The sight erased all thoughts of her terror She then began to notice Pegasi floating to and fro in the chaos of early morning traffic. A new thought sparked within her mind. Would she let her father run her life? Would she choose to follow his instructions and find somepony to marry? Or would she choose to live a new life, here in Equestria, where nopony knew her past, or possibly even cared about where she came from. After a brief second glance at the now fading streak of color, Violet decided it was probably best to at least start her journey. Shaking her fur, straightening her mane, and with no hesitation, she rushed over to where Rainbow Dash told her she lived and knocked profusely on the cloud. Author's Note Sorry if this seemed a bit.... Vague, Short, or "run-on" like. it is meant as an introduction into the life of Violet, And I decided it was best to not include any actual dialogue until I could comfortably take the personalities and use them to further the story. Hope you all liked it. Week 1: Struggles of a New Life coming soon.
