"No, that sucks." Epic Parody mumbled to himself as he threw yet another ball of paper into the trash can. The trash had started to overflow with paper balls so the new ball of paper just merely bounced off the hill in the trash can and rolled under Parry's chair. Not that he cared. He had his mind on something else.
"Ugh!" Parry ripped up another piece of paper, throwing it to the ground in a rage. He let out an exasperated sigh before dropping his head on his desk. "Since when was it so hard to write a song?"
Epic Parody was having problems writing a song. The Epic Parody. Known for his parody songs across the world! Okay, maybe not the world but he was pretty famous when it came to writing songs. It was his talent. His thing. Now Parry had lost inspiration for a new song and boy was he a mess. Yes, a mess. Parry wasn't one to be a mess. He was usually calm and collected but right now, he was having a breakdown. He needed to write something. At least one song. It's been weeks since his last song and he couldn't help but feel the need to write a new one but he just couldn't find the words. Or even a song to write a parody of.
"Maybe I should try writing an original song. Who am I kidding? I can't write a parody, how am I going to be able to write a song AND come up with the chords? And now I'm talking to myself. You're losing it, Parry. Losing it." Parry let out another sigh before turning his head so that he was laying on the side of it.
He was facing his wall of pictures that he made. Parry wasn't a photographer but he liked to take his fair share of pictures. They hold great memories and make great collages.
Parry stared at his picture collage. They were all pictures of his friends. Well, they were Cotton Candy's friends but his friends too. He liked to believe.
He had taken a lot of selfies with everyone who considered a friend. Even the younger kids, who he loved to death and surprisingly Claire. Yes, he was terrified of her. Still is, but she can be cool at times. And she had agreed to it which was even more surprising so Parry took the chance and took a picture with her. There was one person who seem to take up most of the pictures. Candy or as he called her, Fairy Floss. He had taken way too many selfies with her. There were pictures where she didn't know she was talking a selfie, even pictures where Parry wasn't in it. Just her. Granted, there were pictures of the others were Parry wasn't in it, such as Prism and Starburst having a race and T holding up Annie and her orphan friends all at once, much to Hot Head's dismay since it was a bet that he had just lost. But when it came to the amount of pictures, Candy took the cake. She was probably half of the pictures on Parry's wall.
Could you blame him? Candy was Parry's best friend, after all. Besides, he did kinda, sorta, maybe a teeny tiny bit, have a small crush on her. Not that he would ever tell her. It would ruin their friendship and he really loved their friendship.
"Hm..." Parry looked at his wall for a few more second before something cake to mind. He quickly sat up and grabbed his ukulele. Sitting up straight and tall, he took a big breathe only to let it out again and return to slouching.
Dammit. He thought he had an idea. Parry let out his third sigh, got up from his seat, bringing his ukulele with him and plopped on his bed, facing up at the ceiling.
He was never going to write a song. He wish he could call up Candy to help him but she was busy with party planning things. Oh, Candy. She always wanted to help with those things, making sure everything was perfect. She was so OCD, it wasn't funny. She was kooky, weird and really giggly too. She was just amazing. Everything he liked in a girl. Good sense of humor, amazing hair, fun, lovable, she can sing, and she was just awesome. As sappy as it sounds, she might have stolen his heart.
Without thinking, Parry brought up his ukulele and started to strum the strings. Soon his mouth opened and he started to sing along.
"Well, you've done done it and you better felt it. I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted." Parry sat up as fast as lightning. A big smile was plastered on his face. He didn't know how but he just came up with the first lyrics to his song. Turns out Candy was inspiration. Quickly running to his desk, Parry continued to work on his love song even though he knew he would never show it to Candy.
"Come on in. Dad's out on some business trip and Mom's gone with him so I have the whole house to myself." Parry told Candy as he tossed his keys on the table.
"I know, Parry. My mom's gone with him, remember?" Candy reminded him as she fixed the couch pillows.
Parry hit his head with hand, "Oh duh, I totally forgot. I can be such an idiot."
Candy smiled, "No, you're not. Just forgetful."
"And I'm also an idiot. It's cool, Fairy Floss. I know I am."
"Well, when you put it that way..."
Parry gave her a hurt look, put his hand to his heart and said in a Southern Belle accent, "Why, miss Fairy Floss! I never!"
Candy laughed, gently shoving Parry, "Oh shush, little miss Parry. We have work to do."
Parry gave her grin before leading her to his room, "It's probably on my desk somewhere. You could look around, I'm going to check in the kitchen." Parry left for the kitchen while Candy cringed at the sight of the messy papers on Parry's desk.
"Oh my gosh, Parry." Candy quickly went to work, fixing the papers while she looked for the plans, Parry and she had made for the birthday bash. With their parents gone, they had to take care of the entire thing.
"Not this one. Or this one. Jeez, Parry, how many papers do you have?"
Candy continued to look until she came across what looked like a music sheet.
"Hm? Oh, this must be one of Parry's parody songs. Well, you've done done me and you better felt it. I tried to be chill but-"
The paper was quickly snatched out of Candy's hands.
"Hey!" Candy turned around to find Parry standing behind her with a folder in one hand and the paper she was reading in another.
"Noisy one, aren't we?" Parry smirked. Candy turned pink.
"N-No, I'm not! I was just looking through the papers you let me look at! Besides, it just a song. What are you hiding?" Candy crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. This time Parry turned pink.
"N-Nothing. It's nothing."
"Then lemme see it." Candy reached for the paper but Parry pulled it back.
"Nope."
"Aw, come on!" Candy reached for it again but Parry pulled it out of her reach.
"You can read it if you can reach it."
"Parry!"
"Catch it if you can." Parry ran out the door.
Candy quickly ran after him, "Parry! No fair!"
Parry laughed as he ran away, dodging items in his path. Candy, though she was upset, couldn't help but smile and laugh as she chased after Parry. He was such a child sometimes but she was glad he was. Made things a lot more fun.
After chasing and running for what seemed like hours, Parry collapsed on the floor and Candy along with him.
"You're awful." Candy told Parry, breathlessly. She was smiling.
"You love me." Parry smirked, also breathless.
"Oh shush." Candy pushed Parry, causing him to chuckle.
"Wow, we need to go to the gym."
"No kidding."
This time they both laughed. Once, the laughing died down, Candy turned on her side, facing Parry.
"So, are you ever going to show me what that song is?"
Parry stared at the ceiling for a while before speaking up, "Someday. Not today but I'll show someday."
"Promise?"
Parry looked at Candy. He really looked into her beautiful, yellow eyes. He smiled.
"Promise."
Parry picked up his ukulele and sat by his windowsill. Candy had left a while ago. He looked out his window and stared at the setting sun. He smiled. The sunset was always so beautiful. Bringing his ukulele up, he started to strum the strings and opened his mouth.
"Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it. I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted. I fell right through the cracks. Now I'm trying to get back. Before the cool dawn run out
I'll be giving it my bestest. And nothing's gonna stop me but divine intervention. I reckon, it's again my turn. To win some or learn some. But I won't hesitate. No more, no more. It cannot wait, I'm yours. Well, open up your mind and see like me, Open up your plans and damn you're free. Look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love, love. Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing, we're just one big family. And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved. So I won't hesitate. No more, no more.
It cannot wait, I'm sure. There's no need to complicate. Our time is short. This is our fate, I'm yours. Do you want to come on, scootch on over closer, dear. And I will nibble your ear. I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror. And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer. But my breath fogged up the glass. And so I drew a new face and I laughed. I guess what I'll be saying is there ain't no better reason. To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons. It's what we aim to do. Our name is our virtue. But I won't hesitate. No more, no more. It cannot wait, I'm yours. Well, open up your mind and see like me, Open up your plans and damn you're free. Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours. So please don't, please don't, please don't. There's no need to complicate. 'Cause our time is short. This oh, this oh, this is our fate. I'm yours."
As Parry sang his last few notes, he closed his eyes. He was especially happy right now. He had taken a new picture to put on his wall. A picture of him and Fairy Floss. Best friends for life. Parry smiled and strummed his ukulele one last time.
"I'm yours."
