The yelling could be heard clearly by the guards outside the thin wooden door leading to the war room. The guard’s ears flattened against their heads as a particular outburst rang out. Inside the room an unfortunate charcoal pegasus rested his head on his hooves as the bickering, in the meeting hall, continued.

“I told you already, Wind Tunnel! We cannot use the Elements of Harmony without all six!” a pale coated unicorn with a maroon mane spat,

“And I told you, Far Sight! We have all six! Even with the one gone, the element passed on to this pegasus!” Wind Tunnel pointed to the dark toned pony sitting on the other end of the table whose head shot up.

Blaze Wing’s face felt a little heat at the sudden attention but soon realized that though he was being referred to he had no part in this argument. Blaze groaned audibly. He hated all of this fighting between ponies. The fighting was supposed to be against the enemy! It had been six months since the Canterlot Wedding incident, and the only victories the newly formed Equestrian Corps had one were the ones over tables and maps.

Half of the ponies in Canterlot hadn't even had a chance when the initial invasion began, it was just too much. Thousands of Changeling poured through the roof of the shield Shining Armor put up. No one had any idea how that was even possible until the Changeling Queen revealed herself as the imposter of Shining's bride. Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. 'if only we had listened to Twilight's warni-' Blaze Wings thoughts were interrupted when his ears perked to the distant sound of an explosion.

“What the hell was that?!” Far Sight asked. The red pegasus, Wind Tunnel, cursed under his breath.

“It sounds like they found us faster than we planned for...” Wind Tunnel turned to a nearby guard pony in full steel barding, “Corporal Swift, get the civilian division into and through the evac caves and round up the rest of the soldiers we have and regroup with the Elements. Find a way to seal that breach and clear out when you have.” The guard replied with a crisp salute and he looked over at Blaze Wing and motioned for him to follow.

As the two ponies ran through the low lit tunnels the rumbling and shaking of detonations became more and more frequent. The changelings had found their hide out and were not stopping any time soon.

“Blaze! Over here!” Blaze's ears twitched up at the sound of a familiar voice. As he looked up from running he saw five colourful ponies, one of which was waving him and Swift Catch over.

“Dash!” he rushed over to the cyan pegasus and embraced her.

“I missed you, Blaze.” Rainbow Dash said as she nuzzled Blaze's neck.

“I know, I missed you too.”

“Alright y'all, save th' mush fer when th' rest of us ain't around,” Apple Jack elbowed Blaze in the ribs while Dash shot her a look, “and fer when we ain't about t' wrangle us up some bugs.”

AJ's comment settled the mood. They were all about to head into another fight. While they had all trained and had a fair share of combat in the six months since Canterlot, the feeling of anxiety and adrenaline right before a battle never left, neither did the memories. Countless soldiers cut down by the armies of the changeling Queen. Pony blood filled the streets of the once golden capital, bodies lay strewn about, hostages sucked dry of all emotion as the changelings fed. The resistance had no idea how far this destruction had spread even though we were constantly fighting against it. Loss after loss, hundreds after hundreds of ponies dead, it only served to anger Blaze more.

“Lets move, people!” Corporal Swift snapped at them, “we'll make a stop by the armory and grab your gear, and a few magic charges. Orders are to seal whatever the changelings opened.”

The tunnels to the armory seemed like every other tunnel in this quick fix of an operations base. How Swift Catch managed to navigate these so easily, Blaze would never know. He shook his head inwardly to clear it of the trivial though and tried to focus on the task at hoof, but his mind kept wandering this time to a certain rainbow maned mare galloping right beside him. He smiled. It had been quite the adventure since he met this mare, and he figured it was only going to get more interesting as the days continued. He could handle interesting.

A large explosion rocked the earth beneath the group and Rarity's footing failed and she landed on the hard dirt, something she had still to get used to. When she moved to pick herself up she found a familiar scaly hand offering assistance.

“Why, thank you Spikey-wikey” Rarity cooed,

“Come on Rares, I haven’t been Spikey-wikey since I hit my growth spurt.” Spike said.

Rarity sighed, “I know Spike, but it reminds me of when you were so adorable, and not as ferocious.”

Spike had been very excited when he finally grew, he was a head taller than even Big Mac, and grew wings! Not to mention his ability to breath fire had changed as well. Instead of only small bursts of hot green flame, he could blast several changelings worth of white burning fire. He was now a proud dragon to say the least.

It took the group several more turns through the dim tunnels to come to the hallway where the armory was stationed. Blaze barely saw the door to the armory, marked by the sword and shield on it, when his vision was blocked as he roof of the hallway exploded inward sending clods of dirt in every direction, stopping the group from advancing any further. Blaze Wing shielded his eyes from the flying dirt, when the debris settled he looked up from his foreleg and saw dozens pairs of glowing eyes.

“Everyone get behind me!” Blaze shouted as he opened his wings to their full extent, filling the semi-cramped tunnel from wall to wall.

Suddenly his wings burst into a searing flame, he curled his feathers as he had done dozens of times before in tight situations. He beat his wings forward sending a ball of fire into the sea of green...

Author's Note

That's my first Fic! I hope you guys like it. I'm not sure when I will be updating it.. but I hope to do it regularly. It depends on how long it takes to write the chapters. If you guys have any ideas I would love to hear them (I know. I know. I've said that five other times or so. Bear with me.)
