//-------------------------------------------------------// A Pinkity Moment -by Caesar Orzell 600- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// "Watcha doin'?" //-------------------------------------------------------// "Watcha doin'?" "Watcha doin'?" Pinkie's voice could be heard from Rarity's carousel boutique, seeming like she wanted to talk to someone. Rarity sighed with not relief, but dread. "I'm...uh..." Turning around, she saw Pinkie standing by the door, jumping up and down. She was clearly bored...or just slightly bored. Here she goes, Rarity thought. Annoying me, and not letting me finish my work! "I'm working on something very important right now!" "Oooh!" suddenly, Pinkie appeared right next to Rarity, startling her. "Can I help?" Rarity's eye twitched. "Well, uh, certainly! Since Sweetie Belle's not here right now, I'm sure you can lend me a hoof." "Sweet! Like cupcakes! What should I do first? Pick out gems to put on the outfit? Help you sew? Pick out colors? I'm sure turquoise would go GREAT with indigo!" Rarity pondered that statement for a minute. "Yeah, I guess it...would..." "Hey, what's inside this!?" Pinkie shrieked as she held up a box. She shook it, creating a rattling noise. "Ahhh! Don't touch that!" "But really? What's inside it?" "A...a lot of important stuff! Like, um, fragile stuff." Rarity magicked over the box and opened it, showing her what was inside. "See? Fragile glass containers, containing jewels and ribbons." Pinkie, not quite understanding Rarity's distress, dug into her box at full speed, causing the glasses to fall...only for her to catch them right in the nick of time. Rarity sighed yet again, and continued working on the outfit. "Oh, I understand now! They're important! Duh! I'm not stupid...I just sometimes forget! Regret! Baguette! Oooh...I could go for one of those right about now!" "Me too," Rarity moaned, seeing that she had messed up on a piece of fabric. "Only that lunch time is in a half hour. That gives me enough time to finished sewing the front sleeves together and after that, I shall have at least the very front of the dress done!" "Who are you making it for?" Pinkie asked while chewing on a piece of sugared bread. "Marine Diamond," Rarity announced. "She is a new and upcoming artist, and she's a big fan of Sapphire Shores' outfits which are designed by me, so she asked me to make her one! Isn't that delightful?" Rarity batted her eyes, as if a camera was right in front of her, taking her picture. Pinkie gulped down the last piece of bread. "Sure is! Now that makes me wanna listen to some of her music! Do you have any of her songs?" "Ehh...not on me, but would like to get my hooves on her first single." Suddenly, an idea struck Rarity. "Pinkie Pie!" "That's me!" "Would you be a dear and...fetch me a record of her first single?" Pinkie's eyes widened, and she looked starry eyed. "I'm sure Vinyl Scratch has a copy! And she's in town too! I'll be right back with her first single before you say 'streamers!'" "Strea..." Pinkie was gone. "...mers." Pinkie was back. A gust of wind met Rarity's mane, tousling it a little bit. "Ooh, you're lucky!" she shouted. "Vinyl just happened to be at Sugarcube Corner with the records in her saddlebag! She was so nice she let me borrow TWO!!" "That's great," Rarity murmured, not taking her eyes off her important project. "Here we go! Song number one! 'I Am Not a Changeling!'" Rarity could here the scratching of a needle and the song swell up, forming a wall of sound that seemed to be inside her mind. She couldn't help but hum along with the melody, even though she wasn't familiar with the song. And towards the end of the song, she was singing along to the chorus, and accomplished both of the sleeves in the whole duration of it! "You go, Rarity!" Pinkie cheered for her friend, while coloring in what looked like a notebook. "And now time for side B: 'Applewood'!" Right as the song started, Rarity had to comment on the artist. "You know, Pinkie? I'm really starting to like her songs! I hope this artist doesn't fade into obscurity, like Adeile did." "Shh! Enjoy the music!" Pinkie said in a hushed voice. And before she knew it, a half an hour (or even more) passed, and Rarity almost got the entire dress finished. "SNACK BREAK!!" Pinkie yelled. "And I've got the snacks!" she stopped the record, which was already finished, and started to pull food out of the air. "I've got chocolate, chocolate eggs, marshmallow ducks, gummy fish, gummy worms..." "I don't mean to sound rude, darling, but I'd much rather have something more...appetizing and, well, you know, healthy for lunch. I'm going to have that salad that I made earlier this morning in the fridge!" "Suit yourself! That means more for me!" and with that, Pinkie started to dig in. As Rarity walked in the kitchen to retrieve her lunch, she started to think about Pinkie Pie. She was surprised that, for whatever reason, Pinkie didn't seem too annoying today. After all, she had saved her precious glass bottles from a depressing fate of landing on the ground shattered, and had introduced her to a new artist. If it had been Rainbow Dash or Applejack or Twilight or heck, even Fluttershy that had came over, it would have never been the same. Suddenly, Rarity paused while magicking a fork out of the kitchen drawer. You know what, she thought to herself, I'm going to help myself to some chocolate. "It's just one meal," Rarity said aloud. "It won't hurt. After all, who can't resist chocolate? Not me!" Rarity quickly put her meal back in the fridge and made her way into the mane hall, where Pinkie was scarfing down some candy. "Make sure you save some for me!" she hollered. "I'm about to dig in!" And that was how an ordinary day turned out to be a great one, in Rarity's opinion.
