Prologue: Choosing the Right one
Prologue
"No, not that one," I said. "It's too fancy."
I was going to make the decision of a lifetime. If she would accept, it would change our lives forever.
"She must be really hard to impress," the shopkeeper said.
"No, it's not that, it's just that I'm really nervous."
"No problem, everypony who comes here is extremely nervous. How about this one?" The shopkeeper gave me another box. I opened it.
"Hmm... It looks pretty good, but do you have anything else?"
"Well, there is one more, but not many ponies have come to like it because it looks rather unnatural. It's been in this shop for years."
"Alright then, show me," I said.
The shopkeeper took a dusty box from the shelf and handed it to me. I opened it to see a beautiful ring with a rainbow-coloured diamond in the center. It’s band was made of 14 carat gold. “Wow…” I said to myself.
“So you want it or not?” The shopkeeper said.
“I’ll take it.”
“You will?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, the ring was originally 750 bits, but I’ll give you a discount because I want to get rid of it so badly. I’ll take off 50%.”
“Alright.” I put 325 bits on the table.
“Nice doing business with you,” the shopkeeper said.
