It's Just a Card

The sun was high in the sky on a very lovely day with just a few clouds in the sky.

In a small cottage on the outskirts of the small town of Ponyville, sat a pegasus coated in yellow with a lush pink mane by the name of Fluttershy.

She was sitting down at the table in her room with a red heart shaped paper in front of her.

Putting the pen down on the table and sitting back in her chair she looked at the paper and started reading it out loud.

  "You're never far from my mind;

and every time that I close my eyes;

your shining smile is what I see;

in your hooves;

is where I want to be;

smart, funny, beautiful, enchanting;

are just some of the words that describe you;

those pretty eyes;

have me hypnotized;

even though we don't always speak;

whenever I'm near you I feel weak;

I wish I could tell you how I feel;

wish I could tell you that it's my heart you steal;

what if I tell you how I feel, and you don't care;

I don't think I can only stare;

for now, I will admire you from afar;

but I will think of you whenever I see a shooting star;

my heart aches every time you look my way;

I wanted to bid you a Happy Hearts and Hooves Day."

After having red the card, Fluttershy put it in a box with several other cards and letters that had the same meaning but different messages.

After closing the box she went down to the kitchen to make some tea.

As she was leaving the room her little pet bunny by the name of Angel just sat on her bedside looking at wear Fluttershy had put the box.

  "Angel dear do you maybe want some food, maybe a baby carrot as a snack?" Fluttershy asked from the door frame, Angel simply shook his head not letting his sight leaving that box.

  "OK you stay here I will just go to the kitchen to make myself some tea." Fluttershy closed the door and went down the stairs.

As Fluttershy closed the door Angel jumped off the bed and made his way to the box, the key to the box was on the highest shelf out of sight in case his owner had any visitors.

Angel jumped up to the shelf and got the key successfully opening the box.

Taking out the newest addition to this big stack of cards and letters with words of affection, Angel headed for the door and made his way downstairs.

He could hear Fluttershy in the kitchen, Angel made it all the way to the front door and managed to open it, just as he was about to head for the looming castle in the distance he heard a gasp coming from the kitchen doorway.

Looking behind him he saw Fluttershy stare at him with a shocked expression on her face.

  "Angel where are you going, I cut up fresh carrots for you."

She made her way to him, as she approached him she saw that he had something in his paws, It was red and heart shaped, just then she recognized it.

"Angel what are you doing with that? I locked it in the box for a reason you know." She was about to give him the starer when Angel handed her the card and pointed towards the castle.

Fluttershy looked at the card, then Angel, and lastly at the castle in the distance. She knew what he meant .

  "You know I can't do that Angel. I don't even know If she likes me the same way. I don't even think she is into mares." Angel had a angry looking face on him and jumped on Fluttershy's back and pointed at the castle again.

  "You're saying it's worth the risk? I don't know what if she starts actively avoiding me, I'm just as happy admiring her from a far. But I guess I would be happier to actually be with her."

Just then Fluttershy looked down for just a split moment and then back up with her head. Angel tucked the card under her wing and jumped off jumping to the door and pointed towards the castle, then Fluttershy was off with a few parting word to her little Bunny.

  "Thank you Angel, there are some french carrots for you on the counter, oh and if you could turn off the tea? That would be nice to." Then she was out of sight and was on her way towards the big shiny castle on the other side of Ponyville.

At the castle Twilight is spending Hearts and Hooves day relaxing in front of a fireplace reading one of her favorite romance novels 'Magic and Barriers'

Just as she sat down her now empty cup of chamomile tea Spike walks into the room wearing the tux that Rarity made for him just a couple of days ago.

  "Hey Twilight can you help me with this bow tie, I can't seem to do it my self." His tux was a very nice apple green tux with a brightly colored red bow tie.

Twilight walked over to him and started to tie the bow with her magic all the while Spike is talking about his Hearts and Hooves day date with Applebloom.

As Twilight finishes his bow he is just about finished speaking on how excited he is.

His bow tie ready for presentation and flowers in his hands Spike heads out the door to pick up Applebloom for their date, Twilight wishes him luck all the while feeling a little sad that even Spike her number one assistant has a date for today.

Walking over to the fireplace again, as she is sitting down she starts day dreaming about her crush.

On a hill on the outskirts of Ponyville sat Twilight with one of her best friends watching the sunset.

“This is very pretty Twilight” said the pony sitting beside Twilight.

Looking towards the pony in question Twilight spoke.

“It is indeed, Celestia outdid herself this time. There is only one thing i can think off that is even prettier than this.”

Twilight’s friend looked back at her with a curious look on her face.

“And what might that be Twilight.” She said in the same soft tone she always spoke with.

Twilight looked into her friend's eyes and said.

“Why that would be what I’m seeing right now Fluttershy.” A small blush was creeping onto Twilight’s face as she spoke.

Fluttershy’s eyes went wide in shock, she started trembling and a few sweet drops started to pour down her face.

“I- I’m flattered Twilight I really am but I- I can’t say I feel the same, It’s not that I don’t like you you are one of my best friends but that is just it. I can’t really see you like anything more than a friend.” Fluttershy stood up and started to back away from Twilight.

“I- I’m really sorry Twilight this was nice but I have to go.” Fluttershy turned around and started sprinting towards her cottage, leaving Twilight alone on the hill with tears rolling down her face.

The world around Twilight started to darken everything became dark and before she knew it Twilight was falling endlessly into the void that this world have now become.

Shaking her head clear of this daydream Twilight returns to the book she was reading.

After a few minutes of reading Twilight heard a knocking at the front door, she gave a small sigh and closed the book and headed for the door.

She started to speculate on who would knock on her door this day, everyone with the exception of ponies like her whom were single was usually very busy on hearts and hooves day.

Opening the door Twilight was a little shocked to see Fluttershy standing on her doorstep with a red rose in her mouth and a red card under her wing.

  “Hello Twilight might I come in for a bit” Fluttershy said in her usual soft spoken voice still holding on to the rose.

  “Sure Fluttershy come right on in. I was about to put on some tea if you want some.” Twilight said walking toward the kitchen and closing the door behind Fluttershy using her magic.

Arriving at the kitchen Twilight took the teapot she used earlier that day for her chamomile tea and started to re-heat the water inside

Sitting down at the table opposite of Fluttershy Twilight started the conversation.

  “So what is it that you wanted Fluttershy?” Twilight said in a calming voice.

  “Well you see I came here today because I wanted to ask you a question” Fluttershy said with a nervous tone in her voice.

  “Well whatever it is I will try my best to help” Twilight said as she took the whistling pot of the stove and took two bags of chamomile tea from her cabinet and served it to Fluttershy and herself.

  “W- well it’s not as much as I want you help, rather your answer.” Fluttershy stood up and presented Twilight with the card and rose she brought with her.

  “T- Twilight Sparkle would you like to be my- my date for hearts and hooves day?” Fluttershy said very nervously and she was shaking all over.

Twilight simply looked at the card and the rose then back at Fluttershy, her eyes was just as big as your average dinner plate and her mouth hung open as if she was yelling really loud but no sound was made.

The longer the silence was there the more nervous Fluttershy got.

A tear started to roll down Twilight face, then she spoke.

  “Fluttershy you have no idea how long I wanted to ask you that. Yes, yes I will go on a date with you” As she finished the sentence Twilight walked up to Fluttershy and hugged her with Fluttershy returning the hug this day just got better for both of them.
