Chapters Among the birds and trees was a calm, peaceful small town known as Pony Ville, where ponies of all ages and professions gathered to converse, shop, and enjoy their time here. However, in the outer rim of Pony Ville was a home near the Ever Free forest, one that was owned by Fluttershy, who was the tender loving caretaker of the animals of the wild. She was a caring, sweet, soft yellow colored pony with long graceful looking pink hair. Her light greens eyes glistened in the sun as she walked along with a basket in her mouth to collect flowers. On her left Flank was a mark that looked like butterflies, showing that her Cutie Mark was her special skill with animals. She was in another one of her peaceful moods and was happily prancing along getting food for all her animal friends. As she was walking along gathering rose buds and dandelions, and all other manner of flowers, she noticed the sky begin to darken with clouds.
“I guess a storm is supposed to come soon, I better head home then.” She said in her soft, humble voice.
She began to make her way home, and soon, about half way into her trek home, it started to rain. Water began to poor out of the sky as it soon began to rain hard like a raging storm. Wind flew rapidly in the air that was once calm, and her mane became wet, mangled, and frizzy from the changing weather. Her coat would mimic the same reaction as she continued.
“A crying animal?”
She hesitated to say. She was confused as to where the crying was coming from. She wondered what a creature would be doing out here in the cold wet storm instead of in some kind of shelter.
Quickly Fluttershy started to search for the poor creature, looking under every bush and in every tree, trying desperately to find the poor thing. Fluttershy searched for about 5 minutes when panic started to set in.
“oh no, what if I can’t find it in time. What if it freezes out here all alone with no one to help it.”
With that thought, Fluttershy went into overdrive. She searched faster and without noticing, flew into the everfree forest.

The crying quickly became louder, and clearer. She found herself in a large clearing with a ring of trees surrounding her. In the center of the trees was a small clear stream. Near the bank of the stream was a small creature, crying and completely oblivious to fluttershys presence. Fluttershy landed at the end of the opening and started walking towards the creature, relieved that she finally found it. As she got closer to the creature she noticed the size of it. She stopped walking and observed it. It looked to be about 1 to 2 feet shorter than her and wearing some kind of dirty black robe with a hoodie.
As she observed the creature in front of her she began thinking of what her next step would be. She shifted her wait to her right fore hoof and heard a snap. She looked under her hoof to see a twig snapped in half. As she looked up she saw the creature jump up and make an “eep” noise then stumbled backwards and fell on its rump. She noticed it started to hyperventilate and pushed itself back a bit with its feet. Slowly fluttershy started to walk towards the small creature.
“it’s ok, don’t be scarred.” She cooed. The creature, still crying, started crawling backwards with every step fluttershy took until it hit a tree. The creature looked like it was starting to panic because it seemed to try and push itself through the tree. Fluttershy started to slow her pace to the creature. The creature gave up on trying to go through the tree and curled itself up into a ball.
fluttershy stopped walking when the creature was at her feet. She bent down to see the creature’s face, she gasped when she saw it had no fur or muzzle. It had a sort of flat face and had a small lump in the middle of its face. The creature, still crying, opened its eye a little to see what was going on but immediately shut its eyes. Fluttershy nuzzled the crying creature on its face.
The creature gave a loud “eep” and began to tremble. Fluttershy began to try and relax it with her warm and gentle nuzzling. The creature stopped trembling and slowly began to stop crying. Fluttershy slowly held the creature, which was freezing cold to the touch, and started cooing it. The creature embraced her warmth and started to fall asleep. Upon seeing the creature start to embrace her fluttershy hugged the creature with her forelegs and wings until it fell asleep.
After about 5 minutes of pure D’aww, fluttershy realized that she was in the everfree forest. Fear starting to take over she quickly and carefully scooped up the small creature in her forelegs and flew towards her home, her mind racing with questions on this strange creature that she’s never seen before.

Upon reaching her home the storm started to intensify. Fluttershy quickly opened her door and closed it to stop the rain from entering. Once inside, she went to her bed on the second floor of her home and gently set the wet creature on her bed. She then went into her bathroom and grabbed a towel to quickly dry herself off. She then grabbed another towel and flew back to the still wet creature on her bed.
Fluttershy saw that it had what looked like a hooded robe. She pulled back the hoodie and looked at the now sleeping creature. It had almost no fur on its face save for a small patch of brown hair on its head, and its ears were to the left and right of its head. Fluttershy stared at it for a little while stuck in a state of aw, until the creature opened its eyes.
The creature sat up and stared at fluttershy. Fluttershy noticed it had beautiful hazel colored eyes. She stared at them for a little while until it sneezed snapping her out of her train of thought. She quickly remembered it was still wet, she walked towards it and started to dry its head off. To her surprise the creature let her dry its entire head without making a fuss.
“There we go know your head is all dry, but maybe we should get you out of those wet clothes”
she said as she started to remove the robe from the creature. Under the robe was a grass green shirt and ocean blue pants that reminded her of the gentle waves of the ocean at night. She removed the shirt of the creature and started to remove the pants, however this was proving difficult as the creature was holding on to its waist. Fluttershy gave a fairly strong tug and the pants came down looking at the pants then at the creature. She realized why it wanted to keep them on…
she also realized it was a male.

After drying off the creature and most of its clothing, the creature and fluttershy stared at each other for what felt like hours. even though the clock on Fluttershy's nightstand said it had only been 6 minutes. Eventually the creature yawned, and was struggling to stay awake. Fluttershy was also struggling to stay awake to observe this new creature she found.
Fluttershy, whom was sitting on floor in front of the creature, closed her eyes for a little bit. She felt something move under her, when she opened her eyes she saw the creature sitting right under her slightly trembling, he felt cold. Fluttershy wrapped her wings, and forelegs around the creature. The creature slowly stopped trembling, and embraced Fluttershy's warmth. Both the creature and Fluttershy gently faded off into deep slumber.

Fluttershy woke up feeling a bit tired and a little sore. She noticed she was on the ground and was wondering why she was sleeping on the floor. She then felt something brush up against her chest; she looked down to find the creature snuggling up against her chest. Fluttershy then remembered the events that took place yesterday evening. She thought about how this creature ended up alone in the everfree forest, and what kind of creature it was.
She had never seen an animal like this before, it didn’t even have that much fur or paws. It had what looked like spikes claws but weren’t sharp at all. She also wandered where the clothes had come from; she pondered this for a while until she noticed the creature waking up. The creature yawned as it opened its eyes and stared into Fluttershy's eyes. Fluttershy returned his stare, with her own stare. The silence felt a little awkward for fluttershy so she decided to break the silence.
“Good morning” she said in a motherly voice.
The creature buried its face a little into fluttershys chest, slightly blushing. “are you hungry?” she asked. The creature didn’t say anything but its stomach let out a small growl. Fluttershy giggled. “I’ll take it as a yes then” she said as she began to get up from the grown.
Fluttershy walked to the stairs and stopped at the top and looked at the creature, waiting for it to follow but for some reason he just sat there on the floor. Fluttershy thought for a moment on why he wasn’t following her. Maybe he didn’t know she wanted him to follow her. With that in mind fluttershy raised her hoof and moved it in a beckoning motion.
The creature hesitated a bit, before standing up and walking towards fluttershy. Fluttershy was amazed and slightly shocked that the creature walked on its two back legs without a tail to balance it. it must have strong back legs . she thought. With the creature now following her she slowly went down the stairs, constantly looking over her shoulder to make sure the creature didn’t fall and hurt himself.
Once they got to the ground they walked straight into the kitchen. Fluttershy turned to the creature and pointed a hoof at a chair near the table. The creature wasn’t sure what she wanted him to do, he just stood there with a confused look. Fluttershy then pulled the chair out from the table and beckoned the creature to come to her, which he did. Fluttershy then picked up the creature and set him down on the chair and pushed the chair back to the table.
“There we go, now” she began “what kind of food do you eat” she said thinking about what to give him.
“Maybe we’ll see if you eat fruit” she said as she grabbed two apples from a nearby bowl and washed them, she then took the apple to the table. She gave the creature an apple hopping it was an herbivore and not a carnivore. The creature then took the apple, inspected it and then promptly took a bite out of it. Fluttershy sighed in relief. She then began eating her apple.
After they both finished there apples she started to talk the creature. “now then, what should I name you” she said rubbing her hoof against her chin. “Well” she began. “Let’s see, you have a brown mane, and you don’t have much fur, hmm… I’m not sure what to call you.” She sighed “What should I name you… oh! I know I’ll call you Colt, because you’re male!” fluttershy felt happy now that she didn’t have to call him creature anymore.
After fluttershy gave colt his name, colt’s stomach growled. “Oh your still hungry, guess I’ll make you something else... I hope you like oatmeal.” She said as she turned to the stove and began making the meal.
After they ate, Fluttershy picked up Colt and gently place him on the ground. Fluttershy, and colt exited the kitchen and began walking towards the door. Fluttershy opened the door and walked outside to look at the damage the storm caused. To her surprise there was little to no damage on the property, there were some twigs on the ground but that wasn’t much.
Fluttershy turned and looked at colt standing in the doorway. Fluttershy began to beckon him to fallow her. “c’mon colt, it’s alright don’t be scarred”. Colt hesitated to fallow her but after some encouraging words colt left the doorway and stayed close to fluttershy. “Now then, let’s go feed the animals”.
It is a beautiful day in Equestria, the sun is shinning, the birds are chirping, and a beautiful sound is coming from a home outside of Ponyville. Near the home is the beautifully elegant pegasis pony known as Fluttershy. She is tending to all her little animal friends, with Colt nearby. Fluttershy is humming one of her beautiful songs to herself. While tending to her little friends, she periodically looks over to Colt, making sure he is okay. Every time she saw him he seamed to get closer to her. She didn't mind this at all, in fact she felt better every time Colt got closer to her. She felt that with every inch Colt took, he became more comfortable with her.
Colt is watching all the little animals run around him and Fluttershy. This made Colt feel a bit nervous, which made him start to get closer to her. Fluttershy noticed Colt was starting to look nervous around the other animals, she quickly thought about what she should do to make Colt feel more comfortable around them. 'Maybe if I could get him to feed some of them, he would be less nervous' She thought.
Fluttershy grabs some nuts from a basket nearby and flew over to him "Colt, would you like to feed some animals?" asked Fluttershy.
Colt said nothing and instead gave Fluttershy a nervous look "here you go Colt" Fluttershy said as she handed (Hoofded?) Colt the nuts.
Colt stared at the nuts in his hands, then at Fluttershy with a puzzled look "Give them to those squirrels over there" said Fluttershy with a cheery voice.
Colt looks at the squirrels that Fluttershy is pointing to, Colt hesitated, looking at the squirrels, then at Fluttershy, then back to the squirrels again "go on Colt, go make some friends" said Fluttershy as she gently nudges Colt towards the squirrels.
Colt whimpers slightly as he walks towards the small brown critters. The squirrels gave a confused look at the bipedal creature that is slowly walking towards them. Colt crouches down in front of the squirrels, his hands are shaking from his nervousness, Colt slowly extends his trembling hands towards the four critters sitting in front of him. The squirrels looks at him, then at the nuts, then back at him. This went on for about a minute, until one of the squirrels jumps into the nuts, making Colt yelp as he jumps up in fright. Colt fell on his rump and quickly crawls backwards until he is completely under Fluttershy, holding her left foreleg.
"Oh my, you're a timid one aren't you?" she said, as she tried to calm down the now slightly hyperventilating creature.
Colt starts to calm down as Fluttershy nuzzles the top of his head, humming a nice tune to him. Colt didn't make a sound, as he heard a beautiful noise coming from the yellow Pegasus. To Colt, it is an orchestra of angelic voices, sending him to his happiest place, which just so happens to be with Fluttershy.
When Fluttershy finished humming to Colt she found him asleep, cuddling her. Fluttershy stares at the now sleeping creature she had found in the Everfree forest. She wonders if it was a good idea to take home a creature of which she had absolutely no idea if it is dangerous or not. Fluttershy quickly got rid of these thoughts as she remembered why she had brought the poor thing home with her. It, no-- He was alone, crying, and felt absolutely cold to the bone. The poor thing, he would have froze to death if she hadn't found him in time.
Fluttershy sighs and picks Colt up and puts him on her back, she then proceeded to slowly walk towards her home, as carefully as possible. She doesn't want to accidentally drop Colt while he sleeps, or at all for that matter. Fluttershy opens the door to her home and walks over to her couch where she slid Colt off her back and onto the couch. Fluttershy stares at Colt for a while, simply admiring how adorable he looks while sleeping. As Fluttershy is admiring her new sleeping friend, she heard the sound of wings flapping and hooves hitting the floor on her wooden porch. When she turns around, she sees Rainbow Dash walking through the doorway, which she forgot to close and yells out "Yo Fluttershy! You in here? We're gonna be late for Pinkie Pie's taste testing party at Twilight's place!".
Before Fluttershy could reply, Rainbow Dash spots her and promptly said "Hey, there you are! What's with the hold up Fluttershy? We're gonna be late fo-" Rainbow's voice is interrupted by a yellow hoof to her mouth.
"Sshhh, Rainbow be quite, or else your gonna wake up-" Fluttershy whispers, not wanting to wake Colt up until Rainbow Dash muffles into her hoof.
"HuuummMmmmmMmmmeeeh" Rainbow Dash tries talking with confusion, only to have Fluttershy's hoof still pressed on her mouth.
"Colt” Fluttershy finishes, fearing Colt may now have woken up.
Fluttershy turns around to see Colt, sitting up and staring right at them. His eye's has a mixture of fear and uncertainty. Colt began trying to make himself as small as possible whilst backing into the corner of the couch. Fluttershy saw this and walked towards Colt while speaking in a calm motherly voice "Its ok Colt, don't be scared, nopony's gonna hurt you, right Rainbow" Fluttershy looks over her shoulder, and gave Rainbow a small scowl as well.
Fluttershy never scowled at her before, or anypony for that matter.
This made Rainbow Dash shiver with a chill running down her spine "uh...y-yeah! I'm not g-gonna...gonna...um...hurt you...uhh-" Rainbow Dash stutters in slight fear.
"Colt" Fluttershy stated.
"Colt, yeah...I'm not gonna do anything bad too ya" Rainbow Dash reassures the unknown creature with a nervous smile.
Colt gave Rainbow a 'You Promise?' look.
"I promise! cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in me ey-YEOW!!" Yelps Rainbow as she accidentally poked her eye.
As she rubbed her now watery eye, she heard a small chuckle coming from Colt "See Colt, Rainbow's not a bad pony" Colt eyes Rainbow for a bit, before he finally began to relax.
After a few moments of awkward silence Rainbow spoke up "sooo... Fluttershy...um, what is this...uh, um, I mean what is Colt? And where'd you find, uhh..Him?".
Fluttershy sat on the couch next to Colt, and put a hoof to her chin to show herself deep in thought "Well" she begins "I found him in the Everfree forest, by a river. He was alone, crying, and I couldn't just stand there and not do anything to help him. Poor thing must have been there for hours" Fluttershy glanced towards Colt.
Colt was having an eye staring contest with Angel Bunny... which is weird because last time she knew Angel was visiting some friends in the Everfree forest...'I don't think Colt knows what's going on' thought Fluttershy.
Silence filled the room as Fluttershy pondered how, and when angel got home, Angel started sweating bullets as he was on the verge of losing his staring contest, Colt was... well Colt was just sitting there, staring into Angels eye's with confusion.
Fluttershy gives a thoughtful look between her friend and Colt "Oh I don't know Rainbow Dash, I have to look after Colt here and I don't know what his reaction will be like when he meets other ponies. You saw how scared he was when he saw you."
Rainbow Dash waves a hoof sideways "I'm sure he'll be fine, so long as he's with you."
Fluttershy taps her chin "Well, we both haven't eaten lunch yet... what do you say Colt? Do you want to go get some lunch at Twilight's?" Asks Fluttershy with a smile on her face.
As soon as Futtershy finished her sentence, Colt's stomach growled, making him blush slightly.
"Well Colt" Fluttershy starts as she helps Colt get down from the couch "I guess it's time for you to meet my friends...".

Author's Note: Am I doing this AN right?... meh whatever, ok, so... good news and bad news. Good news, I know where im gonna take this. Bad news is I have no idea how to take it there so... I guess I'll take it one step at a time or something. also I'm writing another story to get rid of writer's block and to increase my comedy/writing skills soooo, yeah. that's all folks.
oh and I started working on Chapter 3 so hopefully I wont take a freaking month to let the next chapter out... sorry about that.
one more thing, any ideas for a title for this chapter?

"Now Colt, don't go wandering off on me, & I want you to be on your best behavior... And stay close to me, & don't talk to strang-"
'uhg' "C'mon Fluttershy, lets get gooo already! Colt's gonna be fine. nothing bad's gonna happen." Exclaimed a fairly bored out of her mind pegasus
"Oh, but i worry about him, what if he gets lost on the way to twilight's, or worse get fillynapped, or *Gasp* or worse!" Exclaimed Fluttershy in a not so 'Fluttershy' way. Colt was sitting next to Fluttershy watching angel mimic something to him. He didn't really understand what it was the bunny was doing, but it involved allot of movement and paw signs.
"Oh c'mon! he's not gonna wander off, did you see how he reacted when he saw me! And what was that last part about him talking to strangers? Can he even talk?"
"Well...no.. I don't think he can talk but,... i'm really nervous about taking him somewhere new. What if everypony doesn't like him, what if they all shun him like they shunned Zecora. And what if he walks off when i'm not looking?"
Rainbow huffed a stray strand of hair from her face. "Alright then, if you afraid he'll run off when your not looking, make it so he can run." said rainbow as she flew over to Colt and picked him up. "Wauu!" Yelped Colt as he was picked up by Rainbow and placed on Fluttershy's back. Rainbow landed in front of Fluttershy.
Fluttershy was trying to have a better look at Colt, but wasn't having much luck. "Well?" asked Rainbow in a slightly annoyed tone.
"He'll be fine now lets go, i'm starving." said rainbow as she started walking away from Fluttershy and towards ponyville.
"Hold on tight colt, don't want you falling off now do we." As Fluttershy began to walk, Colt wrapped his arms around the back of Fluttershy's neck. Firmly yet not tight. Fluttershy grew a warm smile, and picked up her pace a little. just to catch up with Rainbow.
And Time Warp... Slightly.
The walk to and through ponyville was very uneventful. Mainly because Fluttershy tried her hardest to hide Colt with her wings. Colt wasn't sure why she was doing this, but her soft feathers where rubbing against his face. He assumed he was get some good old fashion Love and Affection. which looked fairly new for him. Rainbow was watching Colt Rub his face on one of Fluttershy's wings with small smile. "Wow, he really like's you doesn't he." Asked Rainbow.
"Oh, do you really think so?"
Rainbow hovered over Colt, watching him rub his face against Fluttershy's wings.
"Hey there's the library, finally I can get some food in me!" Proclaimed Rainbow, as she landed next to Fluttershy, and picked up her pace. Fluttershy looked at the library and slowed down a bit. She felt nervous. What would her friends think of her new friend? Would they like him? Would Colt like them? These thoughts raced through her mind as she made it to the front door. 'This is it'. Thought Fluttershy, as Rainbow banged on the door of the library.
"Hey Open up Twi! Were here for the party!... And i'm starving!"
Fluttershy snapped back to attention when she heard Rainbow yell. This is it. no going back now. All her friends will see Colt, and she was going to make sure they like him. The door opened to reveal Twilight Sparkle, with a bit of frosting on her nose.
"Oh good you made it!" exclaimed twilight as she let them through.
"Sorry were late Twi, but Fluttershy had a problem with her new animal friend." said Rainbow as she walked passed Twilight, and headed straight to the food table.
"Well, his name is Colt. and I don't know what he is... I brought him with me though."
"Really!" yelled everypony, with the exception of Rainbow who was sitting between Aj and Pinkie.
"Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, where is he, whats he look like, is he Invisible, is he huh, huh, huh?" Exclaimed a happy pinkie pie. oh so very excited to make a new friend.
"He's right here, but he's kinda shy..." Fluttershy lowered her left wing and felt Colt slowly slide off of her. she felt him hold onto him as he touched the ground. She moved her hoof over to colt and brought him in front of her. Colt was holding on to Her in a tight hug. face in her chest not wanting to see anything right now.
"Wow," said everypony as they looked on in amazement at the creature. none of them had ever seen such a strange, yet cute creature like this before. It look almost alien to them. Colt turned his head slightly to see what was going on around him. At the sight of all the other mares in the room he felt his nervousness grow. Fluttershy, sensing this gave him a hug to comfort him. "There, There Colt no need to be nervous." Colt visibly relaxed at her words. He turned around and sat under Fluttershy, and observed what everypony was doing.
