Feeling a weight on her chest she looked down and saw an upset bunny sitting on her, “Gah!” Fluttershy shouted as she jumped and reared on her hind legs.
She looked around at her room in a mild panic, ‘What, W-W-What? I was just at the hill a second ago, now I’m home? Maybe, it was a dream?’
Sitting on the floor now she saw a very upset bunny staring her down, “I-I guess you need breakfast?”
Looking at Fluttershy the bunny nodded and turned, hopping out of the room. Lowering herself to all fours she hopped off her bed, made it quickly and looked around her room, ‘how did I get back here? Maybe I’m sick, Twilight will know how to fix my dreams, if there is anything even wrong with them.’
Gathering her thoughts she went and prepared Angel her morning salad, then set about making herself a little breakfast. She decided that her dream sandwich sounded good enough so she made a mixed flower and cucumber sandwich and prepared herself some tea, remembering the sugar this time. As she sat in her chair a red bird fluttered into the kitchen through a window.
“Oh, hello little bird. I have a cracker for you, I saw you in my dream last night, or last last night in my dream last night? Well, here you go,” Fluttershy said calmly as she passed the cracker to the bird who landed on her cup, “Oh no!”
The cup tumbled and spilt the warm tea as it fell to the floor. The bird fluttered it wings and nibbled the cracker as Fluttershy looked at the broken cup and spilt tea, ‘At least I still have my sandwich this time.’ Getting up quickly she went to the corner to get a broom and dustpan then heard her plate smash on the floor.
‘Oh, so you’re the one who did it in my dream, and, just now? Well, I guess I’ll eat lunch at the cafe, well, I mean at the library. This day and dream is really confusing, what will I do if I’m still dreaming? Oh, I hope Twilight has a cure or remedy.
Finishing up her feeding chores efficiently and as quick as she could Fluttershy flew to town with a bit of haste. ‘No matter what happens I have to stay calm, the summer sun celebration is almost here, or was here, or is here, and…’ stopping her thought as she looked ahead, Fluttershy saw the faire set up and ponies walking about the ground.
‘It’s today then, I guess,’ she thought as she flew to the library landing fast and trotting to the door, opening it with a bit of urgency.
“Fluttershy you’re the first here,” screamed Pinkie as she tackled Fluttershy.
Feeling the ground approach Fluttershy twisted slightly so as to not have the life forced out of her when she landed this time, landing slightly to her side with Pinkie Pie rolling off the yellow mare as they huffed. “Pinkie, don’t do that! You could hurt Fluttershy, I’m sure she doesn’t want to be in the hospital on the one day we all get together this month,” Twilight scolded.
“Yeah, I know, but I’m so super duper happy that Fluttershy is here and early and…” Fluttershy put her hoof over Pinkies mouth to stop her.
“I’m fine this time, at least I didn’t almost die,” Fluttershy said.
“Wait, this time? Almost die? What are you talking about Fluttershy?” Twilight asked with a sceptic eye.
“Well, you see, I woke up two days ago, but it was yesterday and now yesterday is today.”
“Wha- that doesn’t make any sense Fluttershy, can you elaborate the details please?”
Pinkie was working her way in between the two, listening intently.
“Well, y-you see, I woke up, and everything that happened yesterday in my dream is happening today, and it’s the same as it was in my dream inside my dream. Everything is happening the same over and over, can you help me, Twilight?” asked Fluttershy.
“Well, if I understand you correctly I think what you’re talking about is an old phrase called Déjà vu; a feeling of doing something you’ve done before, even though you haven’t actually done it yet. I have a feeling you just had a really strong dream and it was so real that it synchronizing with reality. It’s just coincidence, Fluttershy. I mean, there isn’t any proof that Déjà vu is real.”
“But Twilight, in my dream Applejack and Rainbow dash raced into the library and applejack won. She did a victory circle then said ‘hi’ to us,” Fluttershy replied, “It felt so real.”
“Fluttershy, I know dreams can feel real sometimes, but-“ the door burst open and Applejack came bursting in followed closely by Rainbow Dash who crossed her forelegs and scowled as Applejack did a victory circle.
“Wowowowow, did you see that, Twilight? Fluttershy can see the FUUUUTURE. FLUTTERSHY, what am I thinking of right now?” Pinkie exclaimed as she grabbed Fluttershys face and pressed it to her own, staring into her eyes with wonder.
“Uh, Pinkie, I don’t think I have powers like that,” Fluttershy said as she pulled away, “Maybe I just got lucky. Twilight did say dreams seem real, so I guess that is the answer.”
“Yes, I said that, however this does seem to be a timely coincidence. The chances of that happening are great, so I don’t see any reason to disagree with Fluttershy, it’s just luck.”
Looking at the trio talking Applejack and Rainbow Dash looked on, “Uh, what are you guys talking about? Is Fluttershy suddenly psychic?” mused Rainbow Dash.
“Hi Rarity!” Pinkie shouted, waving her foreleg frantically, “Last one here gets the last cupcake,” she said as she ran to rarity with a Cupcake in her hand.
“Oh, no dearest, I’m not having a cupcake from your hands, I’ll have it myself, thank you,” Rarity replied as she levitated the cupcake from Pinkie while stopping Pinkie mid stride.
“No, I am not a psychic, I just had a realistic dream. Right, twilight?” asked Fluttershy with a hopeful look.
“Ugh, I already agreed with you; this is a coincidence and that’s that. Lets just go about our day, and if anything happens you’ll tell us, right Fluttershy?”
“Uhm, right,” agreed Fluttershy with a smile and a nod.
The time at the party went just as it had before: Spike took notes, Cider was drunk, laughs were had. The events of the evening went as they had from Fluttershys perspective. When she got the coupon, this time she simply put it in her pocket with a soft, ‘thank you.’
Watching as the sun rose later that night the light pierced her already closed eyes making her wince.
