The Kingdom of Equestria is the kingdom that fell from twelve kings after the deaths of the princesses who ruled over in peace and harmony. The citizens are now ruled by King Demork, the peacefulness of his way of life, made the whole kingdom wonder why the past king choose him instead of the strong Swordscling, it was very strange. But for the first time in many years, had a royal grew up in the castle.
“Uh… Hm…” Moondrop looked into the tall mirror in front of her as she fondled with her mane and dress.
“Princess, you look incredible. You should go out to the formal outside with your father.” Miri spoke in her soft voice. Miri was one of the castles servants, but became friends with everyone there including the princess.
“But…” Moondrop frowned at the mirror. “It doesn’t look right.” Her father soon walked in after the formal was over.
“Hello, how is my beautiful daughter doing?” Demork smiled at his daughter.
“Uh, father, what about the formal?” Moondrop looked up at her father worried.
“As you can see, it’s over. Anyway it was more of ruling speech, nothing that you NEEDED to make an appearance in.” He continued to smile at his daughter, mouth agape.
“But… don’t you think there’s something wrong with my hair?” Moondrop cuffed a part of her long hair in her hoof.
“No, why would anything be wrong? You were born with the most beautiful…” She cut off her father.
“I know I was born with the cutest face, but what about my hair? It’s all red and unruly.” She jumped up in the air. “It won’t behave at all!!!!” She shouted throwing her hoofs everywhere.
“Dark Light, would you say there’s anything wrong with Moondrop’s mane?” Demork turned around to one of his generals, the lightning beast, Dark light.
“Of course not. Who would say anything is wrong with the princess’s mane? If anything is wrong, it would be her brain.” He said as he lifted his head from bowing.
“DAD!!! Do something about him!!” Moondrop started trying to punch Dark light as he dodged every one.
“Why would i? Don’t you remember, Dark Light is your childhood friend. And he is one of the top five generals and your body guard.” Her father chuckled at the two.
Moondrop grabbed a teacup. “If you need guards, find somepony more loveable!” She threw it at Dark light that just caught it in his magic.
“Speaking of loveable, shouldn’t you be acting loveable yourself?” Dark light teased.
“Huh?”
“It seems Lord Redsun has arrived.” Dark light knew without even being at the front gate.
“Y-you should've said earlier…” Moondrop walked out of the room hesitantly with red cheeks.
“What was all that about?” Miri asked Dark light who grabbed a cup of tea.
“I think it’s something called a maiden heart.” Miri and Demork was shocked, but Demork didn’t like the idea.
Redsun… Redsun… my senior three years in so long have I wanted to Moondrop bumped into somepony as she was galloping down the hallways. She looked up to see Redsun. See him…
“You’re energetic as always, princess Moondrop, what’s the rush?” Redsun asked as he smiled at Moondrop.
“W-well, I heard you arrived, oh, Redsun, you are staying a while this time, right?” Moondrop asked shyly.
“Well of course! It’s going to be a week for your birthday!” Redsun put his hoof on top of Moondrop’s head and swished side to side. “You've grown so fast, your turning sixteen, ha-ha!”
“W-well, I'm still looking forward to spending time with you” Moondrop said.
“Of course, now where is Demork and Dark light I must say hello to them!” Redsun ran off to speak with the king and his other friends.
Redsun always treats me like a child… a child… a child! “Stupid Redsun, I perfumed my dress with the finest perfumes, and applied the prettiest make-up and lotions.” Moondrop sighed, disappointed.
“All for nothing” Dark light said teasingly while eating a piece of cake.
“Shut up you idiot!” Moondrop yelled annoyingly at Dark light.Stupid Redsun.
=================================================Memories“Moondrop I heard you haven't been eating late” Moondrop cut Redsun off by smacking him with the back of her hoof.
“Quiet!” She kept walking, until they came to a stop in the middle of nowhere, Moondrop sat down on the ground and Redsun laid a blanket on Moondrop from behind her, keeping her warm.
“It’s alright; you can cry if you want to, I won't let anyone see.” Redsun said, this soothed the princess’s tough ego and she started to cry.
“I can't sleep…” She started to sob into her hooves. “Without mother beside me”
“Yes, I heard the queen passed away recently. Oh I know! I’ll be your mother!” Redsun brought Moondrop back up to her hooves. “First of all, you have to eat” Redsun took out a pear from his saddlebag. “Eat the pear my master gave me!” He handed her the pear in his hoof, that’s when his own stomach growled in hunger. “I'll hold your hoof until you fall asleep, just like the queen did. If you shed tears, I’ll wipe them away so no pony will see, so… tomorrow, smile again, please?” Redsun smiled at Moondrop.
“Ok...” Moondrop replied. Stupid… my heart’s beating so loudly, it’s even harder to fall asleep.
“You are my most special one.” Moondrop said as she looked up out at the moon.
Moondrop fluffed her dress before barging into Redsun's quarters, "G-Good morning, Redsun. I brought our best sweets for you to-" she then realized that the room was empty. Miri and her father walked by the room, so she ran out to them.
"Moondrop, what's wrong?" Her father asked she couldn't answer, but Miri took notice of the anxiousness in her eyes and whispered to her.
"If you're looking for lord Redsun, he's with General Dark Light in the practice range." Moondrop ran to the practice range to find Redsun and Dark light holding bows.
"Not fair, Dark Light! Taking Redsun away before I could get to him!" Moondrop whined.
"Now, now. They haven't seen each other in a long time either." Demork pleaded. Moondrop whined again in despite of the honest truth. Redsun galloped forward and shot a near bullseye, then Dark light galloped and got a straight on bullseye.
"Nice shot Dark light." Redsun complimented.
"You too, Redsun." Dark Light returned the kind compliment.
Redsun pulled the string of his bow back "Next time I'll hit dead center." He released it.
"I shall go do archery too!" Moondrop said, thinking of ways she could be with Redsun.
"You mustn't Moondrop! Weapons are dangerous, I'm even opposed to them using them!" Demork pleaded to his daughter.
"Then, you do it father!" Moondrop said, annoyed that her father was acting cowardly.
"But... I would get hurt..." Demork said in light fear.
"You coward!" Moondrop shouted again.
"Moondrop! How about you come down here for a closer look at our shots?!" Redsun shouted up to Moondrop.
"Yes!" Moondrop ran to the staircase that lead down to the courtyard.
"Moondrop- Redsun!" Demork shouted angered by Redsun inviting Moondrop to be at hoof's step near weapons.
"Don't worry, Demork! We won't let her touch the actual bows, she's just going to watch!" Redsun tried to reassure the angered king, but it hardly helped at all. After a while of Redsun and Dark Light exchanging shots, Redsun walked up to Moondrop and offered her his hoof. "Care to take a walk with me?" Moondrop nodded as they walked side by side around the castle.
"Isn't this against the rules, though, Redsun?" Moondrop asked, feeling kind of weird taking a walk with Redsun, just the two of them.
"How so?" Redsun asked, a bit confused.
"Well, it appears you're accustomed to walking with mares... I bet you walk into your mansion with lots of mares." Moondrop soon regretted what she said. What the heck am I saying...?!
"P-Please... you're mistaken. I mean, discussions about engagement have come up but, let's not talk about it right now, ok?" Redsun said, still thinking she was a child.
Engagement?! "W-Well... I've gotten offers of engagement too!" Moondrop said, trying to show off to the person next to her, to get him jealous.
"Oh? From whom?" Redsun asked curiously.
"Uh... Dark Light for one!" Moondrop felt happy for the pony she chose, but sadly they stopped right next to Dark light, and he heard it all. Of all names I had to give him, It was that one! It's not my fault I don't know any other colts my age anyway, so stop staring at me like that Dark Light!
"Congradulations. That sounds amazing!" Redsun congratulated.
"You're cruel. You're too cruel Redsun! How could you believe that lie!" Moondrop whined in her dining room.
"You're the one who's cruel, and you're also a nuisance." Dark Light said, being quite annoyed that she said they were probably going to be married.
"Actually... You're engagement might not be a lie after all" Demork walked into the room to his daughter.
"What?" Moondrop looked up at her father.
"It'd only be natural for you two to be betrothed now, As for he is you're bodyguard, and more likely to be able to hold this country up in it's beauty." Demork said, not lowering, or making his voice higher.
~~~1 week later~~~
“We are here to celebrate the sixteenth birthday of my lovely daughter, Princess Moondrop!” Demork shouted in the celebration room full of ponies and food, the beautiful princess stood proudly as the guests greeted her and bowed in respect.
“Father…” Moondrop walked over to her father happily.
“Happy birthday darling, you look-” Demork was cut off by Moondrop.
“My hair still won’t behave! I wanted to wear it up today, but it won’t lay flat!” Moondrop whined to her father.
“It’s hopeless, the only thing she worries about is her hair” Her father sighed as somepony shouted for the princess from across the hall.
“Moondrop!! Over here!!” Redsun waved his hoof in the air to the princess.
“Okay!!” Moondrop went to gallop over but her father spoke up.
“Moondrop!” Demork shouted low enough that only she could hear, when she did she stopped and turned her head back.
Moondrop turned back to running after Redsun.
“Hey how about we go outside for some privacy Moondrop?” Redsun brought Moondrop outside to the pathway. “Sorry to bring you out here, it’s just I wanted to give you this.” He handed her a flower hair ornament.
“But… It won’t look good on me.” Redsun gasped a little. “My hair’s red and unruly, plus won’t behave at all; it wouldn’t look right on me…”
“But I love your hair, Princess Moondrop” Redsun held a patch of Moondrops’ hair and brought it forward, then released it. It fell onto her shoulder, back where it was. “It’s a beautiful red, like the sky at dawn.”
Am I really that simple…? Just then, I loved my hair. Moondrop thought to herself.
“Hello.” Dark Light said standing between them. Scaring them both, making them jump back in fear.
“D-Dark Light when did you get here!?!” Moondrop shouted.
“His majesty is looking for you.” Dark Light looked sternly at the princess.
“Just tell him I got sick or something.” Moondrop walked off while rolling her eyes.
“I thought this was what was happening.” Dark Light said to Redsun.
“Y-you knew?? Was it really that obvious?” Redsun chuckled embarrassed, and rubbed the back of his head. “But anyway, out of subject, don’t you feel something strange about the castle?”
“Yeah, now that you mention it, I have felt a strange feeling the whole day.” Dark Light held his weapon.
“T-That weapon of yours is amazing, I bet you could beat even me at a fair fight with that thing.” Redsun chuckled.
“Yeah, well, I’ll leave you to protect the princess; I’ll keep watch over the ponies that come in and out of the castle.” Dark Light galloped down the pathway.
“I love Redsun, I must talk to father about it… Just one more time.” Moondrop ran out of her quarters and ran to her father’s quarters. The door was left open just a crack. “How stupid… to leave your door open without posting guards here. Wait a minute, I didn’t see not a single guard on my way here…” Moondrop hesitantly opened the door more, and walked inside. In front of her was a pony holding a sword through her father’s heart, her father fell over right in front of her.
“Oh… you’re awake…” Redsun revealed himself from the shadows; his robe, sword, and face were all covered in blood.
“R-Redsun… quickly… call a d-doctor…” Moondrop helplessly reached out to the colt she loved, the one she believed in.
“No, King XII will not wake again…” Redsun said, his sweet voice turned cold.
“W-what??” Moondrop had started tearing up now.
“I killed him.” Redsun lifted the sword up to his eyes; the blood on it was unmistakable.
Moondrop’s eyes grew in size, but her pupils shrank. She was terrified. “B-But why… My father treated you like you were his own son…”
"Yes. I too loved King XII. But do you remember GunGale?"
my uncle...?
"The king who's said to hate and dispise weapons, used a sword to kill my father." Redsun stared unregretly down at the terrified mare.
"No... that's not true.... my uncle's death was an accident..." Moondrop looked at the person in front of her, the night of her birthday turned horribly wrong.
"Nice shot Dark light." Redsun complimented.
"You too, Redsun." Dark Light returned the kind compliment.
